BBT--OK, Penny is like at an all time low on the looks scale. Those baggy jeans and baggy shirt with not the long blonde locs she used to have all combine for her not being the total hotty she used to be. Which makes her not that big a deal for the nerd next door to get. Certainly the story has to change as the actors age and the show matures, but this is almost like a 180. Bernadette has it over Penny I think, especially without glasses.

BBT - Can't say I disagree. You know it's bad when my wife even says she's not hot anymore. lol

GoT--after looking at a few trailers I'm beginning to wonder if the new season will end with D either starting to make a move West or actually on the sea, etc

Richard

Vikings--So the new guy is named Harbard and is a ferryman in norse mythology who argued with Thor and could have been Odin in disguise.
As a ferryman he boasted of sexual prowess. The three girls better be careful. The children being killed I think is linked too.

I assume you're talking about this trailer just released with the HBO now announcement with Apple today.

Got http://www.ew.com/article/2015/03/09/game-thrones-season-5-trailer-2

GoT===Yea on the trailer. ++++++++++Speculation+++++++Spoilers++++

I'm wondering if the season will end differently then AFFC/ADWD. Since ADWD had her set up to go West with not as many ships as she needs for everything. Then of course she didn't go. Of course they may not finish AFFC/ADWD in one season and that's probably the most likely scenario. Especially since there is a next TV season and no next book--lol.

Given that seasons 6 and 7 have no books on which to be based it kind of makes sense that this season will be transitional.

There is a part of me that gets excited about the thought of D heading West.

I was going to post that new trailer yesterday and got busy with work. LOL

Battlecreek - still just a cop show with opposite personalities but I have to admit it has charm. Duhamel (sp?) is not hard on the eyes and the guy who was the brother on Rescue Me and is Mayhem in the commercials is hysterical.

Scorpion - getting a little ridiculous with them trying to make Paige relevent. And who exactly is watching her kid all this time away from home ? LOL

Bates/Returned - did not check yet

Mike V. said...

GOT Specilation####################*******************SPOILERS***

ADWD ended with 2 big battles about to start. The battle of Mereen (sp) and The Battle in the Snow (I think that's what he's calling it). So the big question is if they'll go ahead and show those battles or if they'll end on a cliffhanger. They may just skip the battles all together and move towards ending the TV series...who knows?? But yeah it wouldn't surprise me if she starts heading west by the end of the season.

Battlecreek - I think I forgot to mention that's a Vince Gilligan show the last time you brought it up. It's probably why it's a "charming" cop show. lol the man can make a tv show!
BCS - didn't get to it last night but i heard it was the mike-centric one that people have been looking forward to.

Bates - Charlie from Revolution!!! Something tells me her visit was short-lived based on how the episode ended. Norman is getting creepier and creepier as he's supposed to. Just randomly deciding to date his friend (forget her name) even though he's spying on Annika (charlie).

Returned - I thought I set the DVR but I don't know if it recorded. I'll have to double check.

G of T star on Simpsons. LOL on Van Houten vs van Houten

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/03/09/game-thrones-star-carice-van-houten-guest-simpsons

BCS - yes very Mike-centric. Was good.

Battlecreek - yes Gilligan and another show runner that I like - can't remember who though. LOL So far Gilligan did BB of course and this show. Not sure of any others.

Mike V. said...

Battlecreek - he was a writer on a little tiny show called "The X-Files" :-) I know there is another showrunner too from a show I've watched...I can't think of it either! lol

I'll check out the GOT/Simpsons link when I get a chance. Thanks! (same with the TWD links you just posted in the other post!)

MJ said...

BCS - didn't have time earlier to say much. LOL FInally they got Mike out of that booth ! Did we know that Mike was a Philly cop before on BB or is this new ? Think it's new info. Laughed at the 'all the cops are dirty' since it was philly. Very moving when he says he broke his son. Have to say that they change the hair on Saul/Jimmy to attempt to make him look younger but there is just nothing you can do with Mike to make him look younger. LOL

Leslie said...

Secrets and Lies - anyone watch yet? We watched last night, and it's pretty interesting so far.

