Okay, had a successful weekend of watching television! lol I watched Grimm, ONCE and The Walking Dead. I'll comment on them a little later. And of course, I'll have a mini-recap of TWD later too.

You know what I just started to realize? The Walking Dead season finale airs at the same time as the Game of Thrones season premiere. And you know the worst part of all of this? It's Easter Sunday!!! Big family day in my household. lol Something tells me I'm just going to go with less sleep that night. :)

Grimm - Rosalee is part of the Vesen Council ! How cool. Loved that Monroe did not share that with Nick - guess you can't share all Vesen secrets with the Grimm. I got that Juliette was struggling to get her memories back - in the end on the phone you heard what Nick & Monroe were saying to her right before she passed out into her coma, but I don't quite get the dark holes in the house. Symbolizing the holes in her memory maybe ?

No Once or Revenge yet.

TWD/GofT - I realized it a few weeks ago. And I'm screwed. Besides the finale of TWD, I don't have HBO right now as I have Showtime so I can watch Shameless. SHameless ends 4/7. SO I can't switch to HBO til 4/8. HBO will have the premier weekend of GofT free so I can watch the first ep but can't watch the second until I switch over the day after it airs. So I will be a day or two late to comment on the second ep. SIGH.

I think I'm taking easter monday off now LOL

Grimm,
I thought the holes were vacancies left from her problems with Nick, lots of interpretation possibilities. When she took the call from him downstairs they filled in and his blood was in the potion she drank. The holes around her bed brings this into question though. Juliette not wanting to open her eyes and listen to those around her may be part of the problems she's having too.

Glad to have Rosalee back and more involved.

Grimm - LOL...nice on the symbolism. I have no idea...didn't consider that but it makes sense. Creepy has hell though. I didn't realize that was what they were saying to her when she went into her coma either. Good stuff. And yeah true that they can't tell the grimm everything! Good episode once again though. I liked the case of the week too with the vesen exposing their true selves to avoid being identified. Interesting ideas from Richard too on the holes. Funny, I did not even try to attempt solving any symbolism from them. But, it makes sense to try! lol

GofT/TWD/Shameless - That's one crazy schedule!! lol I guess I'll stop complaining. lol But yeah, taking Easter Monday off may be a good idea!

Haven't watched Shameless yet...that's usually a Monday viewing for me. lol

BTW - There's been several Game of Thrones trailers being released lately. They all look awesome! It was funny, they went from 0 publicity up to a few weeks ago and now it's a total onslaught of promotions. Love it! Judging by the success of the Season 2 Blu-Ray/DVD sales, I'd say ratings will be up even higher this season. Good news for a hopefully quick renewal!

2 random thoughts.

Bates Motel - Anyone going to watch this? The only reason I'm pondering it is because it's Carlton Cuse's (co-showrunner with Damon Lindelof) first show since LOST. But the concept is a little silly. A modern day prequel to Psycho to show how Norman Bates became who he became? I set the tivo for it, but we'll see when I get to it. lol

Firefly - I was debating what to watch this morning on the treadmill, finally hit play on Firefly in my netflix queue. I'm 50 minutes into the pilot episode. Pretty impressed so far!

mj said...

Himym - u re a d the latest tidbit about the wedding that theyare now not saying we will getin the finale? And what they are hinting at for next year?

Mike V. said...

HIMYM - I haven't read anything yet. is it on EW or somewhere else?

Banshee--don't know if anyone's watching, but great finale on Friday.

Mike V. said...

Richard is that the one on Cinemax? I heard good things about it, but I don't have the channel!

It is, and one of only a few.

I had heard about Banshee but also don't get Cinemax.

Anyone going to check out Bates ? I will.

Anonymous said...

I looked at the Bates previews and wasn't too interested in it.

Checked out some of the new GoT previews. It's fun to watch those and try and figure out how they're being used vs what I think I know. Controlling dragons, interesting thought--LOL. And Daenerys will have her army and dragons this season. 13 days and cooouwntiing--per the accent in some 007 movies

ONCE - Nice twist at the end that I didn't see coming! Won't say anything until MJ has watched.

No Revenge yet.

Bates - I'm gonna record it out of curiosity. You never know.

Cult - gave up on this after Friday's episode. Just not keeping my interest.

Mike V. said...

