Didn't watch True Detective last night but did catch up on last week's so I know episode 7 looks to be a big one. We'll try to catch up tonight if possible.

Still didn't watch last week's Shameless but this was a strategic decision as we saw it didn't air against the Oscars last night.

Caught up on Justified.

Grimm - Nice fallout from the "meeting of the parents" drama into a predictable "let's all try to make this work" area. And looks like there may be finally some interesting movement on the Adalind front.

Anonymous said...

Didn't see Grimm.

But loved True Detective. I won't say much since not all have seen. But it really brings together a lot of the prior eps. And yes Carcosa is again in play--LOL. I think the last ep could be bloody.

Helix--another great ep. One scene reminded me of "Luke, I am your father"--LOL.

Richard

MJ said...

Helix - Had the same thought with "i'm your father. Even said it out loud ! LOL Dont think anyone was surprised - the the cabin in the basement was a surprise to me. So what - as a kid she was in a fake cabin in antarctica and thought she was in Montana? Did she never go out and play? A bit weird really

Grimm - yeah Adalind story finally progressing. Interesting Vesen this week too

True Det - didn't watch yet either.

mj said...

Vikings - from last weeks comments - husband thought same about modern themes. He even said that women were owed and would not talk to their men that way - I threw a pillow at him. LOL

Blacklist - Richard who is M tht you were wondering if they would be back ?

Thanks MIke for posting my stuff last week. I'm working from home today so can post freely for once

Mike V. said...

I don't watch Helix, but I must say that is the most misquoted line from Empire Strikes Back. lol They actually never say "Luke, I am your father" even if that's how Chris Farley said it in Tommy Boy. It actually goes like this:

Vader: Obi-wan never told you about your father.
Luke: He told me enough. He told me you killed him!
Vader: No, I am your father!

Of course, I don't expect anyone to be as crazy obsessed as I used to be with that Star Wars universe, but I couldn't resist! :-) lol (And while I've toned it down a few notches, I can't wait to see what JJ has in store for Ep VII!)

Vikings - That's hysterical your husband thought the same thing! Not that I agree with that way of life or anything, but it just seemed to clash with modern rules of society! lol

No problem MJ on posting your stuff. I'm working from home today too (expected a lot more snow than the dusting we got...but that didn't stop me from carrying out my original plan! lol)

Blacklist--M was the lady whom Red had a close relationship with. Seemed like she may have wanted a permanent relationship. She's the only person who can steal from him and he just smiles--at least that I've seen so far--and she has the ability to pass herself off as his wife. She sure left the door open. I actually liked her character and she worked well with Liz.

Vikings--I've got to see it. My wife might tell you that I belong to that age--LOL. It should be on DVR.

Helix--agree that it seemed weird she never went out and played. Of course I guess she could have, just assuming it was Montana--maybe she was drugged while they moved her????

OK, so the Star Wars quote is one name/word off, but the way Farley delivered it was just so funny and has taken root. Proof yet again that if you say the same thing over and over again, it can become THE truth. Love the fact that you know the real truth Mike--lol. So now we've got to figure out this silver eyed deal--are these aliens? I'm beginning to wonder from the way Constance was talking. That guy running away with the Narvik virus is going to cause all kinds of havoc.

Richard

Anonymous said...

Vader--I was just thinking about BBT with James Earle Jones ep. Didn't he quote the Luke, I'm your father line to Sheldon? LOL--that would be funny if he did.

Richard

Anonymous said...

True Detective--Check out the Winter Queen novel. May be related.

Only 1 ep left

Richard

MJ said...

Star Wars - you are so funny Mike ! LOL They say that the Star Trek one is the most mis-quoted.

Blacklist - the one he stood up in Florence ?

Helix - def think that guy leaving with the Narvik is trouble. Maybe how it leaves antarctica? I always assumed the virus spreads beyond. But what is with the heads? Why do they keep taking heads and storing them out in those tubes in the ice ? LOL

True Det - I thought last nights was the finale ? Glad to have another this coming sunday

Mike V. said...

Star Wars - Naturally, I meant no offense on the correction! But I have seen the Star Wars obsessed get overly annoyed about it! lol I agree, the Tommy Boy delivery was hysterical and it's funny that it became a common way of quoting the movie.

