Husband was sick all weekend - I got it last night. Just really bad colds. So - not much watched. We barely made it through TWD. Will catch up with everyone once we get some shows watched.

Sounds good! Don't worry, I'm way behind too. 2 behind on Shameless and 1 behind on Justified. Finally caught up on Grimm. Watched ONCE last night though.

I'm just super excited for the HIMYM finale tonight! And I hope she's not dead too. I rewatched the pilot and the kids asked if they're being punished. Surely, they're not going to go that route but we'll see. Josh Radnor teased it might go to 2035 tonight. Maybe the kids will return all grown up! Someone on the comments suggested that maybe that's how they'll answer the pineapple incident too since 2030 Ted didn't know how it got there either. lol

Himym - I'm so excited I might watch live! Lol. doubt it. have too much stuff. Watched nothing of any value all weekend - still have scandal, vikings, helix finale and all sunday shows. I'm also sad for its end. And will checkout new show airing after it.

Mike V. said...

Himym - I'd love to watch live but don't see that happening with getting Parker to bed. Lol haven't watched scandal yet either. Yikes!! We also will record friends with better lives. Watching? Different story! Lol

New girl- caught up on the last two finally. Not surprised by breakbup - but they'll be back together.

Helix finale--mother was killed, didn't we see that coming? Hitaki says Dan would have died anyway.

Lots more could be said.

Next season will more wide open it seems.

I will rewatch.

helix--
1. Canisters-- must be a trade coming somehow?
2. Peter is a trader--didn't see that one
3. Julia kissing Alan and now the girl is pregnant--such a drama making deal.
4. Who's alive after bomb? All the key people--lol.
5. Day 235 Alan is beating one of the silver eyes, he's changed. The girl's got to be about to have the baby?
6. Julia the head of the silver eyes--crazy. Ring finger bionics?
7. French newspaper mentioned the Narvik virus by name. Day 235. Peter's still a double agent.

Himym - OMFG! I loved it! Won't say more yet. Between cold and crying 10 times I cannot breat. great finale to great series!

Mike V. said...

Himym - it was a really great episode and definitely a fitting end. The rumors all this time were absolutely right. The no ring on Barney in the flash forwards, mother dies and Ted ends up with robin hence his fixation with her the whole series. I tried to talk myself against the logic but they proved it was always in the cards with the kids' reaction. I have to process more but I'll type more tomorrow!! Meeting was perfect.

Mike V. said...

HIMYM - I watched it again last night. It really was a perfectly constructed episode. Right from that opening scene with the 2005 flashback, it was clear there was something in the cards for Robin. The show started with her and it was going to end with her! The funny thing is, I think at some point, I had posted people's predictions for how this finale would go down "TO A TEE" maybe as early as last season. And we refused to believe that it was true! But having that clip of the kids filmed from 8 years ago just sealed the deal for me. They had this thing planned. Sure, they may have filmed multiple endings with the kids...but it still meant they were thinking about it. And I liked the angle....that he was "asking permission" even if our unreliable narrator didn't even realize he was. It was very well handled.

Here is my latest processing of the episode/series that I posted on the EW recap. lol Well, I'll post it in my next comment

Mike V. said...

"HIMYM - Still conflicted here, but I have to say the finale was very well constructed and had everything in it that I would've wanted in a final episode. It just had a little more. Of course, the clues were there for that "little more" all along. While I always accepted it was plausible, I never thought they'd really go for it. And, well, we found out they had plans to go for it from very early on. I knew if we saw the kids' reaction (which was filmed years ago near the start of the show), it would make me more okay with it. And props to them for sticking with it even knowing would kind of backlash they'd receive. That was their vision and while it wasn't everyone's vision (even mine), it certainly was heartfelt and "perfect" in its own way.