@Leslie -

ONCE - You didn't see it coming? lol Oh man I figured everyone would see it by the end of the episode. But, maybe it was because I caught on early. Since I knew it was a flashback, I figured it would have to tie in somehow to the present day story. So, I just said outloud to my wife "I'll be that kid is Ethan Embry's character in the present". So for the rest of the episode, it just seemed obvious to me where it was going. Especially when we got more Ethan Embry screentime. lol Here's a big question though...do we think that Owen's Dad was wearing the "life preserver puffy vest" in honor of Marty McFly's Back to the Future attire? lol

@Richard

GofT - Oh yeah..a lot of the previews are just reaffirming where things are going this season based on what I've read. I'm getting all unsullied with anticipation! :-) lol

Bates - Yeah, I'm not too interested either. It's the Cartlon Cuse factor that has me somewhat interested. But, I'm probably more likely to follow Damon Lindelof's next outing than Cuse's just because he was half of the brains behind the genesis of LOST. Plus the dude just cracks me up. lol

mj said...

I,m curious about Bates, heard part FNL, part Twin Peaks and part Lost. That intrigues me

Anonymous said...

BTW, the newest show I'm enjoying is The Vikings on History Channel. Radnar at work.

The Following, something has me wondering if Nick isn't going to be a target. For instance, if he keeps getting in the way of Ryan being involved, Joe will want to take him out.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Yeah, that definitely sounds like something I can relate with. lol

Well, maybe after I get through Firefly (and Serenity of course)...I'll work on catching up on The Americans (letting them pile up on the DVR so I can plow through em). And then I'll be able to check out Bates in Bulk as well. lol

Leslie said...

ONCE - You know, as I was typing that, I thought maybe I had been slow on that one! Leave it to you, Mike, to rub that in! :) Funny on the puffy vest! But, what about MM now? Will she really turn dark? Can't be!

Mike V. said...

@Leslie

ONCE - LOL, didn't mean to rub it in! If you feel better, I was planning to write that before I even read what you wrote. I just modified it a bit afterwards. :) lol I thought I did catch on earlier than most would have and was proud of myself because of that! It just seemed really clear to me that's where it was going by the end. But that's probably because I was "looking" for the twist at that point. lol

As for MM going dark? Yeah, I'm sure it'll be something she'll be dealing with the rest of the season (maybe more), but somehow she'll be able to cure it! Or, it could just give her character even more of an edge going forward! lol

@Richard - I've heard good things about Vikings. May have to check it out eventually. Too many channels with shows these days!

The Following - I actually had to look up who Nick was. lol But, now that I know it's the new chief dude, yeah I can agree with that. Joe defintiely wants Ryan to follow a certain path!

Anonymous said...

You have got to check out the Vikings, if not for just the opening. It is very cool. I think you'll like it.
Richard

MJ said...

Following: Follower seemed crazier than usual this week ? Her husband chated so she killed him and his lover, then is going around killing all the Claire Matthews to hurt Ryan cause he's a cheater. Whew ! Loved the spear gun one though. Awesome how ryan shot the other follower. Bye paul - won't miss ya ! Roderick toying with Emma was fun though. Agree that Nick could become a victim.

Firefly ! OMG - you're gonna watch that this year ? About time ! LOL

Shameless : OMG! Mandy totally ran Karen over ! And Ew - with the hair in the grill. And Frank as a gay spokesman ? Really ? LOL I had been thinking that while both girls are WT at least Mandy had Lips best interests at heard while Karen is a skank. But damn ! Mandy is totally psychotic. Felt so sorry for Ian about Mickey - didn't realize that Mandy did not know about Ian and Mickey, only that Ian is gay.

Mike V. said...

Okay, I set my TiVo for it to record new episodes plus reruns. We'll see if it picks up a few of the ones that already aired!