MJ said...

Americans - don' think we have talked about this lately. Thank goodness they haven't gotten too creepy with Phillip working on Kimmy. But watching his recollection on how he got trained on this - his young self having to have sex with all those yucky people - that was hard to watch. And I don't care how much you love your country - how could you want this for your kid ? But Paige probably wouldn't get this training since she's not in Russia. Nice way to get your mole a new position Elizabeth - kill the current occupant. And what about Phillip pulling her tooth a few weeks back ! Or that whole crazy thing with the car being followed. Been so good this year.

American Crime - any one watch ? Felicity Huffmans character was pretty dark. This show is going to be all about race - which is such a hot topic right now. And illegals were brought up twice. There was alot about drugs too. It's reminding me of that movie Crash - how all the different stories somehow weave together.

Secrets - I have seen the 2 episode opener but not any others. I liked it. I def do not believe that he knew the kid was his. I also don't believe him and the neighbor only had sex that one time either. LOL His friend is a real loser !

Anonymous said...

Scorpion, yea MJ that ep was a little weak, even my wife thought so. LIke why didn't they try to analyze the mead for what poison was in it. Seriously silly. And why can't they just ask for the snake by saying it's official business. Many points that could be better.

Richard

MJ said...

Sleepy - http://www.ew.com/article/2015/03/10/mark-goffman-steps-down-showrunner-sleepy-hollow

No Shield or Justified for me yet

Shameless - OMG - the Russian chick and V cracked me up. And Frank suggesting that Uncle Carl use Chucky was soooo bad - and so great.

Mike V. said...

BCS - We definitely knew before this episode that Mike was a Philly Cop, but no I don't think we knew before BCS. Yeah...we certainly have to suspend our imagination with Mike looking younger! lol Good episode though! Powerful and moving like you said!

Secrets and Lies - nope...no time! :)

Americans - Yeah...somehow they've made that situation not too cringeworthy yet. But the flashbacks, agree they were cringeworthy! lol I think i missed elizabeth killing the current occupant...or at least the connection to the mole. lol The teeth pulling was nuts. I do agree this show has been very good!

American Crime - nope...no time! :-)

Sleepy - saw that last
night....sounds like renewal odds aren't very good either...but we'll see!

Shameless - lol...agree on all..good stuff!
Watched SHIELD and Justified but will comment later.

mj said...

Americans - she knocked the car off the jack. Then her mole got the job

mj said...

Americans - meant to add car falling killed guy under it. lol

mj said...

Bates- yeah his sudden desire for Emma (i think her name) is crazy. They are actually having him spiral quicker then I thought. Hard to see him spooning his mom

mj said...

Bates - how about when she drags him fr the car to go to school! He is spiraling but she is losing it. lol

Mike V. said...

Americans - Ohhhh yeahhh...I think I was wondering why she did that at the time. lol Thanks for the clarification.

Bates - Yeah Mom is a total nutjob too. Just in a different way! I agree, I didn't think he'd spiral so quickly. But, these shows probably won't go on forever....maybe they're planning a 5 season arc which means they'd be in the middle of their story. All speculation. But, I'm sure there are more shades of creepy they can write in for him each year! lol

Anonymous said...

Shield--I was laughing at a lot of it. INteresting on the upcoming betrayal and Clee background info on the diviners/keys.
Will give the group something new to do for a while.
The storyline with Skye seems so predictable and boring. The only way it's not is for her to be killed off or loose her power because it looks so much like eventually she'll learn to control it and stay with/come back to the group. I don't expect they will kill her off.

Richard

Mike V. said...

SHIELD - no i don't think they will kill her off either. Interesting to note that Ward has been missing from the first 2 episodes back.

The references to Thor being "hot" (This is what I hear from people who are attracted to males - love how PC I was there?) were pretty funny considering he's never been on the show....but it's still common knowledge that he's a Hemsworth. lol

Mike V. said...

Looks like EW is going all out on Game of Thrones in this week's issue. So many articles and videos on the site. lol And it's definitely the Cover story this wee with 4 collector's issues.