As for the whole "wedding ending in 5 minutes" thing. It feels like that was planned out for awhile too. This could have been the season 8 finale as they originally envisioned (before CBS begged for more). But, I could also see them getting away from the wedding as soon as they could because people were so tired of "wedding weekend". We certainly paid homage to their greatest sets over the years (the apartment, the bar, the rooftop, Ted's future house) and I think that was very necessary in the finale.

The nostagia moments (ET, Back to the Future 'Grape Scotch!', David Lee Roth) were fantastic. The callbacks were awesome and plentiful (General Pleasure salute, Haaaaave you met Ted?, high five to end all high fives, the Playbook II, the payoff of the Ted/Robin bet between Marshall and Lily, Robots vs. Wrestlers, Slutty Pumpkin, everything about the meeting of Tracy (the mother)). AND to top things off, we got to see the group change over the years. Something we weren't sure we were going to see if the episode led up to the meeting of the mother and then just ended.

I think they did a good job over the series showing how Ted had 2 great loves of his life (4 if you count his children). Cristin Milioti actually did a fantastic job over 1 season selling to us that she ALSO had 2 great loves of her life too. And coincidentally (or perhaps very intentionally by the writers), her first great love died early as well. I don't think him ending up with Robin at the very end cheapens what he had with the mother. I always chalked up Ted's obsession with Robin as the woman he couldn't get over until he met his true love. The show worked that way and it actually WAS that way for that time in his life. But, now it works on another level. We see that the writers were never giving up on the Ted/Robin storyline because they knew the end game. It wasn't my preferred ending, but I'll admit ending it with the blue french horn was pretty darn sweet. And, I'm sure they had that in mind for awhile.

I'm all over the place but I have to say again, the meeting of the mother totally lived up to my expectations as well. Even the touch of the "Downtown Train" cover playing in the background cued the waterworks for me. But I could have imagined every line uttered in that first meeting just based on what we had seen over the past 9 seasons. It flowed together perfectly and us having met the mother a year prior had me invested even more. So, thanks CBS for the extra season!

HIMYM always has been brutal with adding a touch of real life to the series. I didn't see them carrying that trend into the finale, but I should've known better. It worked well for the show in the past, and it worked well in the finale. I certainly won't be forgetting that ending, and while many will be disappointed, it's tough not to give them credit for seeing their vision through to completion.

I said this on the other post, but major props to all of the fans that pieced the clues together for the beats of this final episode to a T. You were right! You win the bragging rights on this one! :)"

Blacklist-a great ep. Ressler stepped up, it seems the show runners are giving him a bigger part. Funny how Liz could miss work to investigate Tom but couldn't find time to be with him--lol. So, Red doesn't know about Berlin. And the watchers/apple guy comes back in play. Funny at the end with Liz taking her coat off to be intimate with Tom--that just a few secs before she was saying she couldn't stand him. This storyline can't last much longer for the show to stay credible.

She wants to know what her connection is to Red and it must be very close for those who want to hurt Red to use Liz as a target. That info is new to me and explains why Red came out of hiding so to speak.

My wife thinks it's silly to repeat your vows btw. A "second honeymoon", she might be good for that.

Richard

Anonymous said...

HIMYM--OK, so I skimmed through the dvr of the show and thought it was interesting that the show for the entire time was about this guy telling his kids about meeting their Mom. That part of the story must be for those who were on the inside track so to speak. So, I guess Robin is divorced with many, many, too many dogs now--lol.

I don't know if the mother had been in other eps since this is not a show I've seen

Richard

Mike V. said...

HIMYM - Richard, you missed out on this one! It was a pretty complex show for a sitcom and pretty "legendary" over the years. The mother was a major character in the final season, but we never saw Ted actually meet her until the final moments. We certainly knew where the meeting would take place earlier.

But no, Ted telling the story to the kids has been going on from the 1st scene of the pilot episode. The crafty thing here is...the actors playing the kids have gotten older over 9 years...so they actually filmed their reaction to the story at least 8 years ago. So, they've been working towards this ending for a long time.

Mike V. said...