That said, I'm really enjoying my run through Firefly. Finished the pilot episode, and almost done the Train Heist. Maybe after I watch it all, I'll realize why people have been clamoring for more of it ever since it ended. lol

Shameless - WOW...the car scene...that's all I'll say. I'm forgetting the other girl's name (you know the one that's better for Lip than Karen lol). Can't believe that happened. Unfortunately, I already watched the preview for next week so I know where it's going next. lol (i'll stay mum) Loved Lip's discussion with the MIT guy. C3PO, he's pretty badass. You know he's fluent in over 6 million forms of communication? lol Frank the Plumber...the whole thing is hysterical. his roommate was cracking me up all episode too. Fiona at the office job and the websites, outfit, language. Hysterical. Steve/Jimmy is definitely going to lose it soon...but maybe there's a glimmer of hope with his med school revelation. Deb and Joan Cusack had some touching scenes. Ian and Mickey's argument was pretty rough! That's enough random thoughts. lol

HIMYM - Not the greatest ep, but I still laughed a lot and enjoyed it. The Fortress of Barnitude. lol Good times. The rips on Downton Abbey, fantastic. The switcheroo on Barney/Robin discussing adoption, classic HIMYM and their self-awareness. It was just a post February Sweeps episode biding its time until it's time to ramp up to the finale. Worked for me! Plus, the stuff in Barney's apartment was pretty funny!

The Following - Whew, I'm almost out of steam here. Another good episode though! That dude finally got his first kill (love how I know all the names?). The hunt for all of the Claire Matthews was pretty intense. That girl (the follower) was pretty convincing as crazy! Everyone else usually has a lot more to say on this one, so I'll just let you have at it! :) lol

Mike V. said...

MJ, looks like we were posting at the same time! lol

Shameless - MANDY, that's her name! Yeah, I didn't realize she didn't know Ian/Mickey were an item either. Of course, Mickey technically doesn't realize it either! LOL Probably neither girl is good for him. Lip needs to get his butt to school and never look back. But, obviously, this is Shameless...it's not gonna go down that way!!

Firefly - Yeah, I pressed play on Netflix on a whim and haven't looked back! Loved Mal telling the doc that the girl (can't remember her name, but she's works in the engine room) was dead...and we all bought it hook line and sinker...but then he's laughing about it afterwards, because she's fine. Good stuff! So crazy to watch all of these actors/actresses in this show after I've seen them in so many other things.

MJ said...

FOrgot - HIMYM - Loved Barneys bed - and want to know where it goes! LOL And the floating head. Loved Ted pretending to be a Brit too. Totally got fooled about the adoption thing too.

LOL on Shameless - and we were saying same stuff. Yes - stuff on C3PO was awesome. I loved that Fi just left all those penises up on her screen !

Firefly - haven't seen it now in over a year but i want to say the engine room girl is Kaylie. Love this show as you know - strange mix of cowboy bravado and space. And it takes getting used to when they throw in these seemingly Japanese words. yeah - seeing the guy play Jane before we knew him on Chuck - LOL

Mike V. said...

Firefly - Yeah...Adam Baldwin (Casey/Jane)...still pretty much the same character. Maybe a little less grunting! lol He was also in The Patriot back in the day too. Also Monical Baccarin (V, Homeland) playing a prostitute. lol And Summer Glau of course. Oh yeah and Kate Austen's ex-husband playing the lead? Who is that guy!?! lol kidding...Nathan Fillion. I can see now why fans of the Uncharted video game series wanted him to play Nathan Drake if they ever become movies. (I'm a fan of the games myself, but I think he's a bit too old to play him now. lol) Kaylie sounds right too! lol

Firefly, I really like the finale movie. A few good surprises, but one dangling participle if you will.

The Following, more sacrificial dieing/killing. Nick was letting Ryan work, probably saved his life--LOL. Emma's face at the end was great, Roderick got her. I wonder if he was a little worried she wanted the #2 slot and he hasn't been successful at getting Claire?? Waiting for Westin to ID Roderick. Interesting numbers on the followers--200 or so. I wonder if the FBI is right, ie who would take the over/under on that.

Continuum--great ending. Carlos not remembering wasn't surprising, but disappointing. Keira going away on the boat with Kellogg was surprising, I wonder how that will effect the time continuum. The Kagame/Alec conversations--all of them- were great. Didn't see the Kagame suicide bombing coming, nor his birth afterwards. Looks like in S2, Alec will start coming into his own. Looking more like, whatever happened happened, ie a bucket effect out of a tsunami. But something's got to change, somehow in a big enough way, at least that's what the older Alec thinks. Who is her "guardian angel"? The federal guy was great to watch when he was watching Keira use her tech, particularly when disappearing. I will miss this show on Monday nights.