As for BBT, I'm not sure I remember him saying it, even as a joke....but it's totally possible! lol

I'm trying to remember the star trek misquote, but I can't think of it. Unless it's the "Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor...fill in the blank" lol

True Detective aired the 7th ep last night, so yes one more! :) I wonder what HBO will air Sundays at 9 for the dates in between TD and GoT??

Anonymous said...

Yea, M is the one he stood up in Florence and I'm betting the story he told her was true.

Helix--The head preservations are weird and high tech/costly. And it's like they've got some open ones for new dead heads, else how did they put Constance's head in one so quickly. Another reason why I think we're dealing with aliens or something. Remember the doctor's head she wanted. The heads must be useable for something. It would be so freaky if they can bring them back. I really didn't like Constance.

Beam me up, Scotty

Vikings--I didn't see the viking comments last week. But just saw the ep and again I love this show. The intro is great. Ragnar did have 2 wives, I thought they all 3 were together. He had children from both. I can't believe his wife left on the show. She's nuts I don't think that story is over yet. Raiding on the horizon. Gotta love the Princess. She has guts coming into that situation not knowing how she would be received and serving others. I can understand Legartha being upset. Multiple wives are possible in some countries today.

TD - Great episode again. It was nice to tie things together in the present day and explain further what happened to Rust and Hart in the years in between. And looks like we got a shot of the spaghetti faced killer at the end. The intricate details of the murder mystery sometimes get lost on me and all of the names of characters involved are tough to keep up with (I'm sure if I rewatched the show those details would all come together). But, the character drama is fantastic, and the plot is easy enough to follow without understanding all of those little details. Looking forward to seeing how this all comes down. MM is going to have an Emmy to put next to his Oscar pretty soon. Then he'll just have to record a spoken word album (the Ladies will eat it up!) and have a smash broadway success for his EGOT. lol

HIMYM - I've been trying to avoid considering the theory that is looming around many fans that the mother is dead in the future. Either the writers are playing into that theory now or they always had something like this in the mind. The episode, I should first say, was fantastic. I loved showing future Ted and Mother chatting it up...with mysterious undertones later to be revealed. Loved the present day stuff with The Wedding Bride Too and all 5 of them hanging out and realizing it's one of the last times they might be for the foreseeable future. And of course, Robin's mother showed up! (Tracy Ulman!)

Everything in the future with the mother not wanting Ted to dwell in his stories to the mirroring of "what kind of mother doesn't go to their child's wedding?" causing Ted to burst into tears.....definitely can lead one to think the mother is dead in the future and that is why Ted is telling this story. But, it could mean a variety of things. Maybe Ted's mom died. Maybe the mother is sick and they think she MIGHT die which causes Ted to appreciate every moment past, present and future. (And would tie in nicely to that scene last season where Future Ted creates a scenario where present day Ted runs to the mother's apartment and says that he wants to start making memories with her NOW instead of waiting until they meet)

It would be a tough sell with the kids looking visibly annoyed about this story their dad is telling them for a majority of it. I always say an ending can't retroactively ruin everything that has preceded it...and maybe that's still true...but an ending like that would certainly retroactively change one's viewpoint of the whole series that preceded it.

I still am leaning towards it being a Red Herring...one that they may carry right up until the final moment of the series. But, I think I can respect the writers' vision if it ends up being the case. Especially if what they filmed with the kids in the season 2 timeframe matches up to this vision. It would show it's what they had in mind since near the beginning and they stuck to their vision. I can respect that, it's just not how I would've done it! But, it's their show, their vision and it's great when showrunners get to tell their story and end it the way they always wanted to.

We shall see!

The Blacklist--a GREAT ep. So, the girl pursuing Tom does not work for Red but is following him--Lucy Brooks/Jolene. I thought I saw at one point where they were speaking to each other, maybe that was on something else. But her and Tom look to be working for the same people. Maybe this is about the war that is coming re by Red toward end of ep. Tom's doing what he's paid to do, to "love" Liz--LOL. That explains why he's such a doormat--LOL.

Liz did a decent job of detecting/working this ep.

