WW - Don't worry Richard I actually watched last night! Don't have much time to chat right now but will later. One theory was certainly proved correct and in a crazy way. "What door?!" I think Ford is definitely making a host version of Theresa (is that her name?) Crazy stuff. Still not sure about the 2 timelines. I could see it 2 ways with the additional info on william. His future father-in-law owns the company/foundation. So either his future father in law is Ed Harris OR he still marries this girl in the past and possibly inherits the company and IS Ed Harris 30ish years later. I still see both potential plots unfolding. Or it could be some 3rd plot. This was the episode I was waiting for though. Lots of great stuff happening due to the time spent building up to it. Hopefully the momentum keeps up!

4 Way - You don't watch Legends ? I thought you did. Much better this year then last.

AHS - almost caught up - what a blood bath ! LOL Still have 1 more to watch - then the finale this week of course.

Blacklist - Liz got her baby back. Glad that is over. But my - there was so much lying going on I was losing track.Liz pretending to be mad at Red, then admitting she was mad, then still working with him and trusting him. LOL Still have a couple more to catch up on

Exorcist - know that no one else is watching. Really good show. They had a great twist and it is genuinely scary.

DC4Way - Nope, I actually had heard from multiple sources (including you) that it wasn't that great. lol Maybe that'll be a next summer binge. :) Guess I could start recording the series.

AHS - Sounds good...I'll wait to comment because I forget what happened when! lol

Black Mirror - Finished season 3! Was decent. I think I liked the pure British seasons better, but these were still really good. My favorite was probably San Juniepero (sp) which is probably a popular choice. But being done with Black Mirror means I'm back to.....

iZombie! - Started season 2 finally. :) I'm only 20 minutes into the first episode though so I'll comment more later.

Blacklist--Whos Your Daddy--LOL, they can't get over that. DNA testing is a good thing to do for one potential dad but not the other--lol. Of course the whisper between REd and Kerakirk can't be heard yet must be extremely valuable for Kerakirk to change his mind. Mr. Kaplan's storyline has been interesting so far.

WW---A great EP--glad you could catch it. I loved Hopkin's eyes, etc while Charlotte was talking and when he was talking to Theresa. You just KNEW because of his great acting that he was going to win! I'm so rooting for Ford now. The corporate people stealing what he knows and playing gods is a huge turnoff and natural target. I'm probably on an island rooting for the techie to keep his tech vs the corp--Dilbert comes to mind in a way--anyway even though Ford has done some bad stuff it seems justified. YES, I too thought of that robot in the chamber being made as a potential Theresa replacement. Makes me wonder how many have already been replaced when you recall the conversation at the hacienda. BTW, does Charlotte seem in any way legit as a board member? She's a joke--there must be a blood sacrifice--Clementine a robot? But yet she looks at the robots as just that, robots. So, how's a robot "death" a blood sacrifice--to me poorly written unless she was thinking about Theresa. Which honestly, when she said that in the bedroom, I was wondering about Theresa at the time. So, plans for the tech beyond the park--are we talking transcendence here--playing god.

I think Elsie is ok. I find it crazy that William can love a robot. There are many many efforts being made toward sex robots today. And the idea is just gross to me. And sex is one thing but to LOVE a robot as if a human has to somehow be a psychological problem. For sure a denial of reality. I can't imagine kids could come from it. The show has used the word hosts vs robot for a reason but I still view Maeve as just a fancy screwdriver--lol.

Also, the Maeve storyline continues to be hard to swallow when out of the park.

They're really really pushing hard for William to become MIB. Delores riding the horse and shooting reminded me of the show's opening.

MIB vs William--remember the first few eps when MIB interacted with Dolores? He didn't treat her well at all, grabbed her by the hair, etc. That doesn't make sense if they're the same given the last ep. I know lots can happen but so many writers on this seem to forget how badly he treated her as well as some serious issues in EP 3.

WW – I’m not so sure you’re on an island rooting for Ford. Granted, murdering someone is usually a pretty good indication of who the villain is, but people hate corporate suits just as much. This might be a Tony Soprano situation where you’re rooting for the psychopath as well as his creations. Or it could be multi-layered where there is no true protagonist a la Thrones. (Unless you count the Stark Family redemption as something to root for. I do!) That’s a good point…he probably has replaced a few other ones too. Charlotte as a board member – yeah tough pill to swallow. Though the actress has some street cred. If I’m not mistaken she was the love interest in Creed (I’m not, I looked it up to confirm). Loved that movie. I think they were going for mirroring with Ford’s blood sacrifice and corporate’s sacrifice. That’s why the used that wording.