Leslie said...

Secrets - MJ, I agree that he and the neighbor didn't just have sex that one time, and he sure seemed to have a bond with the boy. I was confused if his wife knew before the murder that he had hooked up with the neighbor. They never said what their big fight was about the night before. And, for just a second, I had a bad feeling about the friend when he was playing with teenage daughter. Not sure if that was all innocent or not.

American Crime - Yep, watched first episode. Did you notice they changed Felicity's eye color to dark. Really changes her look.

BCS - I don't notice the same thing you guys do since I haven't watched BB yet.

Bates - Yep, both nutjobs! Lots of creepy to go around with the uncle being the older son's dad! Charlie sure looked different!

The Returned - Watched this first episode. Did anyone else?

MJ said...

BCS - ah then I forgot that he was a philly cop. Thanks

Secrets - the wife knew bef the murder that he's slept with Jessie that one time only. And she said it was the weekend she tok the girls away cause she'd ended an unwanted pregnancy that he did want ! Still haven't seen this weeks though

The returned - have it recorded.

American Crime - def changes her whole look. So strange. LOL

Shield - Glad they didn't drag out the reveal of who/what Skye really is too long. Totally baffled by Mack and Bobbi and their secret. The way they talked (remember how we felt when we found out that our friends were Hydra) is pointing towards them being part of a group against Shield - but I find that hard to believe. Also - when Bobby told Mack to get backup I did not think that was part of the secret thing - but Aussie guy sure did. Had to laugh at the idiot on the beach who though it was a good idea to hit on a woman who walks out of the sea carrying a sword !

Justified - Raylan spent so much time at those graves I really am starting to believe he's going down at the end. I keep going back and forth with myself whether he will die. But now that he has made a priority to leave, be with Winona and the baby - it will break my heart if he does die. Loved his like to Walker 'you shot me in the back - well if you wanted to be shot in the front you should have run towards me'. Don't get what Steenburgen is up to - talks about marrying Markam but then goes and gives Art the file on all that stuff which points to Markam being the rat from years ago. So even though Boyd knows full well that Raylan showed him that vault just to tempt him he's gonna go for it any way! Don't get why Rayland left that dynamite with Fahey to begin with - he did not know at that time that Boyd would be the one collecting the reward. Nice they brought Arlo back - odd though too. I thought for sure Rayland would find something hidden in there. This season is def all about the past and how it catches up to you. Read that there is now 5 episodes to go.

Game of Thrones - discussion about when to end the show:

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/03/11/game-thrones-end

justified - yeah I'm still going back and forth about it too. I want him to live naturally! But, there is a sort of poetic justice to it all if he doesn't. We've certainly seen plenty examples of both outcomes with these type of shows. I did love his line you referenced too!

GoT--LOL--all the options we've discussed. I hope they stick to their guns and end in 7. NOOOO split season, what a rip off. The movie idea is horrible too as I pay for the series already don't want to have to pay again(this article pointed that out).

I could see a spin off movie or series, maybe both.

But end it in 7. The actors that are supposed to be kids can't stay that way forever, as a single point.

The show runners have said they're consolidating the story and so to expand it again might be tough since S5 is done at this point.

MIke, I tought you said they're already at work writing S6 at this point in the production cycle?

Richard

Mike V. said...

GoT

I don't know if they're writing S6 or not yet. I'd assume they would have had to start since it's a year round process churning out this show. They did say that they know how many episodes and the key beats they need to hit by the end...so I think they've mapped it out somewhat. I think HBO is just being optimistic that maybe they can squeeze out a little more.

Spinoff ideas - Mad King era...create the whole story that is detailed in flashbacks in the Song of Ice and Fire.

Probably more likekly - The Hedge Knight (Dunc and Egg short stories GRRM has written and is continuing to write)

Or maybe they'd come up with a whole other story inspired by the world of Westeros and Essos.

I agree though, no point in stretching the story. Even The Sopranos stretched more than they had to under HBO pressure.

