TV Discussion: December 2014 - January 2015

Hello fellow TV Addicts!  As always, this is our place to discuss all non-recapped shows.  Due to all of the mid-season hiatuses, this should hold us over to later in January or early February, but we'll play it by ear.

Happy Holidays and see you in the comments!

Grimm--Yea, Nick is back. I was thinking that Juliette might be stuck as Adalaind and with a baby of some type. Almost said she turned back to Juliette, LOL. I seriously thought that leave it to a woman(please don't hate me for this) to ask how it was? Thankfully Nick saw that there's NO way to win answer that question. At least it was funny.

I was thinking at the end that Trubl might be worried that they'll cut her loose now. But intro to another arc with the guy.

Capt's Mom--we'll see her again.

Grimm - Did you watch the previews for next week? lol They certainly hinted at one of the things you said. LOL on the "how it was"..... And yes Nick is back and with super hearing? lol

Yeah, agreed on Trubel...but I'm sure the minute she feels worthless, Nick's mom will come back with news of his "sister". I'm convinced that's where this is going.

In other news, How heavily handed was the "let's give Hank a girlfriend" plot? lol

ONCE - I watched, but I'll spare people from reading my thoughts since I think I'm the only one watching!

STAR WARS: The Force Awakens - Surely, everyone has seen the teaser trailer, right? I have many times, and my son as well. I think I might be able to brainwash him into seeing it by next December! :-) Most notably for all JJ haters -> No Lens Flare in the trailer. lol He's already apologized about his obsession. But you can certainly see his flare for directing in the 88 seconds that we did see. Lots of speculation just on the shots we saw, but it was plenty of a tease to get me excited! And the MEMEs that came out of it are hysterical!

Grimm--haven't seen preview yet.

Yea, I was wondering if it was so obvious or was I the only one seeing this about the girlfriend sheriff. So, you've confirmed it was just so obvious and yet not much really happened, mostly just looks. I wonder if the sheriff knows though--lol. She seemed to be all business.

Trubl, that's likely a good call on Nick's sister.

Seriously, you have to admit having TWO Adalainds would have been great though.

Star Wars--haven't seen trailer yet. My kids went to see the Hunger Games movie and the trailer wasn't there either. I'm going to google it now.

Star Wars--OK, just saw it.
1. Looks like we have Tatoine back in play. Luke's daughter maybe?? Maybe Leia's daughter?? She's likely going to be the hero in this one.
2.I recognized the water planet I thought. It could have been the one with Chewy or in SW1, not sure??
3. Great to see the Millenium Falcon back. This is what makes me think the girl might be Leia's daughter as she's likely the one flying it.

lol, I know waaaay too much speculation! But in a whole year from now if I'm right, please don't forget. Otherwise, just totally forget I said the above.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Grimm - Nick's "sister" - yeah we've been speculating about it since she showed up and never left! lol

SW - Trailer was only at select theaters in front of EVERY movie. For instance, in the Philly area it was only at 1 theater and not in Philly. lol But it was online since 10:15am on Friday! :-) I saw it at 10:16

Yep Tattooine is back in play. I think that had been confirmed pre-trailer as did the Falcon being in it (due to leaked picrures and Harrison Ford breaking his leg on the MF door. lol) Strongest rumor is that Daisy Ridley (the girl) is playing Han and Leia's daughter and she most likely is one of the protagonists. As is John Boyega (dude in the storm trooper outfit).

Water planet, not sure....Are you thinking of Kashyyyk from Episode III? (i.e. wookie homeworld) I have no idea.

I gotta think Han will still be flying the Falcon at least in Episode VII! lol It certainly was interesting that they didn't show any of the old cast in the trailer. But John Williams certainly scored the trailer and it was such a rush when the Falcon showed up!

You think YOU speculated a lot? You should see the internet! lol people think they know who the SITH dude is (i.e. some guy from a video game only XBOX owners played lol but apparently it was such a compelling story and he made Vader look like a wuss) Also, the lightsaber sound at the end of the trailer is Luke's from Episode IV. So, if you analyze that and think about it being 30 years later, one would know that he lost that saber when Vader chopped off his hand in Empire Strikes Back...so what exactly does THAT mean!? I've read rumors before the trailer, but I don't want to mix in rumors with fact or spoil the unspoiled when I'm trying to be as spoiler free as possible too! lol

But yeah, you were just scratching the surface! :-)

Grimm - LOL on the 'leave it to a woman' and Nick being smart enough to know no correct answer. So is she preggers and if so is it Adalinds dna ?? Is Juliette carrying Nick and Adalinds baby ? Yikes. Was touching to see Trubel so glad Nick was back. Def obvious witht he sherriff thing.

Star Wars trailer - have yet to see it Been doing my extended LOTR marathon - wachthird movie tonight.

Scorpion - think this is on 10pm tonight rather than 8pm

House of Cards Premiere Date announced - 2/27/2015

Anonymous said...

MJ, yea you're heading where I was. That it's Adalind's and Nick's baby. That's why I thought she would stay as Adalaind for a lot longer. But with her being Juliette carrying an Adalaind baby is even more weird than I could have dreamt--LOL. The thing that made me think that was the pain that Adalaind had with her pregnancy.

As I'm writing this I bet she develops some issues and they seek out mama Grimm and/or Capt's mom.

Star wars--yea that was one of the ones I was wondering about--planets. But the one where jarjar binks was in the water too. The only thing is that it looked a lot more mountainous than EP I.

Richard

Mike V. said...

SW -

Yes the planet where Padme (and...ugh Jar Jar) are from is Naboo. That's a good point that it could be there. There are plenty of other planets in the galaxy too. Guess we'll see!

I read a general star wars complaint over the weekend that wondered why no planet in Star Wars could have multiple terrains. Like Dagobah is a swamp, Hoth is the ICE planet, Tattooine is desert, Coruscant is an entire city, etc... I guess it makes them pretty identifiable but it is comical if you think about it. lol Maybe JJ is showing another side of a planet we already know.

Grimm - That is one twisted plot if that's where it all goes! Seems fitting for this show.

Mike V. said...

Sleepy - Well I got spoiled by EW.com. I wasn't even thinking about it when I went to the site, but a headline and a picture pretty much implied what happened.

SHOCKING DEATH! and a picture of Crane and Frank. I seriously doubted they killed off Crane!

Granted, his soul was still claimed, and Henry turned on Moloch in the final moments. I wonder if Henry "unclaims" Frank's soul if it'll bring him back. This show has done stranger things. I guess it'll depend on if we see interviews with Orlando Jones's character. lol

So they had built up the whole "there is good in him, I feel it" type stuff all season so it wasn't TOO shocking that Henry made the last minute turn...especially with being berated by Moloch.

Am I the only one hoping that Crane and Katrina don't make up? lol

Episode was a good time though! The whole part where all of them volunteered to take up that sword until Moloch was defeated was filled with lots of emotional inspiration!

BLACK MIRROR - Not sure if anyone has heard of this one but apparently it's REALLY REALLY good. It's a UK show that has had 2 3 episode seasons. Each episode is a unique story with a spin on different views of the future or something. Anyway, I've heard nothing but good things about it for months and it's finally available on Netflix! I added it to my queue but don't know when I'll get to it. Figured I'd do my due diligence and pass on the word.

TOY STORY THAT TIME FORGOT: That's what I'll be doing at 8pm tonight! We're hoping it will reignite my son's love for Woody and Buzz right before we go stay in the All Star Movies Resort Toy Story Building in Disney! lol There hasn't been a bad Toy Story movie or short yet, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm even ecstatic for Toy Story 4 even if the trilogy was perfect! lol

Mike V. said...

Sleepy - Forgot to say the whole motorcycle bit was great and how he wanted one after the ride. lol

MJ said...

Sleepy - First TWD kills Beth and now Sleepy kills Capt Irving ! Always wondered how they were going to fix his story - how he'd explain it all to his wife and daughter - now I know they won't. EP hinted that Irving would be back though. Seriously - you create a weapon to kill demons but then it takes your own soul? How harsh is that !?! And Abby seemed to go down pretty quick in the big fight. I had a feeling Henry would feel a pull of humanity early in the ep when Henry kept talking to Molock on a personal son/father level and Molock was nothing but cold. Katrina and Ichabod sure seem to be getting further from eachother though. LOL on Ichabod loving that motorcycle.

MJ said...

Black Mirror - Just heard about it today.

SW - what's with the controversy with the new black storm trooper ? In this day and age are poeple seriously making this a thing ? Or are they picking at the fact that storm troopers are clones of Bobba Fet ?

Mike V. said...

SW - As far as i can tell no fans made a big deal out of it and it was the media, in particular CNN that turned it into an issue just for a headline. Of course, that's the fans' spin on the whole thing. Granted, one of my favorite memes to come out of the trailer was putting an infamous line from Spaceballs (a response to "comb the desert") on a screenshot of John Boyega in the storm trooper outfit. lol

Sleepy - I'm still shocked how much the hardcore fans are revolting against this season. I have not noticed any degredation in quality and people are just annoyed at how things are going down. You should read some of the most liked comments on that EW interview with the EP. I just don't see it. Then again, I'm just a casual viewer of the show. I do agree that Katrina isn't the best character on the show, hence why I wouldn't mind if she and Crane stay far apart from each other. lol

mj said...

Sleepy - i agree, don't know where the haters coming from. They have explained many timesthat Katrina does not have her full powers but fans bitch that she's not so powerful. Have also read fans feel Abby was pushed to the side - what show ar they watching? It was a little repetitive though but hardly as bad as the fans are saying

Mike V. said...

Sleepy - I can understand repetitive. That should change now that Moloch is out of the picture and according to the showrunner. I did not get the impression Abby was pushed to the side at all. There was one episode where you could tell it was awkward for the 3 of them working together. But that was intentional! lol

Forgot to discuss the better call Saul footage that aired during twd. I'm sure it'll be a decent show but that footage wasn't anything to write home about! Lol

MJ said...

BCS - forgot to look for it while fast forwarding. I'm going to check it out but do not have any high hopes for it. Don't think he was a good enough character to have an entire show personally.

Americans - they had a really good trailer during SOA last night.

SOA - Don't know if you watched. I def welled up a few times and was taken by surprise one time. But with each passing week I am just more sad for Jax and what he has become. I mean - they are all thugs but he had ideals and a plan to get out and be different. SIGH. Won't say more til I know you watched.

Mike V. said...

Soa - definitely watched and will comment a little later. Crazy - everyone that I assumed would die this season died in one episode!