True Detective--an idea I saw in another blog proposes that Rust is working undercover for a government agency or even possibly the governor Tuttle.

TD - Interesting thought. I guess anything is possible!

Bates Motel - Just as crazy as ever with the premiere. Not sure why I didn't see whatserface blowing off that dude's head. (I have to brush up on my character names on this show) For a second though, I thought maybe Norman didn't black out and kill the teacher, but they pretty much all but confirmed that he did it and Norma has gone into protection and cover-up the tracks mode. She had a pretty intense scene at the town council meeting too. Vaguely reminiscent of the Field of Dreams Student Council meeting where Costner's wife went to town about overconcerned parents and the books children are reading in school. lol Even though this was mainly about the Bypass, and the raising awareness of a corrupt town. Carlton Cuse can make some good television!

Leslie said...

The Following - anyone keeping up with this? It took an interesting turn last night with Joe becoming a "follower" of another weird cult guy! Felt really bad for Mike having to watch his dad be killed.

Haven't watched Blacklist or Bates yet.

Anonymous said...

Yes - beam me up. Which I swear they did say - but its been years now since I watched

Ragnar did have 2 wives? Is Vikings from a book or something that you know this?

Himym - refuse to believe mom is dead in future when Ted telling kids stories. Her 'you ca't livein stories' was a wink to Ted endlessly telling their kids these stories. Wedding BrideToo as movie and musical was hysterical. Tracy Ulman an odd choice.

Ted and mom stating what kind of mom doesn't go to kids wedding I think is one of there moms not going to theirs. Lol. Iam in denial that they will have mom die in her 40's or whatever age she would be.

Bates - agree on all you said. Did not see Bradley killing that dude. Also wondered if Norman did notkill teacher. Cuse has show after called Post or after - ripping off Talk Dead. Taped it.

Blacklist - havevto watch again. Somehoe despite being intrigued I fell asleep. But Tom heing put there with her reminded me of Orphan Black.

Hannibal - wish I could have rewatched season 1, but 2 off to good start. So creepy. Don't think any one else here watches though

mj said...

Oops - me above !

Mike V. said...

Vikings - Richard had mentioned last season that this is all based on History (hence the channel), but of course, it is a dramatization of that. But Ragnar is supposedly a real life person of history. And while he may have had 2 wives, I doubt things went down as it would in 20th/21st century America! lol

HIMYM - I'm with you...I'm still staying optimistic that this ends happily and whatever they're dealing with in 2024 is a minor setback in their happily ever after. But, I rewatched all of those scenes with Ted and the Mother from last night. There certainly is something traumatic happening or about to happen. Their eyes are teary throughout the whole conversation and they allude to the story Ted's telling that it's better to just enjoy the company you have rather than discussing the issues.

But, I think the writers are clearly playing up the fact that they know this rumor exists that the mother is dead. And maybe it was part of their plan all along for us to consider that. I just don't think the show will end that way. But who knows? Other sitcoms have had some somewhat downer endings (Wonder Years, Roseanne, etc...) But, for having Ted be hopelessly looking for the love of his life and us knowing he does eventually meet her (from the beginning)...to have it end with her being dead? I don't know about it. I'm sure they can play it up in a way that would be bittersweet and beautiful, but I don't think fans REALLY want that to happen even if they predict it might.

Bates - I heard about the aftershow, but did not record it. Is Carlton Cuse going to be a regular guest on that show? If so, then I might consider watching it. Though, Damon was always the one I found funny in that LOST combination...but the 2 of them together played off each other really well in interviews and podcasts. lol

I've heard Hannibal has gotten really good. I never got into it unfortunately!

Star Trek - there were variations of that said, but I don't know if the phrase "Beam me up Scotty" was actually ever said. lol

mj said...

Vikings -sure, makes sense when you put it that way ! J/k. but I know some ofbthe nameswerereal folk Loki, Odin, Eric, etc. Figured most were made up tho

AFter Bates - don.t know if he will be reg. Hubby about had a baby when i saw it anfd hit record. He keeps saying we watch too much now. Wait til he finds out I already set up for new show Ressurection. I think something else too. ha!

Sigh - himym gone 3/31, TwD done 3/30, Episodes done 3/16.