You could argue that LOST split it's final season too. 2 seasons into 3 shorter seasons. ABC got a 6th season to market and sell. And the LOST team got to stick to their ~100 episode (original vision of 5 seasons) show. Granted...season 5's time travel story may have never happened if they went with 2 22 or 24 episode seasons. Each season seemed to have a theme from start to finish.

I'm just rambling now!

Anonymous said...

GoT/LOST--I like your comparison if they stretch the series beyond what was originally laid out. And agree about the time travel stuff. Oh btw, that stuff really hurt the show.

Blacklist--watch tonight to see Liz's right wrist. I've heard it doesn't have the scar.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Lost - I spoke about season 5 as a positive for lost. That time travel stuff was handled awesomely and it's one of the most entertaining seasons to rewatch in my opinion!

We have fallen behind on blacklist. Thursday is not a good night for it in our house! (As I sit in my son's bed waiting for him to go to sleep!! Lol)

Mike V. said...

Got - grrm reflecting on ending the show on his blog. Just a long winded way of saying no one knows lol. Could've spent that time writing a chapter!!

Vikings--so Harbard is the father of the king of Kiev.

The whole Lagertha took all the warriors with her statement was necessary to defy what we saw on screen--lol. Kalf is pretty smart setting up alliances. Does anyone think Kalf will win?

BTW, in this ep we saw the person who kills Ragnar!!!!! I won't say to avoid spoilers. But wow. It makes me wonder how long the Ragnar arc will go. I just can't imagine the show without him.

Kwinthrith was obviously going to poison her brother with that toast. She's such a nut job. Great that nobody trusted the wine.

Siggy is dead, major character killed off. The ending with Harbard walking away and disappearing along with Siggy seemingly happy about her own death and his ability to fix the baby all combine to support my idea that he is Odin.

I wonder if Aslaugh is pregnant with Harbard's baby?

Richard

GRRM may be in denial that he's lost control of how the story will be told on screen. Obviously he'll have influence but I think for the most part his influence is on the decline.

Ironically, if he'd finished another book he would have been able to exert more control. But now it's really too late. His lack of a new book has kept his readers from reading and becoming knowledgeable to exert influence from an audience perspective on the show runners. He shot himself in the foot so to speak. Going forward now since S5 is done and S6 is being written it will really be the show runners vision driving the storylines. Poor guy.

LOST, I agree that the timetravel eps are some of the best to rewatch. And do in large part because of their complexity. But, most did see it as a negative from what I've read

Richard

mj said...

Lost - chick who was Jacobs envoy/disciple is on Following this season

Secrets - glad he kicked friend out, don't know if should believe him about sleeping with daughter. I think challenged kid did it or Tyler guy who challenged kid mentioned did it - Laura Ingalls is covering

Star Wars - 40 years. boy i feel old. lol

Anonymous said...

Vikings--Porrun has her faced all messed up. I don't like her character but this just doesn't seem fair. She played Hebe in the last Hercules movie and looked great in it as well as acted well. Hebe is Hercules love interest in the movie.

Vikings really does a good job of making what are pretty girls look like not so much.

Richard

mj said...

GofT - saw pics online. . Hmmm -two with Arya and Jon Snow together

Anonymous said...

Blacklist--interesting ep. Most say a flashback ep, but I say a RESET ep. For example they pointed out Liz was only 18 months into her job and really new. The Red/Tom relationship was set up.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Vikings - Well you kinda spoiled in that someone kills Ragnar! but if its in the annals of history, I guess it's not too much of a spoiler! lol I kinda have a feeling I know who it is based on you just making the comment now. :)

I did think that Aslaugh might be pregnant because that seems to be the trend on this show and television! lol

GRRM - Poor guy I guess...it was he who greenlit them moving forward with the show when the story was unfinished. Granted...if what he said is true and HBO told him 10 seasons, maybe he thought he'd have more time to get the books done instead of them just cutting to the gist of some of these plots (which is definitely better for television)

LOST - I agree...most did see it as a negative, but I think people disliked the Flash Sideways stuff more than the time travel. The rewatch stuff comes in more with the Smoke Monster being involved in the whole 2nd half of the season and us not really knowing it. But the time travel stuff is still fun too. lol

Star Wars - I wasn't even born for A New Hope (or you know..back then they just called it Star Wars)! Missed it by a year!