Anonymous said...

SW, I don't have a problem with a black storm trooper. But, he can't be a clone like the canon has them identified through 40 years of SW. I can see the fans being upset. I'm not upset but if he's just some random black storm trooper from the line of storm troopers, then credibility takes a big hit. I mean several have looked at the animated stories as canon for example.

It deserves explanation. Otherwise SW canon becomes like that of the comic books. Of course that's not beyond Disney just to randomly insert something.

I suspect he's not a clone storm trooper, but maybe a volunteer of some type or maybe a spy(this may be crazy since maybe he's already been identified as a storm trooper).

Richard

Mike V. said...

SW - Canon most certainly does not have them has clones through 40 years of Star Wars. Jango Fett was cloned for the Clone Troopers. Eventually when the Empire took over the clone army, they eventually recruited regular people to be storm troopers.

Future Star Wars Canon has been clearly communicated for future films. All films and The Clone Wars TV series are the ultimate Star Wars canon. Expanded Universe is classified as LEGENDS and not film canon. Star Wars Rebels already had an episode where young non-clone recruits were training to become storm troopers. If George had intended Storm Troopers to be clones he would've changed their voice to Termura Morrison (Jango Fett) just like he changed Boba Fett's in subsequent DVD/Blu-ray releases of the original trilogy.

Also...we must not forget that both Luke Skywalker and Han Solo sported storm trooper outfits in Episode IV.

Whatever he is, he's most likely one of the main characters as is Daisy Ridley.

Soa - so the first hour was just putting the pieces in place. Those convoluted deals - they always confuse me. LOL I think this one will implode though. Jax has somehow always managed these brilliant plans but I think not this time. Already Tyler has them gunning down the chinese all over town. Poor Juice. I'm glad he's out of his misery though. Gemma really does believe in the life they live - telling her son he has to kill her because it's their way. But shooting Unser - man I was caught a little off guard by that. I did not see it coming in that moment some how. You think Jax will take his Mayhem - or will he get out of it somehow ? I think he will take it. But why was jax limping for most of the show ? What was up with that ?

Mike V. said...

SOA - Agreed on the deals. I never understand them and it doesn't matter. lol Though I did understand the Mayhem vote and that Jax seems to willingly be ready to end his life for the good of the club. I read a rumor that the by-law that might be up for removal might be the involvement of people's direct descendants in the club...i.e. Jax's kids could get an exemption. As for Jax actually dying??? seems too predictable at this point so maybe something will change. Granted, I thought Gemma and Juice would die this season so it certainly felt like those were coming in this episode when they happened. I agree about Unser...the only thing that made me think he might get shot in that scene was that it was the penultimate episode. Crazy....Gemma's non-reaction was nuts too. But at that point she was so far gone into acceptance that nothing else mattered.

Nice Chiklis cameo too since he was a member of THE SHIELD family. Saved the main guy for last! lol

Yeah...the gunning down of the chinese certainly didn't seem like part of Jax's plan unless I missed it!

The JAX limp thing...I don't get it. That seemed out of nowhere. Maybe it'll pay off in the finale.

And of course, Gemma never came clean on being involved in JT's murder. Not sure if that'll even matter now in the finale. But, Jax still has a chance to prevent his family from continuing on this never ending cycle.

I can't believe I'm going to be in Disney for the series finale!!! lol

From MIke above:

"SW - Canon most certainly does not have them has clones through 40 years of Star Wars. Jango Fett was cloned for the Clone Troopers. Eventually when the Empire took over the clone army, they eventually recruited regular people to be storm troopers".

That's what I'm saying, that he can't be a clone trooper. If they try to pass him off as one, then there's a problem.

That's why I said:
"I suspect he's not a clone storm trooper, but maybe a volunteer of some type or maybe a spy(this may be crazy since maybe he's already been identified as a storm trooper)."

Shield--why can't there be a guy who's all BA on that show? I was thinking that Skye was brought in as a computer geek and now she's all BA. Why couldn't that happen for Fitz, who's now a shell of himself. All of the guys are second class agents or have big problems. I skimmed through the last ep and thought when the Harry Potter line was spoken at least it has some comedy.

Richard

MJ said...

SOA - Felt so strange that both Unser and Nero left their keys to Gemma's house. Unser because he felt his ties to the Club were now broken by Jax lying about the tape and Nero cause he's going to the farm and knows Gemma will be dead or in jail. And Chuck - asking Unser to tell Gemma he loves her. Quite the guest stars on the ep - had no idea Michael Chiklis would be on (second visitor from The Shield), but knew Charisma Carpenter was guesting. Totally forgot Hal Holbrook played Gemma's dad. Oh - and the Samcro meeting - that guy from Terminator 2 was there ! LOL . Jax really could have tried to still claim self defense with Jury but he didnt't even bother to try. Glad the boys were going to the farm - and agree with EW that when Jax said 'hope they do' he was already acting like he would not be there in future. It was a little amusing to see his always white sneakers now spattered in blood. Very true - we never got the closure on JT's death. Didn't think about the inclusion of relatioves - thought it was the unwritten rule against allowing in blacks since he wants the Grim Reapers to patch in. De think that limp has some bearing to be seen.

Shield - I'm not happy that Mac is either dead or totally screwed up now. I liked him.

SW - i was told by someone else also that the storm troopers are no longer the clones of Fett. So that makes it really disappointing that people are upset a black actor is one. Plus - we've seen people in storm trooper outfits that weren't storm troopers (Luke and Han) so just cause he's in the uniform does not mean anything

MJ said...

Shield - I think Ward and Hunter are pretty BA personally. Double May was creepy. Patton Oswold was hysterical.

Mike V. said...

SW - What it sounded like you were initially saying was that storm troopers were clones and I'm confirming that is not the case! I got that from this "But, he can't be a clone like the canon has them identified through 40 years of SW. I can see the fans being upset."

Starting with episode IV (and now even Rebels in the timeline earlier), it could be anyone in those suits. The interesting thing about all of this is that we thought the empire was defeated 30 years earlier. Sure...just because the head of the snake was chopped off...there would be remnants...and the expanded universe certainly had one version of what could've happened. But, this seems to suggest that the empire is still around...granted...storm troopers could be good guys now...no telling until we see more!

MJ, i mentioned the same thing above and again in this post. lol They most certainly are no longer clones. Also made the Luke/Han comment! lol I really don't think people were disappointed. The internet tends to magnify things to a bigger deal than they should be.

SHIELD - still only a half hour in...

SOA - Robert Patrick sure has been in a lot of stuff lately! I'm surprised you said Terminator 2 and not Scorpions! lol But yeah lots of guest stars.

that was my thought on the unwritten rule thing and the by-laws. I never considered the family thing. Though it would seem like a weird final request of JAX's to be over the race thing. Unless he wanted to form one big super group club of brown, yellow, black and white. lol Agree on the limp. They wouldn't have put it in there for no reason.

Yeah i did notice that the show opened on his very clean white sneakers and closed on his bloody sneaks....of course, the minute he walked in the door i had a feeling this would be him finally going back to Wendy for "comfort". lol

Shield, so if you were to rank the BAness of the characters, it would go like this.
May
Bobbi(not sure she isn't better than May?)
Skye--she had a tough fight with same girl that May did a few eps back, but won.

Then big drop off to everyone else. Including Mac, whom I liked as well. I thought Mac could take Hunter.
Hunter's fighting skills aren't showcased as are the above three. Hunter's character seems to be in place to give Bobbi more storylines.

Ward is a psycho nut job who May beat last season.

Just so you guys know, most of the reason I watch this crazy show is the fun I have with commenting here-lol.

Richard

Mike V. said...

SHIELD - BA characters...well there's still Ward, but he's on a separate arc for at least this season.

It's a good question on May vs. Bobbi....I agree that I think Bobbi could take her. I wonder how long they're going to keep Fitz the way he is. Surely that's not a permanent condition. I mean..in real life it probably would be but this is a fictional TV show that takes place in a cinematic universe with Superheroes and alien technology! lol

Mack/Mac - Yeah I got the feeling we may see him back to his old self eventually. Obviously, we didn't see him die...just saw him fall and heard him hit the ground. But, we also saw he had some pretty ridiculous alien super powers too...so that may cushion the fall. And they might be able to go down and somehow fix him.

Watching show for discussion - Yeah, it's probably why I do it too. lol Obviously, I fell behind last season but it really did morph into an entertaining show. Not Emmy caliber, but still fun.

AHS - 40 minutes in (i just can't get through a full episode these days! lol)....and of course I had a tweet that came in with a certain actor/acress's name attached right after the episode ended. So I figured, "that person probably died"....and yep..they did. lol

Mike V. said...

LEGENDS - Just saw the show got renewed for season2 . Wow...I didn't realize it wasn't until now!

Anonymous said...

Legends--me neither, thought it was a done deal.

Longmire--I"m going to have to bootleg this one.

Helix--been watching a few reruns, starts in Jan.

Flash, been watching it some for just fun. Had a special with Arrow that was ok. Glad to see those two from Arrow getting back together. And some humbling of Flash was good to see. It will get interesting if the Doctor in the wheel char(who doesn't need one) gets found out.

mj said...

Robert Patrick - lol on not saying Scorpions. Don't know why i didn't

Sw - I mustadmit I only skimmed you guys's SW posts. too much for me

Shield - May could take Bobbi! Lol

Behind on Ahs and Flash

Helix - back in Jan? Crap. I can't keep up. I liked it but didn't love it so I will prob fall behind on this

Legends - yay. and they didn't kill Sean Bean!

Librarian - any one going to watch?

Anonymous said...

Librarian--not sure, when and what outlet?

Vikings--not back until summer, usually out several months earlier--bumber.

MJ, lol on SW. It and Star Trek have such crazy fans, I'm not one btw. I like them a lot and over the years have learned a lot about the mythology but with all the offshoots, I've quit keeping up.

Richard

Anonymous said...

Scorpions--I didn't think it was on this week. DVR didn't record it.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Sw - I don't think it's any secret that I'm one of those crazed fans! Lol granted there are fans much worse and more obsessive than me but I do love the saga!

Anonymous said...

