Game of Thrones: Season 6 Episode 6 - Blood of My Blood (Discussion)

Happy Memorial Day everyone!  I remember way back in time when Game of Thrones would take the weekend off to preserve the impact of important episodes such as ones that portrayed "The Red Wedding".  Here we are a few years later and the holiday weekend is "just another weekend".  In reality, of course, we all probably had plans over the weekend that are of a traditional sort.  That certainly is the case for me so I did not have time to recap the episode this week let alone probably even watch Sunday night!

So, we will just have an informal discussion about the episode here when we all get the chance to watch the episode.   Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, hope you forgive me for not having my usual ramblings and I'll see you next week!

Game of Thrones: Season 6 Episode 5 - The Door

Hello friends and welcome back to our Game of Thrones coverage.  Wow!!  What an episode!  These big ones always seem to happen when I'm out of town and even more limited with time.  But I'm going to jot some thoughts on the key points down and then open the floor for discussion! Let's dive in.

Game of Thrones: Season 6 Episode 4 - Book of the Stranger

Hello everyone and welcome back to our Game of Thrones season 6 discussion.  Another solid effort for the show reaching past the novels for a majority of the episode.  We are getting a clearer picture of where things are headed this season and, for some storylines, even possibly further than that.  I'm short for time this week so let's dive right in!

Game of Thrones: Season 6 Episode 3 - Oathbreaker

Hello friends and welcome back to our Game of Thrones season 6 coverage.  Wow, this episode was fantastic.  While charting into unknown territory, this season is also exploring stories I wasn't sure would ever be covered on the show but have been theorized to be vital to the book saga.  We'll get into it all below.

Brief warning on spoilers as always.  I have read the 5 books in the Song of Ice and Fire (and anxiously awaiting the 6th).  While the show has technically passed the books in the timeline there still are some plots that are being adapted from the books in one form or another.  So, I will only address these plots up to the point they have been covered on the show.  In those cases I may discuss differences from book to show.  In comments I ask that any time you want to get into Book Discussion to precede the comment with a "BOOK SPOILER/DISCUSSION" warning.

And with that let's dive in!

Game of Thrones: Season 6 Episode 2 - Home

Hello everyone and welcome back to our Game of Thrones discussion.  This is the episode that we've been waiting for folks.  Payoff after months and years of speculation.  We'll get into the details below, but let's just say we all kind of figured this is how things would play out.  That didn't change the effect of the episode though.  There was lots of plot movement beyond the books in this episode, but we did return to one book plot that occurred from Clash of Kings through A Dance With Dragons (books 2-5), and there was much guessing that this would happen this season.

So with that, I will give my usual warning on spoilers.  I have read all 5 of the books and a couple released chapters of Winds of Winter (book 6), but I'm well practiced at not spoiling plot points that have yet to come on the show.  Once they do occur on the show I do seize the opportunity to point out differences/similarities between the 2.  If I'm too tempted to dive into book discussion I will always label this in the post or in comments (and encourage everyone else to do the same) as BOOK SPOILERS.

With that said, let's dive in!