I’m sure Elsie is okay too…if you don’t see a death, it means they’re still alive. But who has her? Ford? I think the point of William being in love with Dolores is how much he has fallen under the park’s spell. It’s more than just an amusement park to him now. You gotta look past the “grossness” of it to enjoy the character growth. You have to understand these hosts are AWAKENING and have feelings of their own. Basically, you have to suspend your disbelief to buy this world. Lol But, if William is truly the future Man in Black…then you can see how the years affected his attitude towards the hosts.

Dolores…did she ride a horse and shoot in the opening? I thought the opening was the first loop through the “park storyline” and ended with Man in Black killing Teddy?

I’m still perfectly fine with the Maeve storyline. They are clearly scared of what she can do. And the one guy may still be a host sympathizer.

Mike V. said...

WW - I actually covered your 2nd comment above when I said it would show the evolution of William's character over the years. He may have been in love with Dolores, but then something happened to change his affections for the hosts. Maybe Dolores eventually gets cycled and forgets all about William. And it drives him mad.

Anonymous said...

WW--the opening credits with the white robot horse and white girl riding matched what Dolores did last night. AND, several eps ago I said I bet that opening credit scene is Dolores, so I've been looking for it. The long hair is a match.

So, do you think Charlotte:?
1. Knew Ford would kill Theresa,
2. Worked with Ford to get rid of Theresa
3. Wasn't thinking about Theresa at all, but instead what happened with Clementine.
4. Some other alternative or combination of the above.

Richard

Anonymous said...

WW--did you know Dolores dreamed about the MIB in ep 3 while with TEddy?

Yea, I get how they could explain away William going from totally in love to what MIB is now. However, people who are normaly don't go from loving someone to abusing them.

Richard

Mike V. said...

WW - Ahh opening credits my bad. I only watched it the first couple times and have fast forwarded since. Only credits I actually sit through these days is Game of Thrones. Music and map changes get me pumped up for the episode. lol

I really have no opinion on Charlotte. I could see any of those options being plausible. lol But, I'm thinking it's #3 for now. At least that's what we're meant to think.

I don't remember Dolores' dream from ep 3 too clearly...but those first few episodes were shuffling storylines a little more....so there's no telling when she had that dream. lol

We're talking 30 years of him initially falling in love with the park and what it has to offer...including a self-aware host who seems to be in love with him. But we also know she's programmed to love Teddy too. I could see any number of things happening to make him evolve into a spiteful old man who treats the hosts for exactly what they are (that would be his attitude towards them...not my personal opinion). If the twist is revealed that there are 2 different timelines...I could see them carrying that on in future seasons showing how he turns into that man. But think about it....They're all in love and then somehow Teddy shows up and she changes gears...this angers him....then she eventually gets taken back into maintenance and has her memory wiped/reset. Meanwhile William leaves the park and wants to make more money to return to the park...he rises the corporate latter due to his father-in-law owning the company and frequently returns to the park...always seeking out Dolores and trying to gain her affection...but she keeps running into Teddy and being head over heels in love with him. Jealousy forms....he gets angrier and angrier over the years.....Until he finally starts HATING the hosts...or just treating them as a means to an end...he gets more invested in the park and what is possible in the park. he becomes a VIP attendee who is given carte blanche to do what he wants in the park. And then he recalls that map he saw 30 years ago....and thinks it leads to another level. He wants to get to that next level and dedicates his life to getting there.

give or take a few things....I could TOTALLY see that this is where the show is going.

TYPO - wow....corporate LATTER? LOL that would be ladder. :)

WW-I've covered my idea of transcendence and Arnold here before, even today. Thinking more on it and Delos there are at least 2 ways this could be played out
1. A robot body with human "mind" to allow for a practically eternal lifetime and a way to cure illness, aging, etc.
2. A robot body with enough human characteristics that it could immitate a powerful business or political person. Maybe a true humantransendence or some lesser degree. But regardless, with the intent of taking and controlling power. This is an obvious possibility if Ford can replace Theresa with a robot he controls. Maybe he's already doing what Delos wants to do?? Maybe he's that far ahead of the curve?

Maybe you should rewatch ep 3? Here's something from:
http://mashable.com/2016/11/13/westworld-recap-season-1-episode-7-bernard-host-robot/

"I was skeptical of all this early in the season, but it’s looking more and more likely. The main evidence against the two timelines theory remains the ending of episode 3, “The Stray,” in which Dolores first escaped her loop to fall into William’s willing arms. The events that led to her resisting her programming and shooting her attacker, the milk bandit, and running off — not to mention her hallucinations/remembrances of the Man in Black himself in that scene — suggest it all took place in the present. But who knows what else might happen before Westworld Season 1 has concluded to change our perspective?"