Mike V. said...

Vikings - Oh yeah, the supernatural/mythical stuff is all folklore, agreed. But, at least some of the characters are based on real-life stuff....from what I understand.

Too Much TV - I hear you. My wife is the same way these days. We just can't take on anymore. So, I've been just recording stuff in case "I" can get to it in the mornings. lol I am recording Ressurection as well. I do hear it will be different from the French version "The Returned"....same concept but different approach apparently. I set the TiVo for another show too but I can't remember what it is. Ohh yeah...the JJ Abrams/Alfonso Cuaron brainchild: BELIEVE. Bad Robot productions have been teasing this one for awhile. I'll check it out.

Shows Ending: While it is said for them to be over, I usually get excited because it's one thing less to worry about during the week. Of course, Game of Thrones will soon be on after they're done! And that one I never want to end. :) Mad Men comes back 4/16 as well....and then 5/5 - 24 Live Another Day! very excited for that one.

i.e. shows end, other exciting ones start back up. While summer is quieter, it's not as big of a break as it used to be!

Ragnar is still a question as to whether he really existed or not, most at this point think so. Historical records of the time/place are not plentiful. My bad, he had 3 wives per records. An interesting thing, he had many sons who are known to have existed and there are several historical sources about the son's conquests. His death is documented in some texts. His sons also changed Europe.

King Horik, in the show actually existed too.

BTW, the ship builders name is Floki which sounds a lot like Loki of course.

Thanks for the clarification, Richard. As you can tell, I've done NO research on the subject. :) lol

The Following--the show was finished last year--lol. Great actors. But, the story seems convoluted at this point to me.

Richard

Mike V. said...

The Following - Good to hear...I haven't even started this season yet and it's not looking good for me to start! lol

Anyone finish watching Almost Human? (I know the finale was last night)....did the pace ever pick up?

Anonymous said...

Intelligence--one of those eps that keep me from really liking this show. Just way too predictable.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Intelligence - Seems like I'm not missing much on this one. lol

SHIELD - Didn't watch but I read a recap. Sounds like they unveiled more on T.A.H.I.T.I. and fans are starting to be glad they stuck with it. Still...feels like a show I could just pick right back up and not catch up on the older episodes if I ever wanted to. lol

Didn't watch Justified last night and still didn't watch last week's Shameless.

New Girl - is all we watched last night, but it was funny as always. Glad the sister finally left...the apartments were already overcrowded...but I like how Schmidt (sp) threw the curveball that he's moving back in forcing Nick and Jess to live together. Loved the "George Washington Long Shirt" lol

2 episodes left in my Game of Thrones rewatch! Which means I'm up to the Red Wedding again! Forgot about all of the foreshadowing of stuff they did that may be coming in season 4. (naturally I'm being cryptic!)

Leslie said...

Blacklist - Crazy story with the "judge" and Red saving the FBI guy from that homemade electric chair! And, finally, we get confirmation that Tom isn't what he seems! I thought the girl was working for Red, too. Red didn't know this girl was following him until this episode, but he obviously knows there is something up with Tom because he has warned Liz all along, and it appears the girl was put there to test Tom's loyalty to whoever they are working for. Very intriguing!

GoT-I was at BestBuy and thought about buying the blue rays. Are they different from the Target versions--I've heard some crazy things about retailers and blue rays.

It's still too far away.

BTW, kind of related, but I don't like these long show absences. It just occurred to me that Madmen hasn't been on in forever. I've actually lost interest in the show. It may come back, but if it weren't for the GoT books, and a few blogs I would loose interest in GoT over these long absences. I know they know this because of all the promos they do throughout the absence. But a 10 show season really is too short.

Richard

Anonymous said...

The Blacklist--yea, it's almost crazy loyalty to the job for these people. Like they are on some kind of religious quest. Jolene and Tom, will be interesting to see where they go from here. It's kind of like an alarm went off and things are changing. Which matches what REd said about there's a war coming.

Richard

Mike V. said...