Richard

mj said...

Firefly movie real shocking thing - wont say what.

Havent watched continuum yet. Was it the finale?

Mike V. said...

I'll wait to watch Serenity to comment on any shocking twists! lol

HIMYM - Was spitballing in the EW comment section and thought more about that TV Guide article. I have an idea of how the rest of the series might go. Tell me if I'm crazy! lol What if, they take this season right up to the Barney/Robin wedding and then just skip it? What if we skip right past Ted meeting the mother? What if we just show him dating the mother and proposing to the mother, marrying the mother...getting pregnant with the first child..etc... And then the series finale rewinds and shows Barney/Robin's wedding and Ted actually meeting the mother. I'm sure it would present a bunch of challenges to the writers...but they could be fun challenges for them and it might spark new life into the final season. Plus...everyone gets their cake and can eat it too. People get to see Ted with the Mother....and the series still ends with him meeting her (even though we all meet her earlier). The more I think about it..the more I like it!

Anonymous said...

Yes, Continuum finale was last night and they announced a season 2, but not when. Since you haven't seen it I won't spoil by going on about more good stuff. They finished off some story lines and started a few others. Some of them are surprising and good to watch.

They really got into the time travel implications though.

Richard

Leslie said...

The Following - The killer of the week was definitely CRAZY! But, I think Ryan saying that there was a dual motive to not only hurt him, but to get the real Claire to come out of protective custody makes sense. Agree with Richard that there may be some competition between Roderick and Emma, but Roderick sure got her in the end with Jacob showing up.

Anonymous said...

Leslie,
yea, I was afraid that Ryan was going to insist on seeing Claire which would tip off Joe where she was.

Richard

Leslie said...

Richard - I thought the exact same thing.

It was pretty funny when Amanda had "Claire" with a nail gun to her head and was talking to Ryan, and he said this wasn't the real Claire, and she yells, "It’s a freakin’ metaphor, Ryan!” lol

Mike V. said...

Did love the metaphor line. lol

mj said...

Himym! Oh my. That would fit withthem suddenly not promising the wedding. It really would work. I've always been one who did not just want to meet her but wanted to see them date. They could even time jump to the teenage kids we've been seeing but we`d see older ted and mom andthen theyd finally tell how they met together. Lol. mom could even chastise ted for taking too long to tell the story! That would be fabulous

Anonymous said...

It certainly brought to the front the idea that they're "writing"

richard

Mike V. said...

@MJ
HIMYM - Yeah, the more I think about it the more I really like the idea! I know they had filmed additional stuff (probably back in season 1) with the teenage kids. Obviously, they'll be 8/9 years older than they were that first season now so, I'm not sure how much they can do with these 2 unless it's further into the future than the story day. lol But yeah, I do like the idea of the mother joining into the story and yelling at him to speed it up. I think they could possibly do some flashback stuff too with the "how i met your father" route. We could see stuff from the Mom's perspective. Maybe she's been on the same kind whimsical journey as Ted. We could see her losing the yellow umbrella, getting it back....maybe almost running into Ted in Rachel Bilson's apartment. See her in the WRONG CLASS that Ted was in. ...there was that club that Ted was at once and he said the mother was there. There was some random girl he ran into that night for a brief second (i think he was drunk)...and they had a brief exchange. I always wondered if that was the mother. lol It was so random. They could have similar characters that she ran into on our journey that Ted ran into too. They could do some fun stuff with that too. The more I think about it...I'm definitely intrigued by the extra season. But, for any of this stuff to happen, the audience definitely needs to meet the mother at the end of this season or near the beginning of next season. I could see that being the cliffhanger this year. We skip right past the wedding...and Ted is with someone...and either in dialogue or by a panned camera shot of the woman...we meet the mother....roll credits on season 8. I should write this damn show! lol

Justified - Holy crap - they really beat on poor Constable Bob. And Boyd took some hits too. Stuff with Tim and Colton was seriously tense. And poor cousin Johnny has now been outed as a traitor to Boyd - feeling he is not long for this world. Only 2 eps left. SIGH.

HIMYM - I think you just story boarded the rest of this season and all of next !

Mike V. said...