HIMYM - BTW, I totally forgot about the scene in season 1 where they spent Thanksgiving at a strip club and the stripper said her name was Tracy. And then they flashed forward to 2030 and Ted said "and kids, that's how I met your mother" LOL Nice touch for the finale. Many people had guessed it too (and of course, the writers may have named her that intentionally because of that but who cares!?)

Kind of like Vader and my thoughts on GoT--film key scenes while the kids are young enough.

I can see Robin/Targaryen parallels--lol.

It seems the story ended like most thought it would. Ted and Robin together.

Richard

Mike V. said...

HIMYM - lol on the parallels. But no, it did NOT end how most thought it would. The mother dead and Ted back with Robin? Naaaa many had theorized on it, but most were predicting a happy ending with the mother. Still..it was a happyish ending...just different! And it stayed true to the theme of the show.

Anonymous said...

At home today, so just saw Intelligence. A great ep that has introduced a complex show--I wonder if it will make it?

Lilly's Dad, that actor always plays a bad guy--lol. So, with that in mind maybe it wasn't a big reveal.

BTW, Lilly would make a great bad girl.

Still very sick today. Haven't re-watched cause I can't cry - having enough trouble breathing.

I know I stated I would be pissed if she's dead - and I take it back ! They just did it so well I was ok with it. Def does NOT take away from the love Ted and Tracy had. Do they ever really explain why they took so long to get married? His re-proposal was adorable - totally Ted.

And ha ! I never felt Barney and Robin were a good match. Always hated the way their relationship was written too - often like it just kept happening out of no where and way to quick. WOnder now if the writers were kinda doing that on purpose? I really lost it when he showed up with that Blue Horn ! LOL Even my husband - who does not like the show but had watched these last few years with me - said they did it right. Sigh! One of these days I will have to netflix it all and watch from day 1 again.

Haven't watched much else. This is seriously the worst cold I have ever had - sleep half the day.

mj said...

It must be my meds - just reading the EW recap of HIMYM finale made me well up ! LOL

By the way - did see the Actors Studio with them all on - it was hysterical ! Even Lipton was funny.

Mike V. said...

HIMYM - So sorry to hear how sick you are MJ. Hopefully, it goes away soon!

As for taking so long to get married, they do mention that between kids and their jobs it just kind of fell by the wayside.

I felt the same way about Barney and Robin. I never felt like they clicked either and we discussed it here many times. So yes, it may have been potentially written that way. The Blue Horn was a great touch. Once he hung up the phone (A landline in 2030..so Ted! lol), I knew that's where it was going. It was good stuff.

Definitely rewatch the series when you get a chance. Even without this final twist, it was pretty amazing all of the recurring themes and tied together plots over the episodes and seasons I discovered on my 1st rewatch. I definitely want to do it one more time...this time watching it from the perspective of the writers as they plotted this big reveal.

Sandra's recap was good. Did you see Carter Bays taking to twitter to defend the finale? He just kept saying thank you to everyone, even to the people that may not be happy about the final twist. They wanted to be a comedy with dramatic elements through to the end.

I did see Inside the Actor's Studio. It was hysterical. "Hands on the table James!!" lol

I watched LAST week's Shameless...but it was immediately after HIMYM so I was only half paying attention. I was posting comments on EW and texting people and mind was wandering. But I did gather that Kevin almost shot his newborn and Frank is getting a liver. lol

Leslie said...

MJ - Hope you feel better real soon!

HIMYM - I just had to check in to read your comments today. Not concerned about getting spoiled on this one. I've watched this show from the beginning and enjoy it, but haven't been quite as attached as you guys. I have the last 8 episodes or so stacked up to watch. I'm glad to read that y'all liked the finale after investing that much time in a show.

Mike V. said...