GoT - Target has exclusive discs in addition to the normal set that comes everywhere else. Season 3 had an panel interview with a lot of the cast, crew and GRRM...seemed like it was before season 3 aired. It was entertaining. Season 2 had a GRRM interview as well. Nothing essential, but a nice added touch for free. I'm guessing they're limited in supply though so there may not be any special bonus disc offers anymore. Hopefully they're still $29 but I'm sure that was just a 1st week sale.

Mad Men will be back April 16, but only for 8 episodes because they're splitting the final season into 2 halves of 8 just like Breaking Bad. IN other words, they're milking it! It worked in BB's favor ratings-wise but I don't think the same thing will happen with Mad Men.

I'm all for quality over quantity. Sure, they could churn out 22 episode seasons but the production quality would be crap. Do you know how much each one of those episodes cost for Game of Thrones? I'm sure it's a small movie budget. Think about the exotic locations they're filming in, the CGI work they have to do. And of course the set building, the writing, the casting....it's quite a process and I think I've heard they aren't really able to do more than 10 episodes a season. Last season they extended each episode by 5 minutes so over 10 episodes that's essentially an 11th episode. I'm fine with it. Sure, I'd love more game of thrones...but you have to consider what you're sacrificing with that idea. These things don't just get "MADE" in a few days.

Same with all the cable shows...shorter seasons allow for less filler and better start to finish themes. Even the Network 22 episode season isn't all that standard anymore. Fox does a lot of shows in shorter seasons now...and even mini-series like 24 returning in May. Serialized shows work better that way now. LOST had so much filler in seasons 1-3 when they finally compromised to 3 shorter seasons. Of course...there is an argument to be made for character building in those longer seasons...I wouldn't have traded those great moments of driving the DHARMA Van or playing ping pong or golf for more concise seasons following only the dramatic storylines.

So, in the end, I guess there are pros and cons to both. But with Game of Thrones, I think they're hitting the sweet spot. It's event television...and people know when it's going to return. Hopefully there will be another book to digest before season 5 graces us with its presence!

Anonymous said...

GoT--That's right, there's no new book and yes the promos/interviews during the off season helps. But I'm just not able to hold interest when nothing's there to hold onto. This blog helps a lot to hold interest, btw. Also btw, you know, unless the new book comes quick, we may have some serious filler---LOL Your point about it being like 11 eps is valid and could be argued to be even more compared to a commercial filled 40 minute/hour long show--LOL.

I love the quality and wouldn't want it sacrificed either. It's just money, right--LOL. And 18(any bigger number really?) eps would be fine, don't need 22.

I'm great with the 8 eps of True Detective. Since there's no next year to wait for 3/4+s of a year to have to hold my interest. I'm good with filler--character development, etc especially with a show produced like GoT. But, to me, much of the sex scenes have become filler to the point they have become boring.

LOST to me had the perfect balance. Fringe was not bad either. I too loved the VW bus rides and golf. And the bus particularly had payoffs toward the end.

Leslie said...

Mad Men - Have to correct you, Mike. It is back on April 13th. I mainly knew it wasn't the 16th because that's my b-day and it's not on a Sunday, so I looked it up. :)

Mike V. said...

Thanks Leslie! I clearly wasn't looking at a calendar and mixed things up there. lol I think I was thinking of April 6th being Game of Thrones day which is clearly a week before Mad Men on the 13th. My bad! lol

GoT - Very true on Premium cable vs. Network/Cable shows with their advertisements! There were rumors that GRRM signed a contract with HBO to launch another series that takes place in Westeros. Could be the Hedge Knight shorter stories he wrote...could be something completely new. But, if that ever launches, that may be what will need to fill in these gaping holes between seasons. Especially if they catch up too much with the books. You have to remember...there were sometimes almost 2 years in between Sopranos seasons...and every time it came back the ratings were even higher. HBO does things on their own schedule...but yeah...they're getting into dangerous territory with Game of Thrones. GRRM said on that extra disc he keeps convincing himself he has time....he's hoping they can get 2 seasons out of books 4 and 5 in parallel....and get them the 6th book out in the meantime which may be 2 seasons worth of material...and hopefully he can get book 7 done. It's all pie in the sky...and we all know he writes much more slowly than that. lol So, there will be an issue! I just hope they don't have to end the TV series before the book series is finished. It would be a shame to have 2 totally different endings...or to get a hint of what's coming in the books on the TV show first.