HIMYM - Seriously, I would not be surprised if it's close! Of course, I kinda figured out the finales of the last 3 seasons...so I really wouldn't be surprised. LOL

Firefly - On to episode 4! Ep 3 was the one where they found the abandoned ship that they thought reavers (sp?) got to...but it was just some crazy dude on the ship. And Doug Savant (Melrose Place, Desperate Housewives) was the Alliance captain. lol Started ep 4...looks like Mal wants to make Monica Baccarin's character jealous by attending the same fancy ball where she's trying to be wooed by some rich dude. lol

Justified - Great episode! Bob did get beat up...and I figured he'd get the upper hand by the end, which ended up being the whole point of the scene. Other than that, I thought the scene was kind of silly. They obviously knew that Drew Thompson was at the school!! lol Johnny being a goner by the end of the season. I'd agree. It's a shame the actor's role on Revolution got killed off too. lol Really thought Eva was going to take down what's his face. The Tim/Colton movie discussion was hysterical! lol Loved that they got the upper hand on him. (colton) Great episode, great season. I hate for it to end, but I'll be happy to be free of a 10:00 show on a tuesday! lol

New Girl - Man, fantastic once again. Definitely my favorite sitcom these days. It's a "nose out of the iPad" type of show for me! lol

MJ said...

Firefly - oh the ball one might be the ep that has the best Kaylie line ever ! I can't remember for sure though i fit is this ep or not. Something about 'twixt her nethers' LOL

Continuum - how awesome was it to have both CSM and Krycek on the same ep ? LOL Agree on Carlos. But why did Keira get on the boat with that guy? Where are they going - just a get away or something ? I watched this late and was a little tired by the end. Felt sorry for her when she realized the future guy was totally bats**t. Kagami - I thought Alec's brother was Kagami so shocked the infant was. And now Alec's bro is the one who will teach Kagami. Whew! This Esher is the guardian angel - so is he another guy who is here from the future? It's been a great show - I too will miss it.

New Girl - Not there yet. LOL

Once - finally got to see it. Wow - so did not see it coming that Snow has a blackness growing in her heart now that she has done evil. Very clever as now Regina can just sit back and watch. I did not see it right away that the guy from Pa (lost had man from tallahassee Once has guy from Pa LOL) was the little boy who was camping when the town appeared, but yes I knew it before they revealed. the campers dad was orig from Brothers and Sisters and I think that kept distracting me. So - who made Charming Sherriff by the way ? LOL - And doesn't snow work any more ? Of course Henry never goes to school either. Any why was Henry calling Regina Mom again - he said it like 5 times.

Mike V. said...

New Girl - Don't worry i didn't spoil anything. Just saying how much I love the show. lol

ONCE - Man from PA...nice. lol Hmm...I forget who made Charming Sheriff...or if there was an actual scene with his induction. But, I think the fact that everyone is awake from their curse now...they all just look to him as a leader now anyway. Maybe, that is the same reason Snow never works! lol (but I doubt it. They probably just abandoned her whole employment angle of the show for now) Maybe every episode happens on a weekend? lol As for Henry calling Regina mom...I dunno...maybe a force of habit. It's kind of weird. Kind of like how Alex still didn't want to see Ben killed in front of her even when she was finally reunited with her real mother/family. Maybe a bit of a stretch! lol

Anonymous said...

Continuum--MJ, glad you liked the finale. Yea, Keira leaving with Kellogg is definitely a huge teaser. Especially when you thought she had feelings for and worked well with Carlos. Evidently Alec has resources in play we didn't know earlier. So I'm guessing that Keira's guardian angel is one of Alec's resources.

So, can they change the future? Or will it be a bucket's effect on a tsunami?

Richard

mj said...

I think they can change the future - or at least their part. If Alec does not build the things he does then that is obviously changing what will be. Will someone else create that stuff? Maybe, but he has the suit as a big help in his thought process. Now - can they change something big like prevent the corps from taking over? Thats an awfully big thing to stop - would take many changes to affect something that big. I do think they could have stopped the bldg from getting blown.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Richard I haven't looked yet but I did read that they can't get to all the characters until far into the 2nd episode. Lol

MJ said...

New Girl - was pretty good. Jess on those painkillers was hysterical, as was the guy in the bar kissing Nick, and them yelling at eachother - calling her a gold digger. I'm usually so against shows putting chars together - but so far this is ok.