HIMYM - Nice reading from the other perspective. Sepinwall is an awesome TV critic. I read his book about the "golden age" of television that we are sort of coming out of. Anyway, we always talk about having a well defined vision for an end vs letting it come organically and the pros/cons of both. I agree that in terms of LOST, it was better that they didn't have everything figured out. Sepinwall argues against what HIMYM did. He brings up some good points. I'm still conflicted about the end. Of course, in the end, it's only a TV show and I can respect the writers' decision. But, I agree, maybe it would've been more effective if the show ended years ago rather than having us fall in love with the mother and spend a season on Barney/Robin's wedding. Of course, I still have retorts to all of those arguments. This is a good read.

Shield-maybe the best ep yet. Looking forward to Capt America this weekend too. I don't think Mae is working for Clairvoyant but the red stripped hair girl. Which is still a betrayal to Coulson.

Glad to know it's an internal problem with Shield. Wonder if the red stripped hair girl is working for Clairvoyant?

Richard

Mike V. said...

SHIELD - I heard the show has improved drastically. Good to hear! It still fell on my "not enough time in the week" list. lol Maybe one day I'll catch up. Looking forward to seeing Captain America as soon as I can. We actually just rented Thor 2 this past weekend. Not too bad! Crazy ending.

Justified - Didn't watch this week's but finally watched last week's. Crazy stuff! I hope Art is okay! But with next season being the final season, it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't make it. And did I see it right that Rachel was getting Art's job? (Temporary, maybe permanently?) Oh and Boyd was hysterical in this episode.

Bates - Lots of teeneage romance going on! Looks like Norma is getting stuck in a bad place with one of the drug lords. And did I detect a possible romance with Richard Alpert? (Didn't think I'd remember his Bates bates name but it's Romero lol)

Scandal - We're going to have to label the 2nd half of this season as "how can we cover up Kerry Washington's belly?" It's tough to watch the show and not observe that! But there was still some intense scenes. Quinn/Huck stuff is getting nuts. There might be some mutual attraction there. Poor Harrison.... Then the 1st Family drama was at an all time "cray cray" lol Nice to see Olivia's dad coming around on helping her...of course it's all to go toe to toe with Jake Ballard (who is getting creepier by the episode!) Love this crazy show!

4 days until GAME. OF. THRONES!!!!!!!

mj said...

Justified - didn't watch either - THATS howsick I've been. lol. I about died when Boyd blew that guy up!
Scandal - just watched it myself. Agree on all you said. No mention of the son being on lost? Tsk tsk

Shameless - trying to remember fr last week - so you saw the one with the illegal surgery?

Gof T - yay!

Mike V. said...

Justified - yes Boyd blowing up the guy was hysterical. lol They have had some pretty funny death scenes as of late!

Scandal - Well...in my defense, the kid was in at least one previous episode and I observed it then too. Shanna keeps saying, "Hey that's the kid from Awake!" and I quickly correct her, "Yeah, but he was the imaginary kid in LOST first!" lol

Shameless - Yeah, the illegal surgery is what I saw. I love how when they said he got moved to the top of the list for a liver, everyone was kinda annoyed even Sheila. lol Good times.

mj said...

Shameless - only Frank can pay for illegal liver transplant and wind up losing a kidney!

Himym - read that link you gave. Guy has some points but I'm still good with it for the most part. Sure i'd come to love Tracy and now wish we spent more time with her. Def wish there had been less Barney/Robin over the years. Made me mad to see Barney had gone back to being a jerk and sad when he said Robin was his only love. But life is messy and I do feel that Tracy was his great romantic love - something Robin could never fulfill -and in life lots of people lose those loves. And Robin makes for a great second wife. Wish we'd actually had a better wedding for Ted and Tracy though. lol

Mike V. said...

HIMYM - Yeah...I like the idea that it was messy and not "perfect" in the end. The show had a lot of twists along the way, so it made sense that there was a "twist" (albeit, one many feared was coming) at the end.