To your 18 episodes point, 8 more episodes is a lot more cabbage! lol And I logistically don't think they'd have enough time to get it done. Of course, I guess things could overlap like they do with Walking Dead. They do 16 episodes split into 8 in the fall and 8 in the winter....but when we're seeing the 2nd half of the season they're already working on the next season. But...if I try to compare the quality of Walking Dead vs. Game of Thrones...I would pray that Game of Thrones sticks to their current way of doing things! lol

I get the losing interest thing...but I look at it more like "Event television"...Game of Thrones...the anticipation grows with each month it's off the air. LOST was similar. I never stopped thinking about that show...and eventually it was off the air for 9 months at a time. Didn't matter...it just made me want it to return more and theorize more.

As for the "sexposition" of Game of Thrones, I agree. When it something that was in the books like Jon Snow and Ygritte or Jaime and Brienne...it works. But some of these other scenes are just HBO being HBO and it's over the top. Filler? Maybe some of it...but usually it serves a purpose. lol

Yeah...the bus definitely paid off in LOST...I even made that comment in the recap back then. Something we thought was an awesome filler episode ended up paying dividends down the road. LOST did have a good balance. But, when I look back...there was a lot of unnecessary crap in season 2. lol I loved the hatch stuff....but flashbacks were redundant and the tailies stuff is pretty painful.

There's the whole talent pool thing too. With shorter seasons, you can attract bigger names who have a few days/months to film something and then are freed up to do other things....if you're contracted to a network show, there isn't much wiggle room. True Detective being an anthology series is an extreme example being that they could cast Woody and Matthew in the roles since it was an 8 episodes and out type of thing. Of course...while they're out...the show will live on. True Detective season 2 will happen with a new story, new cast and it will probably air in the same timeframe next year. So, if you loved this show and look forward to more of the same, you're still playing the waiting game.

I guess I just live by the 80s Heinz 57 ad campaign. The best things come to those who wait! :)

Anonymous said...

True Detective--exactly it will be a whole new set up, so no dangling issues, the story is wrapped up. I also don't think about next years LOST eps--LOL.

Great points. I'm likely more impatient than you and loose interest easier--lol.

There definitely are shows where hiatuses are a buzzkill for me. But, it's usually the shows I'm on the fence about anyway.

The Following? Couldn't care less that it's back, and it showed in the fact that I never watched the premiere this season and therefore fell behind.

All of these POST-LOST shows that I've recapped (outside of Fringe which I started after I loved it). Flashforward, The Event, Revolution...they've all gone on hiatuses mid-season and by the time they got back, my interest was already waning. Of course, I'm still recapping revolution and I still enjoy it...but I'm not obsessed with it or anything! lol

But with Game of Thrones, LOST, and I'll even throw Friends in there (I was obsessed back in the day)...the wait only makes me want it to come back more. Of course, with these shows my obsession leads to me to rewatch the shows during the hiatus so everything is very fresh in my mind. So, that may lead to me not losing interest. I dunno?? lol

I get your points though!

For me though, especially with the very young children in the house, any hiatus is usually a welcome one! :-)

BTW...I may have shared these before...but here are TV Line's renewal scorecards for Network and Cable. Unless stated, nothing is certain yet but professional opinions.

http://tvline.com/2013/10/31/renewed-tv-shows-2014-renewal-scorecard-cancelled-series/#

http://tvline.com/2013/06/04/cable-tv-shows-renewed-cancelled/#

Looks like they need to be revised a little bit. I read one on TV Guide that listed Intelligence, Almost Human and Revolution as Long-Shots. And the Following as a safe bet.

Both lists agree that Revolution is a very long shot at getting renewed. I'm actually a little relieved. But, hopefully they get early enough notice to give some kind of resolution. lol

GoT--at least add it's title to your tags.

True Detective--I've always been bugged by the opening of season one showing guys walking and fire around them and the tree. Then when you see the murder site and Dora Lange, there is no sign of fire. If you look at this like a circle, maybe part of the finale will be tied to the opening scene with the fire.

