Saul - I rewatched the last 2 eps from season 1 to get ready for tonight's premier.

Sleepy - Cray Cray Abby was a good time. Reminded me of Hanks in his stranded movie. I was impressed Abby didn't make a deal with Pandora - so many shows do that. Apparently this ep was mimic Crane night - Abby, Joe and Jenny did it.

Grimm - I'm glad that Nick finally asked the ex-Hexenbeast living in his house for some helpful info. Duh ! LOL And wow - that was some interrogation that Eve did.

XFiles Interesting new couple as I suspected. But, will they take over?? hmmm, curious minds want to know. Finale next week.

Little behind this week already. Watched X-Files, but only halfway through grimm and no Sleepy or Saul yet.

X-Fles - I enjoyed the episode. Mulders "trip" was hysterical and poignant when necessary. I don't really think they are looking to replace Mulder and Scully but the mirrors were definitely intentional. Cool to see Lauren Ambrose still getting work too.

With the ratings as good as they were, I'm sure Duchovny and Anderson will be asked to return for another special series down the road.

MIke, you're WAY behind-lol. Scully pointing out to Mulder that Einstien called Agent Miller, just Miller was an obvious parallal too.

Shameless - god Fiona has become shrewish. LOL She totally should not expect Gus to help her out. Sad what Carl's friend did to the kid who took the bike. So now Deb's going gay? Ugh !

Billions - any one watching ?

LImitless--Lucy was just dysfunctional bad news. Sounds like a good candidate for TV girlfriend material--lol. This show just stays light sometimes and that's good.

Shameless - lol on Deb....well it was funny...we got about 50 minutes into the show and I was thinking that nothing crazy has happened yet that makes the show live up to its name. Then there goes DEB. lol Carl's friend...yeah that was rough. Fiona...totally agree...but I guess that's the point. She doesn't understand the repercussions of her actions which makes her who she is.

So, do we think she actually went through with the abortion? For some reason I kept thinking since they dragged it on this long that she actually wouldn't go through with it. But, I'm not sure what it would buy her to lie about the abortion either. I did think that Deb was going to get in an accident with Carl and his friend and she'd end up losing her baby while Fiona would end up having hers...that would be a twisted outcome for the show...but that didn't happen!

MJ said...

Shameless - yeah I think she did have it. They made a point to talk about the bleeding and her needing another pad. Maybe bleeding too much ? I thought the same about Deb losing the baby too and thought she'd be even more mad at Fiona for aborting hers when Deb lost hers. Refugee pretending to shoot the animals in the book was funny. As for Lip - his storyline has gotten dumb as was the fact the he loved her was dumb.

Mike V. said...

Shameless - That makes sense then that she had it. I forgot about the bleeding talk. Surely, there will be repercussions then like she's eventually going to process what she did and regret it. Refugee stuff is a good time. Oh yeah and Chucky's grandmother showed up which was pretty funny with Frank.

Lip...yeah I guess the storyline is a little rough. I always liked that actress though. Sasha Alexander...ever since the Dawson's Creek days (Yep, watched it during my college years...locked my dorm door and never told anyone what I was atching lol). So I'll let it play out!

Agent Carter - Anyone watching? It's been pretty good. Nothing noteworthy to discuss, but still entertaining.

The 100 - Getting a lot of attention this season especially by EW. It really is an entertaining show. But there's lots of controversy with some storylines this year. I'm fine with the direction as I'm guessing it'll play out fine.

Vikings - comes back tonight right? Yikes...not sure how I'll watch it all....probably will have to slow down my GoT rewatch! lol

Vikings--almost done with rewatch and ready for tonight. It will be interesting in what state of health we find Ragnar.

Did anyone look at that history chart I put up last week?

I don't know about the 100?

NEver watched Carter.

Vikings - If I had to guess, I'd put money on a bit of a time jump to a healthy Ragnar. :) Sorry Richard, I didn't check it out yet but maybe I'll get interested in checking it out when I'm back in the thick of the show. lol

The 100 - It's a CW show which used to mean TEEN ANGST DRAMA. And don't get me wrong, The 100 starts as a bit of that with a bit of LOST's appeal. But, as season 1 goes on and especially season 2 it gets more and more into the mythology of the show and really interesting and edgy stories. Basically, it's set in a post apocalyptic EARTH where a band of humans launched into space and have lived on a space station for several generations. They send 100 teens (who are mostly fugitives) back down to Earth to determine if the world is livable again. Henry Ian Cusick is in the show (Desmond) as well as some other known faces and a bunch of unknown teens who become the stars that carry the show.

First 2 seasons are on Netflix and 3rd season is airing now. I've been reporting about my binge watching of it recently and now am watching live with the show.

Someone a couple years back was singing the show's praises on this blog (they don't really visit anymore) so I had it on my To Do list. Finally got to it and am glad I did!

Vikings - I think I must have missed the link Richard. I will have to go back and look for it. I probably have the finale on my DVR but have not yest watched it.

Carter - has been fun - though stupid that they let the Russian spy out to 'help' them.

Flash - also been fun. Jay garrick is suddenly very suspect. What if it's not him (the guy on earth 1) - what if Jay Garrick is the guy in the prison with the mask on ?