OK, so this should be fun somewhat. Define the characteristics of a crazed SW fan, in no particular order.
1. Stand in line all day to watch the opening show.
2. Own something tangible related to a star wars movie, like a replica light saber or shirt--think Big Bang Theory--lol.
3. Know the names of all the secondary characters, like jar jar.
4. Understand that the 2000s movies were actually time lined before the 70s movies. This gets my wife every time. For her the first movie will always be the 70s release of Star Wars. She understands the last 3 released were time lined before(prequel), but to her they should be 4,5,6 not 1,2,3. There are many that really don't care enough to get this though, at least my wife knows they are prequels while some of her friends don't even care to know--lol.
5. Have downloaded and studied the star wars maps.
6. Greets/leaves your friends with the phrase "may the force be with you".
7.Understand that Star Wars and Star Trek are actually different franchises/shows. You would be surprised how many don't know this, again think BBT and Penny.
8.Have read the events about Star Wars at comiccon
9. Have attended Comic Con dressed in Star Wars gear.
10.Understand that the 6 movies released so far were about the Skywalker family with Annakin's fall and redemption to bring balance back to the good side(probably a more correct term I forgot--lol) of the force.

So, of the above, I'm "guilty" of 4,5,7 and 10.

MIke, you could probably make a much better list.

Richard

Mike V. said...

lol...so yeah this is where I can classify myself as a big fan but not a SW Nerd! lol

1. 1983 - We certainly stood in line and waited until we could get into see ROTJ. I was 4 or 5 though and scared of Darth Vader so I slept through most of the movie. My brother and his friend did camp out for Phantom Menace tickets though. I took the lunch shift so they could go eat. lol All online sales after that thank god!
2. Plenty of star wars shirts and paraphernalia, no replica lightsaber. Shirts mainly worn around the house and not in public.
3. I really don't consider Jar Jar a secondary character unfortunately. Everyone knows Jar Jar as he is the focal point of all hatred towards the prequels, mainly Phantom Menace. But, I could tell you the character names of some of those crazy things in the Cantina because of the action figures. So, I'm pretty good in this category, but bigger nerds would have me beat!
4. Surely most people understand that one! But I would understand people who aren't really into the story getting confused! lol
5. No...but when I was in grade school my brother and his friends would play the Star Wars Role Playing Game (i.e. Dungeons and Dragons but in the star wars universe). I didn't realize until I was in high school how not cool this was! lol
6. I'm sure I've done it! But not frequently!
7. Oh I believe it and have experienced it first hand! JJ directing the new films for both just confuses the issue more. lol
8. Believe it or not, my comic-con attention is usually on the TV shows I obsess about. I clearly obsessed over LOST's panels since I recapped them on the blog! lol
9. Ugh...not yet but I want to! But I probably wouldn't dress up. I just want to go to comic-con!
10. People don't understand that?? lol Granted...it probably wasn't George's original conceit but it evolved as he told more of the story.

I'm sure I could make a worthy rival list, and if I have time later I'll consider it! Unfortunately, I'm wrapping up any work I gotta get done before the big Disney Trip next week! Hope you guys don't miss me too much. lol

Whenever I watch SOA...i'll certainly chime in with my very brief thoughts. But I just don't know when it'll be!

Mike V. said...

Black mirror - I started this this morning. First episode about the Prime Minister was awesome! The whole concept of this show I think is to present plausible scenarios due to technology available or technology that could plausibly be available soon. I started the 2nd ep which is interesting too. I've heard nothing but good things about all 6 episodes...and apparently there is a Jon Hamm Christmas special episode airing soon...of course we won't get that on netflix for awhile. lol

Anonymous said...

Black mirror, when where what?

SW, 10 on Annakin. I saw an interview of Lucas on a BD extras disk I have where he had the line layouts of Anakin BEFORE he did the 70's Star Wars. He had it all laid out before he started, the entire story covering all 6 movies--at least on the major themes/endings.

One of his big considerations was where to introduce the story first to the public. He wrestled with starting at the beginning with a young Anakin.

He even said, the whole story is really about Anakin and was a little unhappy(my words) that the first three may have caused that to be lost. But, introducing vader as a totally bad guy was helping to build the mythology/interest.

Richard

Mike V. said...

I've watched all of those specials too but there is no justifying something like Luke kissing Leia in empire if he knew they'd be brother/sister in Jedi. Things had to evolve. Sure he had a vision and maybe vader was part of that but he also talked about a 12 episode saga in the 70s then swore a decade ago that there was really only a vision for 6 (because he didn't want to do the sequels). Lots of conflicting quotes from Lucas. He also told Carlton and Damon in some final lost season roast that he made things up as he went along too. It's all about convincing people there's a vision which keeps them along for the ride.

im typing on my phone so this might not be as articulated as I want it to be. lol

Librarian - tnt this sunday. Orig was several tnt movies - starred Noah Wylie (ER, Fallen Skies) and is now a limited series. Kinda Indiana Jones on tv budget. Think the movies are airing this weekend bef the new show

Black Mirror - its on Netflix Richard. Glad to hear living up to hype. Lord knows when i will get to them

Mike - when you leaving for disney?

Mike V. said...

Black Mirror - Sorry Richard, I didn't even see you ask. Look to some above posts, I explained it a little more, but yeah it's on netflix. UK show. Each episode is a different story but all involving technology. Good stuff.

Disney - We leave early Monday morning! Come back saturday.

Have a great time. I go the following monday. Been watching their weather - last night was 41 here and 71 there.:-)

LOL,LOL on Luke /Leia kiss. Seriously, that's all you got-lol? I know, you probably have more. But,they didn't know who or what they were at the time.

Well, the paperwork was dated with Vader. The film was from the 70s. I don't think he'd backdate the paperwork just to make up a lie. If he did, then that's just despicable.

I don't think you're saying that the whole SW saga for Skywalker family/Anakin was just made up after VI came out, are you?

Librarian I saw the movies, not bad.

Have fun Mike, not a bad time to go.

Good thing you are away Mike. SOA ending got leaked and Sutter is VERY MAD. Apparently there is a companion book and no one was supposed to ship it until the 10th and some got shipped. So those who got the books put the ending all over the web. I am being very careful.

Grimm - I just love Monroe's love of christmas and his decorations. And that the wesen loved fruit cake. Too funny.

Anonymous said...

Librarin, I didn't want to like this show. But Romjin is in it and so some Xmen connection. It was pretty good.
But without Flynn/Noah it's a whole different not as good show.
I'm glad they kept some comedy in it with Laroquette. The Curtin and Newhart comedy background actors were great and so I'm happy they didn't change the whole make up of the feel of the show.

Richard

Anonymous said...

Grimm--loved the fruitcake stuff. So Trubl is gone, at least for now. And we're going to have a Mom war--lol. Yea, I think Monroe had the trains last Christmas and it was too much for Juliette then.

BTW, we have Christmas trains in our house!

Richard

mj said...

Grimm - lol on xmas trains

Librarian - it now almost has a Scorpions vibe with a group who each have their own talents as opposed to the Indiana Jones vibe

MJ said...

Shield - I can't believe they killed Trip ! Nooooo! And they killed Whitehall ! What? Did not see that coming. Maybe he'll be on the new show coming on in Shields place. Loved that Skye shot Ward - and not surprised he is fine. Was it just me or was her dad really shiney/sweaty ? And what is the fascination with the song Bicycle Built for Two ? So I read that Skye (Daisy) and Rayna are Inhumans - I have no idea what that is but its from the comics apparently. But did any one notice that Rayna had weird black things sticking out from her face when the 'crust' fell off but Skye did not ?

SOA - not going to say much since Mike is the only one who watches besides me. But it was a great ending to a great series. A little surprising but great.

Mike V. said...

Just checking in. Trip has been awesome! I've been reading stuff here and there. We downloaded soa from TiVo to iPad this morning. Took like 3 hours lol so we'll watch tonight if kids go to sleep. Have 2 sets of earbuds and a headphone splitter lol have shield for plane trip home :)

Mike V. said...

Soa - watched! Nice episode setting jax's affairs in order. I figured he was not gonna make it by the way he just recklessly killed anyone who presented a problem to him. Love that it acknowledged the jt connection since the beginning and hat he pretty much went out the same way he did (on his bike no less). And nice nod to the shield by chikless being the one to do it.

Gotta go but I enjoyed it! Obviously last weeks ep was the better one but that's usually the case! Lol

Anonymous said...

Shield--Well someone's got to die, why not whitehall. I'm still wondering though they always need a bad guy. Of course with their new powers we could end up with a new villainess in Rayna vs super power Skye--LOL.

Flash--So what's up with the reverse flash and Dr. Wells? I thought he was reverse flash.

Arrow, is he really dead?

Richard

MJ said...

SOA - I'll be on vaca next week when you are back. So don't read this Mike until you have watched

It broke my heart that he doesn't want his kids to think well of him - and when he burned all his letters and his dads journals. We all wondered if he'd kill himself where his dad died so I was surprised when he did not and instead had suicide by semi. Not sure I liked that - but they were able to surpise us in the ending. Really shocked Barosky didn't even get a word in before he was blown away - and the same for Marks. I wasn't quite sure how he's get out of Mayhem - but that was a clever way to do that. The good byes got to me - to his kids and to Chibs. Jax saying 'I got this' like Opie did. Weird with the homeless lady. I know we'd seen her over all the seasons but I don't remember her ever talking to them. And why would she say it's time and give him her blanket ? If I remember right Jax gave her that blanket several seasons ago. I did not remember this but read that Jax had pretended to be homeless in the pilot as well. Reading that alot of people did not like the ending - the usual idiots in the comments. LOL They thought Sutter was going for some sort of Christ symbology when Jax put his arms out at the end - but I don't think so. To me he had decided his fate - saw the truck - and said this is perfect. He'd got to be an outlaw one last time by leading the cops on a chase and was ready to go.

Mike V. said...

Thanks! I saw too. :)

Mike V. said...

I'm back! Disney was awesome, kids loved it! Have a great time MJ! I actually posted about SOA an hour or so before you posted your thoughts so I had seen it. lol But I'll respond to your comments as well.

SHIELD - Watched this morning. Good mid-season finale. RIP Tripp...I had a feeling he was doomed when he volunteered to go back in. Whitehall...yeah that didn't surprise me too much, but good point that he might be in Agent Carter...it's a 7 episode limited series but I'm sure that would make sense if he's in it too. It'll be interesting to see what exactly happened to Skye/Raina.....and yes of course Ward didn't die! I didn't expect that either, but the shooting without hesitation was a good time. lol

Homeland - Watched last week's, still need to watch last night's

SOA - It really was a good episode to tie up loose ends. And yes, him acknowledging he's not a good person was a great moment. All of the goodbyes were pretty intense. I don't know if I bought Nero's semi-tame reaction to Gemma being killed. I'm sure he expected it but still being civil to JAX seemed convenient because it was the series finale. lol I didn't even make the Opie connection with "I Got This"...good catch. I recall the homeless lady thing too...but didn't really make the connection. I'm sure that's google-able. I don't think she ever did talk to them. I wonder if that's some symbolic reference to Hamlet or something. I thought the ending was great....it was mirroring to how JT died and after processing it it seemed like really the only way it could've happened...the nod to Sutter's former show with CHIKLIS (sp) hitting him was just icing on the cake.