Figures--the only show you mentioned as safe is the only one I don't care about and is way too long in the tooth for it's premise. I would not like to see REvolution go, it is getting better but after the last ep with Charlie in Charge--LOL it was harder to swallow. And I'm enjoying Intelligence too.

Don't have time to comment on everything but I definitely tag game of thrones whenever the episodes air. Lol that's usually the method to my madness.

Vikings tonight, looking forward to it. Legartha may come back into play down the road.

Mike V. said...

Vikings - Oh, I doubt she'll be off the show even though she's not with Ragnar. It's not like they didn't focus on her storylines with the family while Ragnar was away doing is fighting or impregnating. lol

TD - I always fast forward through the opening credits...actually the only opening credits I don't fast forward through are Game of Thrones because I like to see the changing map depending on what they're covering. lol And i love the tune! Anyway, I'll try to remember that as I watch the final episode. lol

Cancellations - I guess it just doesn't surprise me, even with Revolution so I'm prepared for it. I'd certainly like to see more of Revolution, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if it ended either. But I would prefer closure to the story. Intelligence I never got started with, and from what I gather most people aren't into it too much...which would make sense if it's being considered for cancellation! lol

Anyway...these are just analyst opinions with maybe a little insider knowledge. You never know what may change that in the coming weeks.

Americans - Watched this moring. Another great episode. They're definitely bringing the fear for family's well being into the equation well.

mj said...

Believe -will check it out too.

Vikings - they mentioned Loki as a god one time.

Following - i've been enjoying it. Been very quick paced and already quite the body count

Alm human - no change in pace. I like it but nothing to rave about

Those who kill - anyone watch? Was after Bates on A&E. Like Chloe Sevigny so checked it out - pretty good. Procedural but a little darkand creepy. Leslie - you might like it.

After Bates - was that a one time thing? Don't see it on again next week

Vikings--Yes Loki, Odin, Thor, etc all Viking gods and mentioned several times. I was just trying to clarify the shipbuilders/Ragnar's friend's name--Floki--for the longest time I thought they were calling him Loki--lol.

TD, the fire is not in the credits, but opening of ep1 before murder scene. It's like one man is trying to help another man walk. It has always bugged me and as I'm writing this the show's runner said that everything about the show is in the first ep. I am also wondering if like the Winter Queen, the Yellow King is a position vs a particular person over the decades. I also believe Maggie is more involved than so far identified. Her coming to the bar to check into what was going on is interesting as was Rust's dismissal of her. I'm getting pumped for the finale and it's only Thursday.

TD - It'll be interesting if Maggie is more involved. I think I had a quick thought about that after this past sunday's ep but dismissed it. lol I did suggest in previous episodes that maybe there isn't just one killer (or Yellow King or whatever lol).....that maybe there were many over the years but the concept stays the same. The whole conversation about things repeating themselves a few episodes back is when I started considering that. We'll see. I'm sure I won't watch until Monday at the earliest. lol

Following - I'm sure if we ever get to it, it'll be this summer! It'll be easier to find the time then. Of course, we've been saving TVD, Revenge and Nashville too so who knows? Speaking of Revenge...how has it been this season?

Almost Human - Yeah, that's unfortunate...I'm sure it's an entertaining show but it just seems to be missing a key element to make it MUST SEE worthy for me.

Those Who Kill - Didn't watch it...probably won't! :)

After Bates - I just assumed it was a weekly thing, maybe not. Maybe they'll do it after key episodes?

Believe and Resurrection - will check out both.

Revolution and Intelligence - gave up on both.

Following - I'm still enjoying it, too.

Those Who Kill - didn't know about it before seeing it advertised while watching Bates.

Bates & After - Mike, just read your previous comments, and I thought of the Field of Dreams council meeting, too! lol As for the After show, didn't care for the host or the other producer with Cuse. Will skip that next time.

Hannibal - MJ, I watched this last year and saw the premiere. I keep wanting to like this more than I do. Just don't really like the guy playing Hannibal.

Shield--I don't think I've already commented--lol. Anyway a great ep actually. Who was the man with the upper half and bald head--almost looked like some kind of super hero or villain???

The clairvoyant almost sounds too powerful to be true.

