TV Discussion: Summer of 2019

Hello fellow TV Addicts!  This will be our spot for discussing all Non-Recapped shows for the summer.   If it gets too long, I’ll start a new thread.  See you in the comments!

Note: Among many shows airing this summer, I did my 2nd full rewatch of LOST since the finale.  I documented my experience.  Just search for “LOST” throughout the comments.  Spoiler alert: I still loved all of it.  Maybe even more than before!

Game of Thrones: Season 8 Episode 6 - The Iron Throne

Hello Friends and welcome one last time to our Game of Thrones discussion.  The series finale has aired.  It’s been a bumpy road getting to this episode.  There’s been ups and downs, but I thought this final one was done masterfully.  Not everyone will be pleased, but this ended pretty much as I had hoped (give or take a few tweaks).  Not only did it have some amazing shots to be mesmerized by, but they handled the remaining characters well and figured out the ultimate question of “what comes next?”  I’m not sure what else we could expect from a finale of such a complex show.  And I still eagerly anticipate George’s books to see how he gets to this similar point.  So, to Game of Thrones the Series I say WOW!  To this episode?  Standing ovation for landing this ship and another wow from yours truly.  Let’s discuss one more time!

Game of Thrones: Season 8 Episode 5 - The Bells

Hello friends and welcome back the 2nd to last romp in Westeros!  Game of Thrones is coming to an explosive end.  On pure spectacle alone, WOW, that was some crazy stuff.  Story wise, we’ll have to get into it.  I think I like where this is headed, but it’s definitely not what I had in my head.  But, I think I’ve said in prior weeks, prior seasons that I wanted to be caught off guard and be surprised.  Not sure I’d call the obvious ramp up of a new villain a “surprise” per say, but the fact that they actually went ahead with it and the repercussions of said decision is certainly surprising.  Let’s dive on into it.  I’m sure we’ll have stuff to discuss!

Game of Thrones: Season 8 Episode 4 - The Last of the Starks

Hello friends and welcome back to Game of Thrones: Endgame!  We’re in the final 3 now.  Things are pretty much progressing as we thought they would following the Battle of Winterfell.  Of course, it’s not without some shockers in there along the way!  The opening half was lighter in tone for the most part with some serious undertones.  Then?  STUFF. GOT. REAL!   It’s shaping up to be one helluva episode 5 for Miguel Sipochnik’s final directorial return.  This was a decent episode with some great moments.  But, as expected it’s more of a table setter for the final showdown.  And a reinforcement of some conflicts within the larger conflicts.  The Game of Thrones is alive whether everyone involved likes it or not.  And if you play that Game?  You win or you die.  Let’s dive in for the 3rd to last time!