As for sudden deaths of Marks and Barosky...I liked it...it was a "i don't care about the consequences because I'm a man on borrowed time" type behavior....there was no need for discussions...just get rid of them and move on to the goodbyes of people he cares about. Cutting ties with the IRISH (by killing the kings)..fulfilling his dad's wish was a nice touch too. As for Peter Weller only being brought on for a scene where he gets killed (not that you suggested that), it looks like he spent a lot of this season behind the camera. I saw his name come up as director a few times.

Star Wars - Interesting character names..but my initial response to that was, "I'm sure Han Solo, Greedo, Boba Fett, Jabba the Hutt" weren't household names when they were first announced either. lol Kylo Ren certainly doesn't sound as menacing as Darth Vader.....but if he ends up being a badass he'll make a name for himself.

Leslie said...

Mike - glad you all had a great time at Disney!

Gracepoint - I think MJ is the only one who watched the British version of this like I did. I have been watching our version, and the story was the same up until the end which I finally got to this weekend. The killer was different and the circumstances were much more interesting, and I think this new ending was much better than in the British version.

Anonymous said...

Librarians--still forming a team. Thought the bull's eyes were fakey, but not a bad ep. And I recognize that bad girl ceo from somewhere?

Ascension--anybody watching? Crazy ending for first part. I'm convinced something's on that video of the fire that shows a big secret. Like a secret that they are still on Earth. So, am I the only one thinking the son killed Lorilei?

Richard

Mike V. said...

Grimm - I had to leave the house with like 5 minutes to go but it's safe to say Wu is in the know now. lol Will try to find 5 minutes today to watch on my phone. :)

Mike V. said...

Game of Thrones - Another short teaser on that watch the raven site. Not much to discuss!

http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/12/17/game-of-thrones-season-five-teaser-trailer/

PJ Carz said...

Ascension - Richard, you are not a voice crying in the cyberspace, I'm watching it, too. Acting is stiff, but I'm willing to watch it if it gets picked up. Just like I gave a pass to Charlie on Rev for being not interesting, good writing can make up for that. (I'm thinking of Kate on Lost.)

Mike V. said...

Grimm - Well those last 5 minutes were kinda important! lol Looks like Juliette is Wessen now? Worse yet she's a Hexenbeist like Adalind and Renard. That's quite a twist on the pregnancy we all assumed, and I didn't see it coming.

Not watching Ascension...just no time. But, interested to know if it ends up being any good!

Anonymous said...

Ascension--I was getting kind of bored with finale basically becoming like a typical drama with stupid stuff--lol.

So glad Samantha got knocked off. I was shocked about the director being knocked off. She looked like a potential series strong character.

The ending was amazing, blew me away! I was expecting the captain to die saving the ship and his wife would end up taking over with her emergency powers act.

Grimm--yea MIke when you said you hadn't seen the last 5 minutes I was laughing. Juliette a hexenbeast--that would make for an interesting marriage. I was very surprised she wasn't pregnant.

Richard

MJ said...

Disney - also had an awesome time. 1 day in Universal too. Weather was fabulous.

Gracepoint - I gave up the american version and was waiting to hear if the ending was different. Glad it was.

Librarian - Santa is real ! LOL That was awesome.

Ascension - have all 3 taped but not yet watched.

Grimm - glad you got to the last 5 mins - was waiting to comment until you did. I also did not see Juliette being a vesen now

Homeland finale - quite a dull finale. Didn't know the actor who played their dad died in real life. Only surprise is that Saul was desperate enough to get back into the CIA to take Dar Adal up on his offer and hide the fact that he made a deal with
haqqani (no idea how to spell his name).

Mike V. said...

Glad disney was great! And universal. How was diagon alley?? Still haven't seen that part of the potter park.

Homeland - I'm sure you knew about that at some point about the actor that played her father. I think I brought it up early in the season or right before. When Carrie got that call from her sister I knew what it was gonna be. But yeah pretty ho hum finale. And of course the forced Carrie/Quinn pairing goes all out. Lol

mj said...

Diagon Alley - great ride. Small roller coaster/wild mouse type. Ride on hogwarts express was cute. Dragon outside gringotts breaths fire every 15 mins.

The Killing - Finally watched the last 6 episodes on Netflix. MJ, they are worth watching to wrap the story up if you haven't already seen them.

The 4400 - Been watching this on Netflix. Has anyone seen it? It had 4 seasons, and I'm hoping it has an ending to the story instead of a cliffhanger.

mj said...

Killing - in my netflix queue

4400 -I did watch that when it was on. dont remember the ending tho

Over holidays been checking out The Missing (starz or max) and its been very good. Also will sample Outlander

Happy New Year every one.

Mike V. said...

Happy new year everyone! I'll be working Friday so I might get a comment or 2 in. But I haven't watched much lol.

Mike V. said...

Hello everyone! Happy New Year again! Back to the daily grind and daily TV watching. lol

Lots of stuff back tonight, Gotham, Sleepy....even Idol returns this week (other blog, I know but as a sidenote, not sure if there will be much to recap this year with results being the same night lol) Looking forward to later this month with the return of Justified and The Americans on FX. And of course, Shameless and Episodes this Sunday I believe! Ugh...it's going to get busy fast!

Did anyone catch the Galavant premiere last night? I was hooked pretty quickly. The show is hysterical. Loved that John Stamos's guest character was called "Jean Hamm" lol (still have the Galavant song stuck in my head)

Think I'm all caught up on Grimm and AHS. Got the TiVo set for Agent Carter (It's getting good reviews and it's like a 7/8 episode limited run, why not?)

Still haven't returned to Black Mirror but I've enjoyed what I've watched so far....and

drumroll....

FRIENDS has arrived on NETFLIX!!! Surprisingly we're only 3 or 4 episodes in for our 800th rewatch of the series! But the convenience of Netflix makes it that much easier to put them on right before we go to bed. Good stuff!

Mike V. said...

Renewal Scorecard. They make the same comments we've made here about Agents of SHIELD. It's not just the ratings, it's the promotion of the movies too...they think it'll stick around past this year. Gotham too. All speculation for now of course.

http://insidetv.ew.com/2015/01/04/tv-shows-renewed-canceled-2015/

mj said...

What was Black Mirror again?

Excited for Sleepy tonight. And Justified, Americans, Shameless too. Think Vikings back in Feb

I'm still behind on AHS.

Mike V. said...

MJ - Black Mirror is the UK show that just made it to Netflix. Each episode is a stand-alone story and it's very twilight zone-ish but all dealing with technology. They deal with current or possible very near future technologies and the potential events that could happen (which can be scary...especially with the first episode I watched...hilarious and scary). I'm still in the middle of the 2nd episode. There's only 6 on Netflix and I think a Christmas special aired this past December with Jon Hamm starring. Not sure when that might get added.

mj said...

Meant to also say - taped Galavant. No time for Friends. Maybe do friends in summer tho

PJ Carz said...

I loved Galavant. Husband was rolling his eyes at first, but then he liked started laughing and liking it, too.

Mike V. said...

GALAVANT - @PJ - yeah a lot of the jokes are intentionally bad, but I'm a sucker for Python-esque/Princess Bride-sian sarcastic humor and witty lyric puns. lol First and foremost, it's fun and that makes it entertaining. We'll see if they can keep it up!

PJ Carz said...

GALAVANT - do you think some of the naughty bits were missed by the censors on account of they were in lyrics and rhyme?

Mike V. said...

Galavant - Hmmm, I don't recall them actually saying anything actually naughty but just suggesting at them due to the rhyme. I thought they were just doing the ol' clever "avoid saying the actual word, but you all know what we're talking about" bit. lol

Leslie said...

Black Mirror - We watched all 6 episodes and enjoyed them. Definitely Twilight Zone-ish. Scary to put yourself in some of those situations. Our current technology is scary enough!

By the way, I like that I can just click now to prove I'm not a robot! lol

Mike V. said...

@Leslie - the click is certainly nice! Though sometimes (i.e. right now for me) after you click you still have to type something in. lol Maybe it'll stop all the spam comments I've been getting on the LOST blog. Ugh, so annoying!

Agreed on Black Mirror! Scary stuff in terms of technology potential. I still need to find time to watch the others!

BTW...in regards to Idol...it sounds like results will be in the following week's show, so maybe I'm not out of a job afterall. lol

MJ said...

Black Mirror - oh yeah ! I put it in the queue but not watched yet

Sleepy - Angels !?! Thought at first he was going to be Lucifer. They are getting very close to Supernatural with this story of angels not being all good and beasties getting out of hell to be chased. Had forgotten that the captain died in the fall finale - very excited to see he will be back in some form (cause he has to have something wrong with him, right ?). Laughed out loud at Abby listing all the things Ichabod would need to do now that the war was over (drivers license, insurance, job, home). Where was Henry ? Did they even wonder aloud on the show where Henry was ? What I did not undestand was why they gave headless his axe back after they killed Orion with it . But why bring this show back then hae re-runs the next week? Why didn't they just have a re-run this week then come bck next week ?

Gotham - not yet seen it.

Vikings - Tv Line has some stuf about season 3.

Robot - I've had to type something every time.

Mike V. said...

Sleepy - Halfway through so I don't want to read your episode thoughts yet! But I did see the first word...yeah ANGELS?? Kinda bizarre...but good approach letting all of the crazies leak out of purgatory to create more cases for the crew! I wonder how the hardcore fans will enjoy the 2nd half of the season!

Gotham - I watched...decent episode. Nice to see Firefly/V/Homeland alum Monica Baccarin getting more work. lol

Leslie said...

Idol - I figured you wouldn't have time for it this year anyway!

Robot - only 1 click for me. Haven't had to type something in too.

Mike V. said...

Idol - it's only 9 weeks of top 10...surely I can do 9! We'll see. lol

Mike V. said...