Hannibal - he talks weird right? Lol

After bates - female producer - she was odd

Hannibal - Is the guy playing him the villain from Casino Royale? (The Daniel Craig version) Surely it is...he's a creepy dude. lol

Bates - Too funny Leslie. I loved that movie!!

Vikings - Okay, so while I was watching I was Wikipedia'ing on my phone at the same time. So, now I understand more the legend of Ragnar as Richard was explaining. His sons are the famous ones...and he is somewhat of a legend and may or may not have existed. But the legend tells of his 3 wives. We've seen 2 of them so far. I like the ol' 4 years ahead shift they did this episode. So, now Bjorn will be probably played by an older actor. And Ragnar's new wife has 2 boys with one on the way. All of these sons have famous names according to the wiki entry.

I wonder if the story of Ragnar is only meant to be the beginning of this series' tale. The show is called VIKINGS....so there's nothing saying they can't advance time even further when Bjorn and these other sons are conquering lands.

Anyway, this was a better episode even if I still sense some modern sensibilities in their dialogue! lol I like that the priest is full on viking now too.

Here's the wiki link to Ragnar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragnar_Lodbrok

Justified - Finally watched this last night. Nice one-off story for Raylan with the Crowe family. Of course, it led to a breakup with Amy Smart (didn't see that coming! lol That was sarcasm...) Lots of drama going on south of the border with Boyd and HIS Crowe drama. Basically...I guess this one was just setting up future conflicts. Oh and then there's the Ava in prison thing...which just pales in comparison to Orange is the New Black. lol Still a great show!

Didn't get to Scandal last night and STILL have to watch Shameless from 2 weeks ago.

Have 15 minutes left of my Game of Thrones rewatch. lol The bonus features on the last disc are very cool. Lots of background stories on the different regions of Westeros and the different houses within each land (i.e. Bolton, Frey, Karstark, Stark, the Night's Watch etc... of the North) All just enhances the story being told on screen...and even helps book readers keep it all straight.

Vikings--it would be intersting if they took them to the Norman/Saxon time frame.

Will watch last nights ep, tonight via dvr. Too many things hit me last night--lol. I did see some promo stuff with Lagertha battling. That was definitely modernized--lol. Ep 1 opened at 796, so now we're at 800 or close. Egbert in Wessex was a big deal.

Vikings - I'm not sure if you know what's upcoming on the show or if you're just speculating so I'll just wait until you see it. I'll just say "interesting observation"! :) lol

Vikings--the Norman/Saxon stuff is about 200 years into the future. This era of history is one reasons I like GoT.

Rollo is proof that a successful man needs a great woman--lol.! Siggy's also hedging her bets. I don't think Aslaugh trusts her.

The prophesies were great.

King Horic is going to cause some issues with not keeping his pledge on the raiding. And what a weasel having Ragnar be the bearer of the news.

Interesting that the Vikings use their shields like the Romans. The Romans were famous for the turtle and other methods of shield use in combat.

The arrow attack reminded me of the storm troopers--great shots that can't kill anyone--lol. The English became famous for their use of the bow.

Vikings - I just meant Egbert of Wessex was an interesting observation since you hadn't seen the episode yet. lol

Yes, the medieval-ish genre is a big draw for me too. Of course, GoT exists in a fictional universe so time periods are merely similar in theme rather than an actual time period in our history! lol

Funny on the Stormtrooper comparison. Though, they did manage to kill Horic's son didn't they?

AFter all these years of studying history there is so much I don't know. Charlemagne was a big deal about this time period as well. The British Island if you will was a few centuries after Roman rule and various people were coming in to fill the void. Wouldn't get straightened out for many more centuries. This land was kind of wild while mainland and Eastern(Constantinople) Europe was a lot more civilized. The Muslims were also ransaking/conquering/pillaging many countries and were putting into place the notion of--"accept Islam or die"--untold were killed. I believe the Huns had recently run their course. GoT of course has some tie to the war of the roses--15th century.

The death of Horic's son was never clear. It would be strange if none of the Vikings were killed--lol. But, they look to have lost over 1/2 their ships in the crossing.

I do love the ravens in GoT and Vikings. And now they're both talking dragons--lol.
