The Walking Dead: Season 8 Episode 8 - How It's Gotta Be

Hello friends and welcome to our midseason finale discussion of season 8 of The Walking Dead!   Well, they kept teasing that something big was going to happen in this mid-season finale and they weren't kidding.  Yes, more meandering with the Negan vs. everyone story is still happening but things have moved forward.  It was a 1.5 hour episode, but I got to watching it late so this will be fairly brief.  We can catch up in the comments until February!  Let's do this.

The Walking Dead: Season 8 Episode 7 - Time for After

Hello friends and welcome back to The Walking Dead season 7!  One more episode to go until mid-season.  This episode was kind of ridiculous.  It built more on the friction between Rick and Daryl which is a really silly way to stretch out this Negan conflict.  The bulk of the rest of the episode was the internal struggle of Eugene as he decides where his loyalty lies.  It was all a setup for the mid-season finale so I'm sure we'll expect some fireworks next week.  Let's discuss!

The Walking Dead: Season 8 Episode 5 - The Big Scary U

Hello friends and welcome back for another dose of The Walking Dead season 8!  We got up close and personal with Negan this week and what has been happening at Sanctuary, while still moving Team Rick's story forward (and maybe a step backwards).  It was entertaining even if it recycled some old walker tactics and anatomy jokes!  Let's dive in for a brief brief recap.

The Walking Dead: Season 8 Episode 1 - Mercy

Hello friends and welcome back!  100 episodes later and here we are watching season 8 of The Walking Dead!  This episode had been touted as a ridiculously actioned packed episode of the show to celebrate the milestone number.  And yes, there were lots of explosions and gunfire and hints of things to come.  But, when all is said and done did anything really happen?  It seemed more of delaying the inevitable to me.  But, it was still intense as always and entertaining to watch.  Life has been busier than ever so I'm going to keep the recaps brief and we can discuss as much as we'd like in the comments.  Let's get to it!

Game of Thrones: Season 7 Episode 7 - The Dragon and the Wolf

Hello friends and welcome to our discussion of the conclusion of Game of Thrones Season 7, the penultimate season.  Wow, what an episode.  What a season!  This finale went down pretty much the way we had speculated for awhile.  But, that didn't make it any less satisfying!  We should pause and just let this thought sit in for a minute.  There are only 6 episodes left of Game of Thrones.  And we might not get them until 2019!  And just as we got accustomed to people traipsing across GRRM's fictional globe at light speed, this finale actually slowed travel speeds down!  But, it was a welcome relief to let some of these character scenes breathe.  Let's dive in and discuss!

Game of Thrones: Season 7 Episode 6 - Beyond the Wall (Death is the Enemy)

What is the airspeed velocity of a dragon? What about a raven? What about a running Gendry?  Questions like these don't play a role in Game of Thrones Season 7 folks!  And maybe we're better off not worrying about it.  BECAUSE WOW!!!  That was one intense episode that hit all of the emotional high and low points in 70 minutes.  I'm definitely still processing everything that went down and not sure I'm emotionally prepared for next week's almost 90 minute episode.  There's certainly plenty to gripe about if you want to talk logistics, but a lot of new information and possibilities were unveiled in this episode and we need to discuss them.  Let's get to it!

Game of Thrones: Season 7 Episode 5 - Eastwatch

Hello everyone and welcome to this continuously fast paced and very informative penultimate season of Game of Thrones!  Wow, kids.  Just wow.  I am still catching my breath from a whirlwind tour of the 7 Kingdoms.  What a knowledge dump!  New Twists and subplots have taken shape and the end-game for this season and potentially the series are seeming to gain some traction.  I really enjoyed this episode, but am fully aware that all the skipping around may have been confusing.  I'm here to try and help make sense of it all.  Let's dive in!

Game of Thrones: Season 7 Episode 4 - The Spoils of War

Hello friends and welcome back to our Game of Thrones discussion.  Halfway into this episode we hit the halfway mark of this 7th season.  This was advertised ahead of time as the shortest episode in Game of Thrones history and man did they pack a punch in those 50 minutes!  Even before we got the unexpected battle scene at the end I was already going to certify the episode with a WOW seal of approval.  The battle just put it over the top!  There's plenty to discuss so let's get to it!

The Walking Dead: Season 7 Episode 15 - Something They Need

Hello friends and welcome to our discussion of the penultimate episode of The Walking Dead season 7!  There have been rumblings on this blog all season about how it may have been overkill to have all of these isolated stories each episode.  You're waiting weeks to see some of your favorite characters.  This feels like the first time all season that we followed multiple storylines and it also felt like one of the best episodes of the season.  That said, there was a lot of time put in previously on these 3 storylines that helped build up the emotional investment in all of the characters involved.  There are trade-offs to both kinds of storytelling.  It sometimes felt like a chore to get here, but all the pieces are in place now for a big showdown in the finale.  We'll see if they can deliver.  For now, let's discuss the key things that happened in this episode!

The Walking Dead: Season 7 Episode 12 - Say Yes

Hello everyone and welcome back for more season 7 of The Walking Dead!  Well, when the marketing for this 2nd half promised Rick would smile they weren't kidding!  This whole episode was a bit of an "eye of the storm" type of escapism.  But, considering it focused on so few characters and sent Michonne and Rick out on their own it was pretty believable (and hilarious at times.  Something we rarely say about a Walking Dead ep).  Let's dive in.

The Walking Dead: Season 7 Episode 9 - Rock in the Road

Hello everyone and welcome back for some more season 7 of The Walking Dead!  It's no secret that the 1st half was a slog to get through.  But we all assumed they were laying tracks for an eventual uprising.  The mid-season finale certainly pointed in that direction.  While things were still not perfect for Team Rick in this 2nd half kickoff, there was an aura of optimism in the air with each task they came across.  Let's not waste any time and get right into the discussion.