BTW, I rewatched the scene from a few episodes back when Ted and the Mother are having their snowy 2024 night in Farhampton. Even though we were suspecting it then, it takes on the full meaning when you watch it now. And the line from Tracy "Great story, all the way up to the surprise end" stands out much more now. lol

I totally agree Tracy was still the love of his life. But that's not what this story was ever about. He touched on it, but the story was how they met. And we saw all of that. But, we also grew to know Robin over that 9 year stretch as well. The Barney arc was definitely sad...and I didn't realize it when I first watched...but you know when he goes up to random girl and says the "you are my life and everything I have is yours" or whatever? It's the EXACT line that he tells his infant daughter. Indicating that he did find true love. It was his daughter and it finally changed the man he was as he gave that "talking to" to the woman at the bar in the next scene we saw. lol Barney as a father to a girl is a much better fate for him than ending up with Robin, that never really felt right in the first place. (and now we know why)

The whole Ted/Robin thing...the timing was never right for them. Ted was looking for love...Robin had crazy plans for her career and travel-wise (which happened to come with her career). She got that. But, indicated by the zillion dogs, it seemed like she had settled down a bit and we already knew she thought she missed out on Ted. So, I kinda like that they found a way to be together later in life. But yes...if Tracy never died...he never would've went to Robin.

I also like the mirroring (which I mentioned in my EW comment) with Tracy finally moving on after her first true love died. Sure, we saw that as them both having baggage for 9 years and meeting at the perfect time. But it went beyond that. Tracy would've wanted Ted to move on...and she mentioned that in their 2024 conversation too.

It all works...it's all very emotional, which makes the story they told a good one. Even if it wasn't one we expected. I guess, if it was a more predictable end....there wouldn't be much to discuss after the fact and the show might just fade away over time.

As for their wedding, yeah you'd think there would be a couple more people there at least like Cindy (Rachel Bilson) and maybe Tracy's other friend from her flashback episode. But, it still worked as that wasn't the point of the finale. We were seeing the big moments of these 5 friends (And even Tracy).

I've watched that final 10 minutes now a few times. Each time it gets more profound and emotional for me. I wonder if people will come around on this one over time. Judging by LOST, I doubt it. lol We just live in a different age. A lot of finales from the 80s/90s had some pretty crazy final episodes. Newhart probably would've been slammed back in its day. lol Now we just remember it as hysterical. (granted, I don't think I ever watched that show but I like the concept. I told a friend of mine at work the concept of HIMYM from start to finish today. He never watched. But he thought the ending sounded awesome.)

OOOH one more thing. There's a rumor going around that #31 (Barney's baby mama) MIGHT be the main character in How I Met Your Dad and a way to tie the 2 shows together one day. They never showed her or named her so it's quite possible. That would totally be something these crazy writers would do. lol It could work but I think that conception happened about 4 or 5 years after the meeting, so they'd be planning on a pretty short spinoff! lol Of course, they may approach this spinoff much differently. Still, a funny idea thrown out into the world.

Leslie said...

Bates – Definitely a spark with Norma and the sheriff and lots of teenage loving going on! I also figure that Norman’s new friend’s dad will be the next he will black out on and kill. For a second, I thought it might happen in this episode. Can’t believe the brother stood in the way of that car! A little over and above the call of duty for his creep of a boss.

Blacklist – The blacklister of the week was pretty crazy and gross taking his nose off! Lol Liz going all crazy on Tom’s “brother” was pretty intense! I think Liz had to keep up the game with Tom at the end just like he was trying to do with suggesting they redo their vows. At this point, she doesn’t know what he is capable of, so even though he suspects she knows something is up with him, they are both pretending now.

Anonymous said...

Leslie on Blacklist--yea that marriage is overll

BTW, my money's on Liz winning/living--lol

Show is getting more intense.

The 100 - I'm finished with them. The promising elements of the pilot were teasers. This show lived up to the expectations of just another attractive teen story. If I wanted that, I'd watch one of the productions or recreations of Romeo and Juliet.