Mike V. said...

New Girl - Yeah, it's always a gamble to get the characters together, but with these 2 it was pretty inevitable. I like how they're handling it. They're both a mess, and their getting together is messy too. Lots of comedy there. Whether they go the FRIENDS route and get them together and break them up, or The Office Route and get them together and keep them together....well that remains to be seen. lol

But, even outside of them there is still Schmidt and Ce Ce (really don't know how to spell that lol) drama....and just Schmidt comedy. I am a fan of Winston too....though the critics just constantly say he is the weak link of the bunch. It would be interesting to know how different a comedy this would've been if Damon Wayons Jr was able to get out of his contract with Happy Endings. lol It'll also be interesting to see if Happy Endings gets cancelled, if they'll bring him on as a guest star (or possibly more lol)

mj said...

New Girl - i like winstin, the eps they give him something to do hes really good.

Revenge - whew, took me all week but finally got it watched. Picked up fairly quickly that the brother ?Eli? knew she was Amanda. Jack being all plotty and untrusting feels so weird. Loved queen V not letting Em co-chair. Got lost with the money thing and the charity, guess the Greysons will somehow hide their money in this charity?

Excited for Grimm tonight and of course TWD sunday

MJ said...

Cy and Mellie are becoming like children fighting over a toy already ! Godd for Abby - telling Harrison that she now knows their friendship is never number 1 when discussing how he tanked her relationship with David. Pres's comment to Olivia 'you didn't think I was good enough to be pres' made no sense - she obviously thought you were good enough or why break the law to get you there ? Liv's new boyfriend don't mess around - poop paparazzi! Loved the two women each with their own wine bottle. And the other chick (can't think of the name) was just awful at tailing - though was funny when she had to give up her shirt.

MJ said...

Oops - meant to label the above Scandal ! LOL

Mike V. said...

LOL...I was like "who the hell are Cy and Mellie??" I have heard Scandal has been great this year. It'll eventually be on netflix so maybe we'll catch up one day. We still have Nashville, TVD, 30 Rock and who knows what else to catch up on this summer...so we'll be pretty busy!

New Girl - Totally agree on Winston.

Grimm -Excited too! Though I'll probably watch later in the weekend, time permitting.

Firefly - Through 6 episodes. Surprised to see Mad Men's Christina Hendricks (Joan) in the last episode I watched. She played Mal's "wife" that he accidentally got married to. Of course it was all a ruse and she poisoned him with a kiss..then Monica Baccarin (don't know how to spell her character's name lol) kissed him and passed out too. Good times. It's a fun little show. Guess I'm almost halfway through. I did see that Serenity is also streaming on Netflix so I'll be able to watch that after I watch the rest of the episodes. And then I will have done my Sci-Fi duty. Pretty big year so far. Alien, Aliens, Prometheus and Firefly. All of this stuff I should've seen years ago! lol

Mike V. said...

Well..exception being Prometheus :)

mj said...

Lol agree on Promethius. Still can't believe u never saw Aliens. Cracks me up to see guy from Mad About You can the bad guy.

I dont watch madmen but yeah that was her. I can't think of morenas char name but liked her alot in this. The whole prostitute/geisha thing. Alway9s liked thar pilot and black chick were such an odd couple too.

Wel l - have a good weekend all

Mike V. said...

Well, I meant I shouldn't have seen prometheus years ago because it didn't exist! lol Still really enjoyed the movie! I couldn't believe I hadn't seen Alien/Aliens either. But, when they were released in theaters I was too young to be watching them! Just never got around to them later. Probably would've never even tried to see them if it wasn't for Prometheus. But yeah, Paul Reiser as a bad guy and Bill Paxton as a scared badass. lol Good stuff!

Firefly - Yeah, I knew you didn't watch Mad Men, but I still threw out the reference anyway. Yeah Zoe/Wash relationship is a good time. Very random. lol Morena's character is "Inara"...never would've gotten that right! lol

Have a good weekend to you too!

Leslie said...

Great...I officially feel old today! UGH! :)

At least you know the Beatles music and Billy Joel, of course! lol

Mike V. said...

I grew up listening to Billy Joel and the Beatles! lol Couldn't grow up watching Alien! :-) Well, I could've but probably would've been scarred for life! lol