GofT - didn't see those pics...were they promo pics or stills from actual shooting? Don't want to say much, but if that actually happens...it would most likely be a drastic change from the books! lol

Anonymous said...

Dig--anybody watching, not a bad cast

Richard

MJ said...

GofT pics - wasn't sure at the time but yeah I think they were promo pics.

Dig - didn't watch last night but yes I like the cast. The woman who was watching the boy was in Torchwood Miracle Day. FBI guy is of course Lucious Malfoy from Harry Potter. Looks so different without that white/blonde hair. Kind of like the actress from GofT in her real hair - she looks so different as a brunette.

Tivo - you try the One Pass yet Mike ? I'm not that excited. Seems like all it does is keep a list of all the stuff you have in queue on Netflix. Which as I'm typing tis seems a little intrusive. But that's not true - it will also search Netflix for you and keep a placeholder on the DVR so you can launch a streaming show from Tivo rather than Netflix.

Mike V. said...

Dig - Yeah Jason Isaacs is awesome. I've liked him since The Patriot. But he was also in Awake which should've done better than it did. I always thought he looked weird with BLONDE hair! lol

I do want to check out Dig if I every get around to it.

Haven't tried One Pass yet. I think if you had Hulu and Netflix and Amazon, it would just list all episodes of every show you want to watch and all methods of watching episodes. It's a good idea in concept, but I agree...maybe not great in implementation. It's probably their attempt at creating an all in one view of media. One day it has to happen and be very user friendly!

I'm going to guess this was part of Steve Jobs' plan to fix TV at apple. We'll see if they ever get to it. lol

MJ said...

Awake ! That was it. Knew I watched him in something else but could not remember. Loved that show.

Agree on One Pass

Have a good weekend every one !

Anonymous said...

Dig-YOu need to dvr it or somehow be able to watch ep to ep. It moves pretty quick in some ways, maybe a little slow in others.

Not very Christian to sacrifice calfs--lol.

Interesting that the dead girl looks like his daughter.

Richard

Anonymous said...

GoT pics, I can't find them MJ. Was that from S1??

Richard

Mike V. said...

Dig - I did DVR it, just need time to get to it. Once I'm finished my GoT rewatch and some of these other shows I watch without the MRS wrap up (Americans, SHIELD, Vikings, Bates, etc...), I'll have time for shows like Dig and 12 Monkeys and whatever...if they end up being worth watching! lol

Anonymous said...

12 Monkees vs Dig--so far I think 12 MOnkees is better. Even though I know how it ended. Part of me thinks this one will end somewhat differently. I actually like it more than the Bruce Willis movie.

Vikings--sorry about the deal with Ragnar being killed. I just don't know how the show will continue without Ragnar as he's so much of the show. So, it probably won't happen any time soon and there's several key things yet to happen. This deal with Harbard/Odin has been great and I expect we may see him again. I wish they had more eps.

So, will Lagertha kill Kalf????

Got - just opened my ew mag. Here's a picture of snow and arya from the cover shoot. Lol

Mike V. said...

Definitely recommend picking up or downloading the latest issue of ew. It's a huge spread on game of thrones. James hibberd spent 10 days across 3 countries during the filming last fall. Plus lots of other articles like the big scenes the show skipped that were in the book among other things. Got lots to read!! :)

Anonymous said...

I think I found the GoT pick and it almost looks photoshoped. It certainly is made up. I didn't realize Arya was the big time star for covers.

Did you all notice how old she looks

Richard

Mike V. said...

Ew has picked arya as the best character on the show in an article last week or something. She really has been an mvp. And she's one of my favorite book characters too.

Btw this article talks about how they ran late with the shoot this year. 202 days of shooting. And they clarified that when fans ask for more episodes this was a perfect example of why they can't. Lol :)

Anonymous said...

But don't you think she looks way to old for the character? Of course a lot of them are to old.

I wonder how the guy playing Tommen will feel about that this year--LOL

Richard