The 100 - stink, stank, stunk! So spoke the Boris Karloff and moi, aussi.

Mike V. said...

100 - I appreciate you letting me know, PJ. I haven't watched since the pilot. lol

mj said...

Helix - they def went to unexpected places. Some of the lines were off -like Hitoki telling Julia all he wantedto do was protect her fr Alaria - ok so why did he bring her there then? Made no sense. Was a few lines like that - that was the total opposite of the actions the chars had taken. Agree - did not see it coming that Julia goes bad and Peter was working for alaria all along. Oh yeah - and if Peter was working fot Alaria what was the point of Scythe pissing him off with all that 2nd place stuff since they were alone? And did they ever make it clear why they held mom all this time?

Blacklist- her going nuts on his brother was good. Wish they'd stop having thesame conversation - Liz asks for info Red says not now. I understand they want to draw out the reveal but stop asking then! And yet again Red had to tell her how to find her bad guy.

Justified - nothing too major - putting the pieces in place. Dewey Crow just cracks me up. Bartender had a good line - worst job ever.
Wonder if Raylan is going to get burned for letting Sammy kill that guy last year - since they brought it up again

Anonymous said...

mj, They held the Mon/wife captive to force Hataki into making the Narvik.

Yea, the Scythe/Peter stuff didn't make sense toward the end. By the time the Scythe threw Peter down and hurt his head I didn't know for sure if that was for effect or real. My guess is for effect. But as you say, no one was there so why all this personal bad stuff. Maybe they just don't like each other but work for the same group. That happens a lot in real life too.

Renewals--I just checked and it looks like Intelligence is going to have a hard time to get renewed. Revolution is possible for renewal.

Shield looks like it will get renewed Here's a link to some of the info.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2014/04/02/save-our-shows-usa-today-poll/7126737/

I really don't like but a few of the shows anyway. My favs right now are Vikings and Blacklist--and they've both been renewed. I don't count GoT because it's not on yet.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Yeah, I didn't think Intelligence had a good chance of renewal. Depending where you look Revolution is either "on the bubble" or "a long shot". We shall see!

Game of Thrones - not even a question that it will be renewed. It's just how HBO rolls that they renew it a few episodes (and sometimes 1 episode) into the new season. They've already extended the showrunner contracts for 2 more seasons. Can't wait for Sunday night!

Anonymous said...

My point about GoT is that I don't count it among my current favs since it's not currently being broadcast.

My wife and I watch BlueBloods and so glad it was renewed.

Richard

Mike V. said...

I know what your point was, but I don't follow that rule! :) lol

Mike V. said...

Richard - I looked at the link you posted. They have Revolution in the "canceled or nearly dead" category. Are you considering "nearly dead" as the possible for renewal? lol

mj said...

Helix - thats right! On why kept julias mom.

Vikings - forgot to say finally watched it. Man that priest is really messed up. And when word comes that the vikes lost against the christians the priest is the only one Ragnar asks about. Loved how the 'pagans' treated women better than the christians

Vikings--wow what an ep. I was rewatching some prior season eps and the mythology involved was greater than this season. Until this ep.

I love that they keep referencing Charlemegne--he did so much.

Jarl wasn't killed yet,but what Ragnar has planned for him sounds horrific.

LaGertha can't become an earl so it will be interesting what happens.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Vikings - Yeah, good episode. I had a feeling a Ragnar was setting up a bit of a Red Wedding of his own. lol

I just assumed Lagertha was going to convince those men to join up with Ragnar...you know since Ragnar killed off all of Jarl's men. They need the soldiers!

Yeah Athelstan's storyline is definitely interesting. He's definitely having some religious conflict...he had the visions of the stigmata going on and everything. Nice references to Charlemagne and of course the Roman Empire.

Crazy there's only 4 episodes left. I forget if these are shorter seasons than normal cable shows.

Anonymous said...