Not even going to look at Vinyl ! too much stuff

Mike V. said...

Carter - Yeah...a very common trope on these shows! Common foes unite other foes. We all knew she was going to escape at the end!

Vinyl - agreed. No time for it and I'm hearing it's basically a relic of the male anti-hero era...so something we've already seen a few times. lol I'm sure eventually it could morph into something good but then there's HBO GO to catch up!

MJ said...

Ugh - forgot Orphan Black will be coming back too.
https://www.yahoo.com/tv/orphan-black-season-4-premiere-date-trailer-revealed-170805656.html

And Bates will be back soon. Along with a new show Damien - the kid from the Omen all grown up. LOL

Gotham - unless it's really gotten good think I am dumping this one. We shall see.

Vinyl--I watched the pilot. Not bad. But seriously, there's almost no drama, comedy, scifi, etc genre that hasn't been done many many times. It's always in the execution to me and that includes compelling actors and plots (vs like a lot of the new ones in SW-LOL). Anyway, it brings in some history and has a lot more in common with Mad Men(some would say also a relic of the male anti-hero era).

PS, of course I make the above comment without having ready any reviews. Honestly, I just don't have time to read reviews right now.

Blacklist--great ep. I think we're finding out a lot more about the Rostova's and Liz's background. Building up to some big reveal.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Yikes...too much stuff!!! (OB, Bates, etc...)

Vinyl - You're absolutely right Richard on everything's been done. I did hear it's very comparable to Mad Men. But if that's the vibe you're going for, then you gotta bring your A game! lol

That's funny...I read/listen to reviews (podcasts) because I don't have time to Watch every show in creation. lol I know it's people's opinions and I may have a different one but there's just too much to sift through. So if the buzz starts growing in it maybe I'll catch up later.

Vikings - So I was wrong on the time jump...good ep. Looks like you might be right on the whole William the Conqueror thing. lol

Vikings--did you notice Bjorn's map? It's key to his future. Also, his going out into the wilderness results in him becoming admired. I'm kind of surprised Ivar is in a wagon. And very surprised Rollo killed so many Vikings. Loved the lines between Bjorn and Ragnar about Rollo. So, Kalf is in charge now. Makes sense but what Lagertha did really was awful. I wonder how long Lagertha and Kalf will be a happy couple.

They're making Auslaug like a powerhunger queen now. So different from previous seasons that it doesn't really fit.

Vinyl--well they make the 70s look grittier than the 60s and I don't like that look in general. But the music business is a tough and often criminal type business. I've got a relative who does a lot of contracts for some big name artists. It is an ugly business on many levels. The artists so often get left with so little. And now it's just so tough to make any serious money in the business.

Xfiles - WTH ! LOL That was just awesomely goofy. Mulder on the shrooms was hysterical though supposedly they were placebos so it really made no sense that he tripped at all. This is the Xfiles I like - I'm over the whole alien thing (especially now that they have turned the thing upside down and now say alot of it were humans fooling people into thinking it was aliens) and over the sudden pangs of guilt for the kid they gave up.

Saul - was surprised at first that he did not take that corporate job just to say screw you to his brother, then was surprised in the end that he did. Love how he and Kim conned that financial guy into a several thousand dollar bar bill, and was pleasantly surprised she went along with it. I alreadys ee where Jimmy/Saul's story is going - he keeps doing lawyering for all the wrong reasons. First to please his brother and now to please Kim. That guy with the Hummer is such an idiot. LOL

Vikings - Ahh right...I guess I already blocked out what Lagertha did. lol My favorite was when she tossed it aside and you just heard it hitting the ground off camera. Seemed like a radical shift for Rollo so quickly. It's not out of character for him to move against Ragnar, but when we last saw him he was fine. Unless he wants to prove himself to his new wife and family. I didn't notice Bjorn's map in great detail no...but I'll pay attention if they show it again. Auslaug's new ambitions was a little out of left field, I agree.

Vinyl - Yeah...digitization of music kind of screwed everyone...but that's why concerts cost so much these days. But, I've heard the artist doesn't even see a lot of that money either. But somehow the big stars are still making their money one way or another.

X-Files - It was a funny episode...you may have missed a line MJ on the placebo. She lied to Skinner about the placebo to cover her ###....she actually gave him the drug that he needed. I think the 6th episode will tie back into the 1st episode to close up this mini-season. But yeah...X-Files was at its best in these one-off episodes. Which is nice that they returned to it for this.

Saul - ugh...still haven't watched. Not sure when I'll get to it. Don't think my wife is too interested in staying up on it so I may have to add it into my morning rituals...and there's not a lot of room!

GoT - Not that we want to dive back into this debate again...but Bryan Cogman defended the Sansa scene on the DVD Commentary. Just thought I'd share:

Vikings--yea the 'junk" hitting the ground was pretty graphic.

Colony--Good background on the local gov head. The storyline with Kate not being found out by Sawyer is getting to be unbelievable and too long in the tooth. But glad they are offsetting with opening up the story and exposing those that Kate have been working with as false resistance fighters.

Richard

Colony--I'm beginning to wonder if the old man and black guy whom Kate has been helping are working for some people higher up. To cause a need for significant change.