Sleepy - I had a feeling the captain was still alive (or something) lol Now all of those people complaining about racial inequality can eat some crow. lol (saw a pretty ridiculous article and commentary on TV guide yesterday claiming how to fix sleepy hollow)

I'm pretty sure the whole opening scene they were pondering where Henry was, then just assumed he was gone...he sacrificed himself for them and he was gone. Then they flashed to 6 weeks later. So, I guess they had time to get over it, but they did refer to him later in the episode also.

Gotham is on break next week too. I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe some sporting event? National Championship perhaps?? Seems to get later every year if that's the case. But with a playoff format I guess that makes sense. But yeah, they probably would've waited 2 weeks to bring it back at this point. I think Sleepy only has 18 episodes, so maybe they need to run as many as they can because they have something else lined up when it's over.

Mike V. said...

I confirmed the National Championship is on 1/12, but it's on ESPN. Fox is airing reruns against it. I guess that makes sense. Same demographic probably watches them. Not me, but a good chunk!

Anonymous said...

Gotham--Firefly girl and nurse both look familiar. Was the crazy doctor guy from HoW?

Ivy and the girl in Jim's place was pretty good. Barbera's a nut job, funny with Ivy, like she wouldn't know she was speaking with a girl.

Liked the Moroni stuff with Penguin.

Librarians--it may be getting better. I wasn't crazy when the Librarian came back and was put in back seat though.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Gotham - I had no idea what HoW was but IMDB showed me that that guy was on Hell on Wheels before Gotham. lol (Among a crazy amount of other things I've seen)

Yeah the Ivy/Selena thing was silly...and ridiculous that Barbara didn't catch on to something suspicious. lol

Agent Carter - Watched 1.5 hours of the 2 hour premiere. It's pretty good so far. Like the chemistry between Carter and Jarvis (who we know Jarvis is the name of Tony Stark's digital assistant in the Iron Mans and Avengers. that's voiced by Paul Bettany so not the same dude here!) Though based on the first hour seems like Howard Stark and Jarvis are hiding something from Carter. Obviously, not sure what!

MJ said...

Galavant - they were pretty good. Can't remember the lines now but some of those rhymes were hysterical. One I do remember them NOT saying erection. And the Winterfel sign was funny. Have to admit - funniest joust ever.

Gotham - I'll be glad to see her but I don't think her name is Monica, but can't remember what it actually is either. LOL Morena maybe ?

Librarians - I'm still enjoying it.

The Missing - excellent 8 episode show on Cinemax. Think it was a brit show that Cinemax is just airing.

Robot - bet that because I clear my cookies daily I have to keep doing it.

MJ said...

Sleepy - whiners ! Sleepy doesn't need fixing, though Katrina is a weak spot.

Mike V. said...

Galavant - Pretty much the same highlights I took from the episodes as well! lol The joust was hysterical.

Gotham - Yeah it's Morena....I knew it didn't sound right but was too lazy to look it up. Who would've thought I'd be closer on that last name than her first? LOL

Librarians - Still have not watched it at all with no plans to! :)

I heard about The Missing...are you sure it's cinemax or is it Starz? I don't have Cinemax but I heard about a show worth watching on Starz. lol I looked it up..it's Starz. :)

Robot - That could be it! I used to not have to enter the captcha (sp) because I'm the blog host, but now it makes it me do it since this change!

Sleepy - She's definitely the weakest part of the show, agreed. But I see no issues with diversity. They're drawing it to the recruiting of "unnecessary stereotypical white male character Hawley" and the reduction of roles for Abbey's sister and Orlando Jones' supposed death....but they're both back! So boo ya! The producers even said "trust us" recently in an interview. Considering I've been enjoying the show, I'll agree with them. lol

mj said...

Starz Cinemax - its all boobs. lol

Sleepy - people are idiots

Carter - read the ratings were even better then Shield. Figures i'm different but I love Shield and am only marginally curious about Carter. While I enjoyed her in Capt America I don't think her character can carry a whole show. but we shall see.

Mike V. said...

Starz/Cinemax - LOL touche'

Carter - It's better than SHIELD probably because it's a premiere which draws some curiosity. But it's down 60% from SHIELD's "Series" premiere. lol

I think they're just trying to retain the same crowd. I doubt they'd get many new interested viewers, but maybe the 40s time period and the Captain America fans might tune in that aren't very interested in Agents of SHIELD tuned in. I dunno. I wouldn't really consider her carrying a show either, but she didn't do too bad and the critics are raving about her performance.

Mike V. said...

Game of thrones premiere April 12th. Seems like a week later than previously.

http://insidetv.ew.com/2015/01/08/game-of-thrones-season-5-premiere-date/

mj said...

Gotham - kept waiting for Baccarin to be the bad guy. Nurse has been on many things. Dating myself but remember her as receptionist
On moonlighting.

Carter - wasn't bad . I never read the comics so only know her fr recent capt movies but where'd those fighting skills come from? Loved her in heels on roof of moving car fighting and not falling off

Mike V. said...

Carter - I never read the comics either...but she was an agent in Captain America too and showed those skills in the movie I believe.

Gotham - I'm sure I saw her on moonlighting too. I was young, but I loved that show! lol

Black Mirror - Finally got through the 2nd episode. They're really good! Started the 3rd but not far into it yet. Still the technology hits very close to home.

Mike V. said...

Black Mirror - Wow, finished the 3rd and mostly through the 1st ep of season 2. Critics did not lie. Don't want to spoil anything so I won't say much but definitely worth a watch!

Shameless - Insanity picked right back up. Love this show!!

No episodes yet or galavant....watched the globes. lol

MJ said...

Shameless/House Lies - I watched the las two of each so not the new ones yet. Had forgotten so much.

Mike V. said...

Shameless - (No spoilers) I had pretty much remembered everything from the finale but the recap did a good job of reminding. lol

Mike V. said...

Renewals - Scorpions among other shows we don't discuss are getting 2nd seasons. Not a shocker. CBS has a successful run with procedurals. lol

But I still haven't been able to keep up with Scorpions!

Anonymous said...

Scorpions--it's one of the few shows my wife and I both enjoy. It's really one of the better fun shows. Witty and VERY unusual/smart in how it's handling divorce, raising kids, single moms, single dads, etc. There's plenty(I think too many) of dark violent oversexed shows out there.

Richard

Leslie said...

Shameless - With a free Showtime preview weekend, we watched all of last season, except episode 7 which was missing from On Demand for some reason. This show keeps living up to its name! Last scene....Jimmy/Steve is back! Wow! I will be checking for your comments on the new season. Don't really care about spoilers on this one.

Mike V. said...

Showtime is rebooting twin peaks and bringing Kyle McLaughlin (so) back as well as David lynch. Guess ill finally have to watch the original on Netflix! Lol

Mike V. said...

5 of 6 episodes into Black Mirror. Still fails to disappoint!

Episodes - Funny as always. Loved that matt implied he lost all of his money but he still had $31 million lol Good times.

Galavant - Still enjoying! Didn't realize they were squeezing 8 episodes into 4 weeks. Speaking of which.

Parks and Rec returns tonight! - Final Seasons which they'll run back to back episodes until complete. I think it's only 13 eps. I'm sure they'll be fantastic. That said, not sure if I'll get to it tonight or not. lol

mj said...

Shameless - funny as ever. More than I ever needed tosee of Frank. Sammy is SO out of control. Lovedthat she found Sheilas old toys. I know the chick leaving Fi the big tips was with Jimmy but can't remember her on show before?

Twin Peaks - was fab in beginning. nothing like it before in that time, but got kinda bad over time got too bizarre for its own sake so never finished watching it. Kinda how Nip/Tuck got too ridiculous

Excited by Parks. Not seen Episodes yet either

Mike V. said...

Shameless - Didn't even make that connection with Jimmy and the girl leaving the tips. Guess it helps to watch the finale afterall! lol I don't know if she's been on the show before though...I doubt it!

Yep Sammy is out of control. It's quite a bit of a character change for her though. I guess they're going with the whole "now that she's done caring for her dad in his final days...she is now unleashing her daddy issues" lol

Twin Peaks - I thought it was only on for 1 season...was it longer? Questions I can and probably will look up before you even read this. lol

Mike V. said...

Twin Peaks - 1 8 episode season and a 22 episode 2nd season. lol

Mike V. said...

Community - I think I'm the only one that watches but season 6 will premiere 3/17 on Yahoo Screen (various streaming devices). Dan Harmon said he is not writing this as if it's the end. (i.e. still a chance for that movie #sixseasonsandamovie! Of course if it's a hit for Yahoo..no telling how long they'll keep it going. But considering they're dropping castmembers by the year it might not have much legs left besides getting everyone together for a final movie)

Leslie said...

Twin Peaks - I felt exactly as MJ did. I didn't watch it to the end either, but really like it at first.

Parenthood - does anybody watch this? It's been a really good show about family relationships and is ending this season.

Mike V. said...

Parenthood - I think I watched the pilot. Had I known it was Jason Katims of Friday Night Lights fame, I probably would've stuck with it...but the timeslot was rough for us in keeping up with our other shows. It's on Netflix so we may catch up one day. He is doing About a Boy now too. He loves those movie adaptations into TV shows and does them really well!

Twin Peaks - Yeah, I've heard that it was the inspiration for a lot of our great shows such as LOST, X-Files, etc... I probably never would've considered watching it, but I'm sure Showtime has a decent idea if they're going to revive it. Granted, Showtime also knows how to keep things running past their expiration date too!

mj said...

Parenthood- watched for a few years but gave it up

Mod Fam - did not watch new one last night but watched the last two. God this show cracks me up

Mike V. said...

MF - So that was Haley's 21st and the "near death experience" episodes? They were hysterical, I agree! We haven't watched this week's either!

AHS - Not sure if you're caught up...but my DVR cut off last week's episode at the end and I was very confused with how this week's episode started. I feel like I missed something really big. lol Oh well...I watched this episode too...and it was pretty shocking...and awfully gruesome. I'm glad there's only one left.

On the nipple armor.

Since they re SUPPOSED to be so careful and take their time--reason given for only 10 eps, this stuff shouldn't happen. From the pics, it does look a little cheesy.

Thanks for the links Richard. I actually saw the first one yesterday too. How do we know GRRM actually wrote that?? lol It's never really clear. But, it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't coldhands.

Didn't know about the nipple suits, but when I read the headline, I immediately went to Batman and Robin (Clooney and the nippled batsuit lol)....Maybe it won't look so bad in the show, but we'll see.

That last link will require some more reading...i just scanned it. I debated getting that book though, but I've heard mixed things. I just want WoW dammit!!

Anonymous said...

Well, the book is supposed to be well regarded in the library??