Vikings--yea the Priest and Ecbert's discussions were really about showing how much they are in the dark ages. Charlemegne did a lot to help reverse the downward trend after the fall.

LaGertha just may speak to her men about joining Ragnar. Especially since they have already fought with him. I hadn't considered that.

I'm very interested to see how they handle Horic v Ragnar going forward.

Siggy--it was great when Rollo just brushed her off. Their relationship just might come back though. They have actually helped each other when needed. But she's definitely a "climber wanna be" whereas Rollo seems to have come to grips with being what he is--which isn't a bad position in that society. Things will change when they start setting up their villages in Britain, etc.

Did you note how Bjorn said he grew to love Athelstan. Ragnar knows how important he is as does Ecbert. I think his importance is that he can help each of those men create a new/better society. And they know it. They don't want to just plunder/raid, they want to build to a position of greatness.

Vikings - behind again! Was catching up to rest of DVR.

Oddly what I watched last night had seriously good scifi cred. Revolution had mr friendly, Intelligence had BSG guy and a fave from SG1

Shield - also do not think Mae working with Clairvoyant. Loved the twist that cripple being used by Clairvoyent. Agent who left early was highly suspicious!

Intelligence - great ep. Was shocked who was the Iranian sleeper, and thing with her dad at end paying chick with chip - can't think of her name. His mom was funny. But u are right about actor who pkays her dad.

Hannibal - knew the chinese chick would be dead but yikes - where do they come up with this stuff? And when orderly had Lecter strung up I was like shut up and kick the bucket out! Lol

ModFam - 2 behind so just saw the Vegas one. Too funny

Turn - ugh - its on sundays? Yikes - why is everything on sundays!?! Its a dvr buster. Lol. Thank goodness AMC will repeat it cause besides GofT its The Shameless finale.

mj said...

Almost forgot - cute article on stuff thst was cut fr Himym finale

Also Richard - Continuum back tonight!

Mike V. said...

Vikings - yeah Siggy has been getting around! lol I agree, Rollo has come to terms with is place and it's been working out for him so far.

I agree that they recognize the importance of Athelstan.

MF - I'm way behind too. I don't even think I saw the Vegas one yet. And I thought we were only 2 behind. lol

Turn - Since when has AMC ever had a show not on Sundays? lol This will be taking Walking Dead's place, and Mad Men will return at 10pm next Sunday. Initial review from Matt Roush (TV Guide) on Turn is that it's pretty bland. We'll see!

Mike V. said...

HIMYM - Yeah, I really thought there would be a Robin Sparkles number at the wedding reception so that is disappointing that it didn't make the cut. And the Ted/Robin future lunch may have definitely helped the situation...but if there's a reason they cut it, then maybe it wouldn't have. I know the episodes will be on Netflix, but this may be tempting to get the final season on blu-ray to see these deleted scenes. I doubt I will though. lol

GAME OF THRONES - EW has been featuring lots of Game of Thrones interviews with the cast, but this is the one I look forward to every season. Interview with the showrunners Dan and Dave!

The most I can dvr at one time is 4 shows.

GoT--one ep is Oathkeeper. ONe key element of the article and in other places I've seen is that the show is killing off more characters than in the books. I'm wondering if that means it will make the reconciliation of the two different endings possibly difficult. I sure hope not. I will never forget my daughter identifying this series as the one which kills off the main characters. I am very tired of the Theon stuff.

DVRs - I can do 6 between 2 TiVos. There's rare occasions where I have to do 5 different ones lol

GoT - Yeah The Hound's interview just went up on EW. He made a comment that sounds like there might be a major twist for Book fans in this season. He said we think we know what's going to happen and a "major right angle" happens. lol Ohhh boy! The Theon stuff will be different this season. They won't do another season of pure torture, so that's a plus. His story gets more interesting as you know. But yeah...I'll be surprised how the show diverts from the books. Though, I can usually tell where the storylines will reconcile when they've done it in the past. We'll see how major they are!