I think the book has some good stuff in it from what I read. But, there are some big what ifs in it.

Grimm-Wow, what a comeback. Wu's in the loop now and Juliette's a wessen, crazy. I can see a big clash coming down the line. And the deal with Monroe didn't seem truly dangerous since I can't see him being killed off.

Game of Thrones - Sorry was sending a link real quick yesterday but didn't explain. 2/8 at 7:30 HBO will air a "making of" special that will show a behind the scenes look at what goes into filming an episode of Game of Thrones. Of course new sets will be shown for the new season....and maybe it will give people an understanding at the effort gone into making a single episode, let alone 10 within a year timeframe! (or 53 weeks it would seem this year lol)

Gotham - Good stuff...Penguin ratted out Fish. Gordon back at Gotham PD. Riddler getting extra creepy. Entertaining show.

Sleepy - Only halfway through but I'm sure fans will be in an uproar that the main plot features the Crane Couple! lol But maybe the B plot will keep them intrigued enough.

Still didn't watch Grimm. I've fallen behind on shows but I'll catch up!

JUSTIFIED TONIGHT!!! :-)

MJ said...

Sleepy - See by your comments you have not finished Sleepy. Cranes were actually the better part of the story. When they give Katrina part of the story she is a very likable character. They need to include her more Kinda creepy when that guy in the picture was turned around all of a sudden. How gross was that scene with Jenny pulling those bullets out ! LOL Interesting at the end with the DA going to drop charges on the former captain. What evidence could exonerate him without Maysey being the guilty one ?

Shameless - have not seen new one yet.

Grimm - I had a heart attack for that split second when Juliette killed Rosalee! I knew it could not be real but my jaw was hanging open. And now Dru Wu is officially part of the scooby gang. Kew that cop was dirty ! Sure was awful what they did to that other Wesen that was being held with Monroe - but of course we all know Monroe will not die.

Gotham - they really have changed the personalities of both Gordon and Bulloch - for the better I think. Glad that Penguin told Falcone - cause Falcone just moving aside was kinda lame. But now Moroni knows he's double crossing him with Falcone. The disappointing part was that stopping Gruber took merely a cup of water ? Really ? oh well.

Librarians - the finale was a very fun episode. And to find out that the guy in the annex is Sir Galahad was great. Iwondered the same with aring them back to back - why so fast ? I hope they aren't just killing them off - I like this show. Would be a great summer show.

Justified - watched the finale from last year. Boy I had forgotten alot. Don't know if I can watch tonight cause I have Supernatural on Tuesdays as well.

MF - yes - and Lily the clown.

AHS - still several behind unfortuantely.

Mike V. said...

Sleepy - I'll let you know if I agree when I finish! lol
Shameless - I won't spoil anything and I know we say it every year...but I really love this show! It's very rare these days when I'm watching a show where I hope it will just keep going. The hour flies by!

Gotham - I think they were going for the whole "Indiana Jones shoots the swordsman" effect with Gordon throwing the cup of water on him. lol A lot of build-up to a comical ending (of course we all know Harrison was sick the day they filmed that and couldn't do a big fight scene...leading to one of the classic moments in cinematic history!). Yep, Penguin will be in hot water. Not sure if it's me but I still can't see the actor playing Moroni as anyone but Angel on Dexter. lol

Justified - All I remember is that they're finally going after Boyd this season as they should. I'm sure the previously on will remind me of what I need to remember from the finale! After ending basically every season with a line from Brad Paisley's Harlan tune....I do worry for Raylan's safety in the finale. lol Will he make it to his family in Miami or will he "never leave Harlan alive?"

MF - lol..just watched last night. Fizbo and Lizbo! lol

AHS - You're really not missing much. Obviously I'll finish it since there's only one episode left but it's been the worst season by far. I think I enjoyed Asylum the best (which there WAS a nod to this season).

Gotham--Liked the doctor and Gordon. The riddler with the cupcake and bullet was great. I felt sorry for him in a way. Fish is in trouble, but I don't see her being taken off the show yet, so just don't see exactly how that's going to end yet. I would think though that either Falcone, Moroni or Fish will be taken down to make room for the more famous villians.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Gotham - I'll be the first to admit I don't know the various origin story histories of Batman, but I'm pretty sure Falcone is around when Bruce gets a little older. (at least he was in Batman Begins) Fish is a completely made up character that could easily be offed without disrupting the BatFandom. But, she's also a fun character so they may keep her around for awhile.

I don't think they're in any rush to unveil ALL of the Batman villains. I mean, I think they'll want to tell their origin stories but those villains are supposed to be Batman's villains. Not Commissioner Gordon's or young Bruce's. Penguin was an exception and he's still young so he'll obviously probably stick around. Unless they pull a Smallville Jimmy Olsen thing and we find out he's not the ACTUAL Penguin when he's killed off but the actual Penguin's older brother. lol

But yeah, you'd think someone will be offed by the end of this season. We'll see!

Justified - I watched but I'll stay silent for now! :) Just glad it's back for one more round!

MJ said...

Justified - Boyd watching Ava sleep like he was trying to read her was kinda creepy. Wondering if both Boyd and Raylan will go down by the end of the season. RIP Dewey - he was always highly amusing. Though knew immediately he was carrying nothing in the truck that it ws just to get Raylan and Tim to follow him.

Gotha, - yes ! Angel - and his little lisp too.

AHS - I liked 1st one first, then probably New Orleans then Asylum.

Shameless - OMG - Sammi is out of control. And what she is teaching Chucky !

Mike V. said...

Grimm - Watched this morning. Definitely good stuff with Wu in the know now. And yeah that Rosalee/Juliette scene was nuts! I knew it couldn't be real either. Main characters aren't usually killed off that abruptly! lol And agree Monroe will survive! At least Adalind is finally coming back to town. Those Europe plots are usually the worst of the show.

AHS - Yeah, I can definitely see everyone's opinions being different on this one. Granted, it's not one of my favorite shows at all. I'm glad The Americans will be back to replace it next week!

Shameless - LOL on Chucky/Sammi. The show is so funny and insane. Saw the whole nursing subplot coming a mile away. I always think "what's the most awkward thing that could possibly happen in this scenario?" and then I'm usually dead on. lol

Justified - RIP Dewey indeed. I had a feeling he was going. Gotta love those "stare at the picture/flowers" moments. Yeah, I had a feeling he was a decoy too. Yeah..it wouldn't surprise me of Boyd and Raylan go down by the end. It just would be a shame if he never gets to meet his daughter. And just flat out cruel by the TV gods! lol

mj said...

Justified - very true about the daughter

Def looking fwd to Americans being back

Ahs - in the past was in my top - but not this year

mj said...

Ahs - meant top 20. lol

mj said...

Ahs - watched the finale. Yikes. So almost everyone is killed, they then kill Dandy. Elsa gets all she ever wanted and is miserable, reaper comes and puts her in what? Limbo? So she gets to live forever with her freaks who are no longer mad, sing every night to a sold out crowd. So everything she wants. I didn't get this at all

Mike V. said...

AHS - Yeah, my reaction to all of it was "meh"...lol the bloodbath must be a liberating feeling for a show that will reboot every year. Yeah they pretty much killed everyone....and then in the end Elsa died and got to rejoin with her friends in what I can only assume was their version of an afterlife. lol Very LOST Finale-esque without the intense emotional ties that viewers grew to have over 6 seasons.

It was just a bizarre season. So the episode that got cutoff must've been the one where Michael Chickliss was killed (spelling)....because one episode he was breaking his son out of jail, and the next he was just gone. lol I missed what happened there...not that it matters.

worst AHS season by far!

Mike V. said...

Grimm - Good episode! Was definitely feeling some genuine emotion with the rescue of Monroe, Rosalie killing the head dude of the council and then their celebration afterwards. Hysterical that Nick and Hank were going on the honeymoon with them. lol I couldn't buy Juliette with a gun....or at the very least, Nick and crew letting her go on the raid. None of them even knew she is a hexenbeist. I was also confused how her attacker got his head shot off. Did she take his gun and do it? At first I thought Nick did it and that was going to be how he'd find out she was Wesen now. But looks like they're going with the slow burn for that story arc again.

Wu's transition over to "being in the club" has been entertaining too. Love how he punched the wesen cop in the face when he wogued. lol

And of course the cliffhanger with Juliette showing regard what she is. Fun stuff.

Shameless - Another awesome episode of an awesome show. I can usually predict what ridiculous things are coming on the show. The breast milk sweatshop and Debbie "raping" her pizza man. Still crazy to watch them actually happen. But, I gotta say...Frank's blowup on the girls and then the house blowing up....didn't see that coming at all! And of course that dude was in there and blew up with it. lol Crazy crazy show. And why couldn't Lip just tell Mandy he loves her!?!?! I know...for suspense!

Liked the turn with Fiona's man hunt....she accidentally ended up with the jazz dude. But Jimmy is still lingering out there and that girl "the big tipper" is being pretty awkward about it! I wonder how long they'll wait to bring him back on....or if he'll even have an arc this season.

Oh right...and Carl is non-stop hilarity with his antics. lol Loved that the lesbians aren't scared of him. lol

Mike V. said...

Episodes - Another show that I can see what's coming a mile away but the execution is hysterical. What's her face getting with her boss again but this time a woman. But the cut to black and her saying "so maybe it's not just daddy issues" was fantastic. lol Love that they're having a copyright issue with their new show. Fun stuff!

Anonymous said...

Grimm--actually not a bad ep, again. But, the deal with Juliette not telling Nick about her wesen stuff is a little stupid--artificial drama that doesn't really work. Interesting to know that wesens can be made?? I wonder about Grimms??

Richard

Mike V. said...

Grimm - I agree they always milk Juliette's storyline because she doesn't have much use outside of being Nick's girlfriend. lol Now it looks like they're going to introduce a "danger" element because Nick's a grimm...so maybe that's why she's not telling him. yeah because that makes sense! One of his best friends is a grimm!!

Interesting...didn't think about Grimms being made too. I'm sure it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

MJ said...

Grimm - well we all knew Monroe was safe but I was a little nervous for Bud. I was hysterical when he was talking about premature vogeing. Rosalie and Juliette getting tough was a little comical. I kinda felt Jules voging then screamed somehow imploded the guys head ? Richare - for now I don't have an issue with Juliette not telling Nick - Nick has been pretty busy trying to help then save Monroe after all.

Sons of Liberty - any one watch ? I am taping the 3 nights and will watch eventually.

Sleepy - Ichabod does karoake ! LOL Can't wait.

No Shameless or Episodes. Watch movie American Hustle finally. LOL

Mike V. said...

Grimm - Ahhh maybe it was her screaming...a Hexenbeist skill perhaps?? Makes sense. lol Premature Voguing was funny. lol I was scared for Bud too but didn't think they'd really kill him off either. He's a local portland actor that they brought in as a guest role and love bringing him back. lol

Sons of Liberty - Recording it as well and planning to watch eventually.

Game of Thrones - The annual re-watch has begun! I'm in episode 3 of season 1!

American Hustle - Wow...watching last year's Oscar flicks?? lol I never saw it either not sure when I'll ever get to it. Did see American Sniper last wknd though....great film!

Anonymous said...

Grimm--loved the premature vogeing as well. Good to know about Bud being a local actor. MJ, good point about Juliette.

GoT--not yet for me, when does it start again--been so long I've forgotten?

Blacklist--we get 3 eps next week, can't wait. I bought S1 on BD while on sale at Christmas. So far though, this season hasn't been worth buying. Keep in mind I haven't purchased anything as far as TV show BDs though, except S1 of Blacklist.

Helix back on for a couple weeks now. Haven't made up my mind how I like an island replacing the Artic? But, it's intriguing that Jules is dieing and that the other girl is 15 mos pregnant!!

American Sniper--was a great movie!! My son, his friend and myself went to the really big theatre with special sound, etc for this last Sat. matinee and it was packed!!! NOBODY spoke as we walked out and there was likely near a 1000.

Richard

mj said...

Lol on last yr oscar movies - I almost never see the nominated movies. Don't think I knew this one was. Its been sitting on my dvr for awhile

mj said...

Helix - I gave it up. Didn't like end of season 1

Mike V. said...

Blacklist - UGH...3 episodes???? 8-11? That's entirely way too much for one night. lol We'll probably watch them over the week.

GoT - You've got time. It premieres 4/15 (I think I posted it a couple weeks ago in this thread). Season 4 comes out on Blu middle of February so I thought I'd get started. Of course, I just watch them on HBO Go but still feel the need to buy the blu-ray for the special features! lol

American Sniper - We saw it opening weekend on a Saturday Matinee....in a special theater as well. I think it was Digital XD or something like that. Packed for us and same thing..no one spoke at the end. 1000 eh??? That's a crazy theater!!

Oscar Movies - LOL I do the same thing. Record movies and never watch them!

mj said...

Blacklist - can't be back to back. first one is after superbowl

Mike V. said...

Oh right...duh. Forgot about the Superbowl Episode. Still will probably take us awhile to catch up!

Anonymous said...

Blacklist--moves to Thursday next week with 2 hour ep.

1000--Yea, a guess. Theatre has like 20+ seats across and around 50 rows. The screen is the largest I've seen, like around 100' or so. It's at least 3 to 4 times bigger than most screens today.

Richard

Anonymous said...

Librarians--good season finale. My wife observed that the true librarian is really such a better actor.

Richard

Anonymous said...

Shameless - Carlaligus? Omg! And poor Deb! But blowing up the muslim guy (accidently) and Sheila just driving off was something I did not see coming

Episodes - always love Beverly and her freebies. The drawing was hysterical. Loved seeing Merc again. Can't wait for the conversatio when Carol tells Bev she's sleeping with another boss but this one a chick

Gotham - no Gotham talk? Glad they did not kill Fish. So I guess Kat is pushing Bruce away to stop him getting hurt or too attached?

Justified - Ava sure does have some stones. Loved Choo Choo -- hope we get more

mj said...

Oops - that was me above

Anonymous said...

Gotham--Fish survives--we kind of figured she wasn't going to get killed off yet. Yea, the Kat seemed brutal with Bruce. I'm not sure what she's up to except that we know she ends up pursuing a life of crime and so may be taking a turn for the worse? Ivy is a bad influence too.

I also think it's interesting how Gordon's got a few friends who end up being very criminal like Cobblepot. The ending where he was just realizing he may have wrongfully jailed someone due to the penguin's punishing the guy's family was interesting.

I was kind of hoping for more Gordon and the doctor stuff--lol.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Shameless - lol on the Carl term. Agreed on everything else!

Episodes - The drawing was fantastic. And yep...Bev's reaction is going to be great!

Gotham - I've been pretty swamped...I think I watched yesterday morning. I assumed as much with Kat. I'm guessing there will be more Gordon and Doc stuff in episodes to come. Seems like they didn't focus on Gordon's love life this ep. lol

Sleepy - Karaoke stuff felt very Ally McBeal (which I didn't watch)....but still comical. I don't think Crane would've even know the right rhythm to sing the song at the end...but I guess we can suspend disbelief a bit! lol Nice Star Wars references...though I feel like they're trying to "force" fun elements into the show because of all of the fan complaints. lol

Justified - Choo Choo was hysterical. lol Ava seems like she's scared s-less but when the moment calls for stones...she sure brings them! Great episode.

Started watching Agent Carter but not too far into it.

Americans back tonight! I'll be sure to watch ASAP. I'm hearing good things about the season so far.

MJ said...

Justified - was surprised Boyd told Raylan what was in the bag before Raylan even asked. Threw me off somehow - which I'm sure is why Boyd did that to Raylan too. Mentioned Choo Choo earlier - also loving the guy he reports to (used to be on Raising Hope). Tension is really ratcheted up this season - you can see it on Ava's face when Raylan is concerned Boyd put the books there purposely to catch her. So I realize the guys buying the land are making this realtor guy nervous so he started the journals for records - but why did Katherine and Wynn want these stolen ? How'd they know about them ? And Sam Elliot ! Wow he looks good for his age.

Americans - I have to watch the finale - but am going to try to watch tonight

Mike V. said...

Justified - I think he was on ER too (Raising Hope guy)....but funny...I don't know if you remember those TV Christmas movies back in the 80s but he was a kid in both The Night They Saved Christmas and It Come Upon a Midnight Clear. He was the go to kid back in the day! Didn't even realize it was the same person until I was one IMDB one time.

No idea with Katherine/Wynn stuff. I sometimes get lost in all of the wheelings and dealings on this show. But it sure is entertaining!

Mike V. said...

Justified - Wait a minute I screwed that up...the red head is the ER guy/TV Movie guy.....the guy they report to is the Raising Hope guy...and yeah he's been entertaining so far.

Mike V. said...

Keep forgetting blacklist is moving to Thursday. We are gonna have problems watching all of that! Lol

Anonymous said...

LOL on the kids programs.

I forgot BBT--a favorite.

I didn't know SW Rebels was still on?

Richard

Mike V. said...

SW Rebels - Yeah it's hasn't been a long run of weekly episodes but season 1 is still going. Just last week they had Billy Dee Williams reprising young Lando.

MJ said...

Americans - That was some fight Elizabeth got in - beating up John boy ! LOL But for all that she lost the list . Not surprised that Philip and Elizabeth are of two minds about Paige going into spying - even thugh Elizabeth say sno you can see that she could lean that way. Not totally sure I followed the Pakistani guy who choked his girlfirend thing. Who were they that Philip was listening ? Have we met them and I'm just not remembering ? And the kid Elizabeth was giving driving without a tail lessons to - I don't remember him from before.

Justified - oh yah - Forgot the ER guy.

Empire - sorry not watching. Too much stuff already.

Vikings - think there are 2 specials actually. Both called Athelstains Diary - but then each with a different word (don't remember them). Thought it was duplicate myself.

Crap - I watch more then that. LOl But thought you got the wife to give up TVD ! Bates will be back shortly too.

Mike V. said...

Americans - Definitely an intense fight Elizabeth got in...I think they mentioned there was going to be a sketch made of her. Didn't that happen before and Stan got suspicious of his neighbors?

Didn't the Pakistani thing start last season? That might be something else I'm thinking of. I could be wrong. Seems like Afghanistan will play a large role in this season though and Russia's involvement with it all. Basically what it boils down to is that Annalise (or whatever her name is) fell in love with her target and died because of it. And I don't think we met the kid Elizabeth is working for either. It looks to me that they have assets working for them now...kinda like they report to people too. Good episode regardless of the confusion! lol

Vikings - Hmm..if I remember I'll set the DVR. But, if I don't, I'll just wait for season 3! lol

GoT - anyone going to see the final 2 episodes on IMAX?? Obviously, the Beniof and Weiss are hyping it up but they said they were pretty impressed with the conversion. No way I'll be able to get out of the house for it, but I would've in my youth! lol

TV Roster - Naaa..we caught up on TVD this past summer and have stayed up to date in real time so far. That's probably about to change! Ahhh yes Bates. Fantastic..more stuff! lol House of Cards will be up on Netflix at the end of Feb too.

But yeah...our TV watching has decreased dramatically!

Anonymous said...

You guys watch a lot more shows than I do--lol.

I get all the premium channels and so end up watching some decent movies.

BTW, tried to watch BlackSails but just ended up disliking.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Scandal - Pretty crazy episode. That dude from True Blood didn't fool me. I suspected he was in on it. And I figured there would be a twist when she escaped...assumed she'd be in D.C. but it was a little more elaborate than that. lol Ahh and the Vermont House dream. I probably said this before. The whole thing with the Vermont House...is very much like Grey's Anatomy with the house Derek was building. Shonda loves the promise of a life together! lol

BBT - Great game they were playing with Raj. lol

Go ahead and dump. Lol I'll wait until I post a new walking dead recap next week then will go back to weekly discussion posts.

MJ said...

Grimm - thought for a minute we were going to add ghosts to the Grimm world. The ghost hunters reminded me of something on Suernatural - which I won't go into since no one else watches it. LOL That was quite the Wesen talent - electrocuting people to a crisp. That lady Juliette was sent to was just creepy ! Loved how anything about her on paper would re-arrange itself after the person read it. I'm not following how Juliette's Wesen is blowing up engines - or killing the guy last week by like imploding his head or something. Did Adalind have that talent ? I didn't think so. I know last week Juliette and Rosalee talked about born Wesen vs made Wesen and I thought she said the transformation is harder but I wonder if she said more and I did not catch it? Strangest though was Renards healed wounds bleeding again. I thought for sure Adalind was going to walk out of the shadows. So how long does it take to get from Austria to Portland ? Didn't she say weeks ago that she was going back ? LOL

heroes - I really did not want to see this show - but dang it it's Zach Levi !

Getting tired of all the re-dos of shows. Broadchurch was excellent and re-made in america as Gracepoint. Luther is another great brit show which is being re-done here. They have re-done Odd Couple and now Heroes. Shows that come on billed as a one time event are getting multiple seasons (Dome, Extant, The Missing, Boradchurch). For some reason I thought The Affair on SHowtime was a one and done also - but it's not. Some new one coming in March is being billed as 'event tv' but now I don't believe them that it will just run and be done (can't remember the name either) LOL

Mike V. said...

Grimm - You pretty much covered everything! lol I thought the same thing about Adalind. I figured she'd be showing up at Renard's door at the end but there was that other twist with the wounds. Wu's integration into the team has been a good fit so far!

Heroes - I watched the preview but guess I missed Zach in the preview. Saw all the tweets afterwards. lol I'm sure I'll record the thing...but I was so turned off by the season 1 finale and everything that happened afterwards! Maybe a mini-series is a better idea for the show.

Reboots/Redos/limited runs - Yeah, it's getting out of hand. This new era of Netflix and limited run shows allows these shows to come back when they were presumed done for good. As long as the talent can coordinate something it can happen. I'm sure you heard an X-Files limited run season is in the works right? Gillian Anderson was even crowd sourcing the idea on The Nerdist Podcast before the news leaked out. They started a hashtag #xfiles2015

Anyway so that's returning shows vs. reboots. These UK shows that are doing well are pretty well done now. It's not like they have to recreate them to get production standards up to snuff. Like there's rumors of doing Black Mirror in the US too. But the UK version is so good, why bother?

I don't think The Affair was ever booked as a 1 season show. Showtime has shown no signs of knowing when to quit with a show! See: Dexter, Homeland, etc... lol (granted, Homeland improved throughout the season)

Mike V. said...

oh right...Blacklist - didn't get to it either. We were exhausted last night and didn't want to start it. If we're lucky, we can squeeze that and Shameless in tonight!

MJ said...

Sleepy - Hey they are finally going to use the witch ! Could be interesting - Katrina going dark. Did you catch the line from the Warloch to Kat - ever wonder why some of your spells don't work? Cause you are not using your dark powers (or someting like that). That struck me since alot of the Katrina haters throw that out - that for a powerful witch her spells don't work. I always put it down to the house she was in with headless had a hex on it blocking magic. And they are finally bringing Henry back too. Too bad only 3 more episodes left in the season. Too bad they told us last week with the Capt not seeing his reflection that he wasn't really himself again - cause then him stealing the Grimoire would have been shocking.

Shows - yeah I heard that about Xfiles. LIke Heroes I gave up Xfiles before its end.

heroes - I can remember being so excited during that first season - 'save the cheerleader save the world'. Then it went so horribly wrong. LOL

Showtime - yes they do have a habit of lingering too long.

Anonymous said...

Blacklist--really setting up a new arc with Pearlman and the new guy in the alliance that's the blonde's boss. I am going to LOL if the 2 F-22s don't destroy the rig. Seriously the two F-22s have more than 2 missles and were ordered to blow it up.

Now we know what the fulcrum is( I never thought it wasn't Liz btw) and that Liz has a key role. I'm not sure how though, since it's a file. Funny if it were on an old floppy disk.

I really wish they wouldn't put the key people in dangerous situations that we almost know aren't going to turn out bad, like with hangings that didn't happen.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Sleepy - Yeah before I watched I remember them signing up for 18 episodes (which was a 6 episode expansion from last season)...so then I looked at IMDB to find out it'll be over after February. I guess The Following will replace it and Gotham will go the full 22 episodes.

I noticed the Katrina "spells don't work" comment, but I didn't even pick up that might be acknowledging Katrina haters...but I did assume she'd flirt with the dark side...that gives her something to do! lol Episode was good...but yeah we kinda knew Capt was up to no good.

Xfiles - i quit too and never really was a full time watcher anyway. But, I'd be totally onboard for a 12 episode limited run series without worrying about catching up on the old stuff. lol

Blacklist - I actually thought for a second they might pull the trigger on some of the minor characters on the chains. but we were basically laughing when Red was out cold and Lizzie was giving him CPR and they were playing the sweeping dramatical music. We didn't even flinch thinking he'd die. lol

So Clay Morrow is #21 on the Black List (Sons of Anarchy reference there...plus low blacklist number for Super Bowl ep and February sweeps) and he took an interest in Lizzie once he knew who she was (the girl in the fire)....naturally, my gut instinct is always to think..."hey..maybe he's her dad!" lol But...probably not.

I figured there would be a cliffhanger leading into Thursday's eps.

And i'd probably get ready to laugh a little bit with the Rig explosion. I mean, surely everyone that is important will escape intact! lol

Shameless - That was quite the tale tracing Frank and his money ! And him running all over town in bird poop! LOL Now Deb is becoming a little Ho - already moving on to the next guy. How much of a disaster is this marriage going to be !?! Not even a mention by Fiona how she still has to be living at home taking care of those kids ! Not that she is ever home with them again this season. Ian - just spiraling further - but hysterical when he was chasing Mickey around. Couldn't tell if Amanda was glad or mad tht dad is liking Lip. At first she seemed annoyed - but then she was kinda smiling about it.

Blacklist - haven't seen yet. Know that Ron Perlman is on though

New show coming this week after Blacklist called Allegiance - not sure what it's about but kinda looks like the Americans to me

Allegiance - Yep, not even going to bother. lol

Shameless - Episode was another classic! But yeah, I don't even think Fiona even thought about the impact to her family until after she called Deb at the end of the episode. Frank's storyline was great! And Lip's too. But yeah pretty much everyone is on a downward spiral. I wonder if Sheila will turn up again this season. And we still gotta wonder when Jimmy/Steve will show up. And Fiona's boss (Dermot)...surely we're going to see him go off the hook before the end of the season.

Justified - Can't believe Ava was driving ater all that drinking. LOL I actually nodded off a bit during the ep so hope I didn't miss much. Ava was nuts to be nosing around the basement of the pizza place. Who sent the men after Boyd ? Was it Sam Elliot ?

Scandal - that was some crazy stuff. Knew she was not in another country though. Very slick that she was right across the hall - but Yuck on her being hidden under the dead body in the bag. I only vaguely recall some guys wanting to start a war earlier in the season. Was it the guy running for VP and that blonde chick ?

Justified - Ehh, it's Harlan, Kentucky. They do that stuff in small town USA! lol

I don't know everyone's name...but the dude who owns the pizza place (yes Sam Elliott) sent men after Boyd. I'm pretty sure that was Choo Choo and ER guy in the ski masks. Meanwhile Sam Elliott went to Ava's house with bearded guy from Raising Hope. lol

And of course now Boyd is planning to kill him which is exactly what Mary Steenburgen wanted, even though she's sleeping with him. They want whatever is in that vault.

Scandal - Hmm...good point, might be the VP and Portia Del Rossi. Guess we'll find out more tomorrow!

Grimm--finally saw the ep. Great ep, still not liking Juliette keeping wesen self from Nick. Lots of people using the trailer now, wonder how long it can be a secret? Was funny when Juliette aseked--did I do that.

Blacklist - FYI it's not 2 new episodes tonight. Reairing super bowl episode and then showing conclusion. Truthfully, I'm a little relieved! lol

Blacklist

So, it looks like we will find out more about which side drives Liz--her FBI side or criminal side. Will she turn it over to the FBI or use it more for her personal gain? Of course her possessing it could lead to her becoming a target by the Alliance in upcoming eps.

Toward the end when the Dr told Liz, everything we heard/saw for most of the ep as it relates to your memory may be totally false--LOL. CHEESE, yet again. Like the cheese on Red not being arrested all of last year while working with various law enforcement agencies but now he's arrested when convenient for the storyline. Also, the cheese on the rig to be destroyed by TWO F-22s and yet Braxton's helo is in good shape--LOL.

I think the years separation from Liz's house burning to Red's house being attacked is important. My thoughts are that the Alliance people searching for the Fulcrum weren't sure who had it. And so their search eventually took them to Red's house. Red was still in the Navy in 1989 seemingly pursuing his admiral star. The Alliance evidently attacked Red then and wants to attack him now and it is only his use of the fulcrum that has kept him safe. And his family went underground to survive as well.

Cooper looked to have received some bad health news!

I feel ripped off with the repeat ep btw. It was billed as a two ep special.

Blacklist - Yeah there was some cheese in the episode I agree. I felt like all the "big reveals" were stuff we kinda knew already. We knew "Red was there"...but now Lizzie knows. awesome!! I feel so much better about that! lol (sarcasm) But yeah..then the twist with her memories being false is interesting...but yeah cheesy if it's a loophole to rewrite what they were originally planning!

It might've been a mistake to watch it AFTER Scandal because that show is on fire right now. Whew...great ep! lol

Blacklist--it's so funny how on the blacklist blogs I point out the cheese and it's like I must be a heretic--lol.

And those were my thoughts exactly---the Dr with Liz at the coffeeshop was ALL about buying the writers flexibility--lol.

Blacklist - I guess as long as they keep the show entertaining, a little cheese is fine. But it definitely feels like they're milking this whole FIRE thing. If they milk it the whole series, it could get pretty painful to watch!

Blacklist - finally caught up to it . agree with all you both said above. No reveals at all ! I'd even guessed the stupid stuffie had the Folcrom long before she found it. And I almost noever guess LOL. Yes - very convenient with the memories - cause we don't actually know which are rea and which are fake. Thogh hearing Folcrom makes me laugh every time (Chuck).

Carter - Been cracking up at the Fringe typewriter. Guess Fringe stole that from Marvel? Pretty good ep with the army gang back together. Those Russian trainees
were insane - as is the girl who came out of that class living next door. And finally the know what Peggy can do !

Grimm - I laughed at the fortune tellers scheme. Can't tell if Nick is suspicious of Juliette's weird explanations (pepper mill hitting her in the head) or just the way she is avoiding his touch. Probably both.

Walking Dead back ! Yay. Can't wait.

Saul - have ery low expectations for this show. But will check it out.

American Crime - was looking forward to this new show - think starts in March - as is from AHD guy. But then I read it will be about OJ trial. No thanks.

The Slap - zero interest in this one.

Secrets and Lies (I think the title) - will probably check out this one. Good cast.

Blacklist -- Agree with all the "cheese" comments. We, too, were giggling at the dramatic music with Red on the floor, and the name of "Fulcrum." So far, I'll keep watching if only to see Spader chewing up scenes. The less he is in the eps and the more Liz is, the weaker the program becomes. A lot like Juliette and Katrina in Grimm and Sleepy.