With this show, anything is possible and if they go the timeline route of obfuscation then I'm goig to be a LOT, LOT, LOT less interested to watch. Anyway, one key thing occured to me as I'm writing and thinking about the robots and consciousness.

What if Ford is a robot--with his finger control I've long wondered about that. But now, how about the possibility that Arnold has some degree of residence within Ford? That would be a crazy twist!

Richard

Mike V. said...

WW - We both have discussed transcendence with Ford. Some are theorizing it might even be Bernard. I don't know about it unless he's hidden deep in there.

Both ideas you put on the table seem plausible and might both be argued in the show. I think we're inevitably going there with human existence transitioning over to a host. Makes sense. Perhaps it's even what MIB is seeking. But he had mentioned 2 episodes back that he wanted to reach the level where the life/death stakes were real. Becoming a host kind of eliminates that....oooh wait...if he already is a host maybe he's tired of living on endlessly. lol

Yeah I should rewatch the dream from ep 3...Not sure if I'll watch the whole thing again though. That does seem to suggest it's 1 timeline. And I wouldn't be disappointed if it is. But I could certainly see the potential with 2 timelines as well.

Interesting idea of Arnold in Ford. I guess it's possible. I wouldn't put it past a human ford looking to replicate what Arnold did by moving his consciousness into a host/computer. That might be his end game to live on.

Like you said...anything is possible. There are so many directions they could go.

WW--interesting you brought up the GoT parallals re protagonist and hero you root for. That's actually a good point. As you know, I root for Jaime and his redemption. There are others too but none of the ones that are put forth like Dany or Rob Stark(probably just the actor vs character for him). Tyrion is one I like. There are many I like but aren't necessarily protagonists, for example Tywin--the actor made him compelling to watch.

If you compare GoT to WW each gives us a small glimpse based on those first seasons. And the protagonists of the unfolded story are not those who originally established themselves.

Obviously Eddard was key in the beginning and a comparable character is painfully absent from WW. I keep thinking someone will step forward and fill that spot. Maybe she is currently. I keep thinking about the casting of WW and it seems Dolores and/or Ted are meant to be the ones we are to root for since outside of Ford and MIB, they're the big named actors and they're younger which most shows push the youth. We've had more time with Dolores and she's on a quest--I believe people are rooting for her for lots of reasons. At this point I would ID her as the main protagonist. Especially given the opening of every ep with the girl riding the horse. How can an audience not root for her while she's on a quest for truth--lol. Maybe I'm missing something?

Richard

Mike V. said...

WW - Yeah Jaime's redemption is another story within the massive epic to root for. It's more on a character by character basis. There are no PERFECT people in Westeros but over the course of the story you see certain characters from certain families becoming aware of greater causes.

But yeah there's no overarching protagonist and antagonist unless you're going for the big battle of Ice vs. Fire. Maybe the Night's King / WINTER is the antagonist in the largest sense.

But, I've always seen the Stark Family as the one classic family you want to root for throughout the story. Granted...they've all taken interesting paths...and Arya's killing spree is certainly questionable. But it's never made me want to root against her. She's actually one of my favorite characters just due to what she's had to live through. (book and show...though this past season was a hit/miss on the show) But yes..obviously I'm a fan of Tyrion and Jaime. Jon Snow is following your classic hero's journey too. So they're there but there are just so many stories to follow that it's tough to point out a main protagonist/antagonist. It's an ensemble show...and so is Westworld.

But yes good point. Ford may look like the bad guy in the short run but could end up being the guy you're rooting for in the end. Kind of like Ben Linus in LOST too. (There are so many examples in LOST. Jin, Sawyer, Miles, etc... Jaime Lannister applies to this arc too)

Yeah...I think Dolores is meant to be the face of this show. The show opened up when her eyes opened up. (Similar to Jack Shephard on LOST opening his eyes in the pilot episode) But William kind of plays that traditional hero role too WITHIN the world. We don't know his long running arc yet and if it's tied into bigger things within the eventual mythology. I don't think you're missing anything.

But like we both have said...it's probably going to evolve as we keep going. And I'm fine with that!

Mike V. said...

WW - Renewed for a 2nd season but might get pushed to 2018. Article references its success in comparison to GoT and True Detective 1st seasons. It's doing well. But they cite costly and lengthy production which may delay the 2nd season's premiere. Hmmm....another 10 episode per season show that discusses the complexity of producing the show! lol

WW--SERIIOUSLY--2018! You know I don't like this 10 ep per season and now it will average less than that. And citing production yada yada, etc just starts turning me off--lol. How long do they expect Hopkins to be performing btw, into his 90s---lol. I think there are 3 eps left this season. By 2018 what if something else comes along and gives it some strong competition. I heard they are planning for this to pick up from GoT for HBO. So, maybe 2018 has something to do with timing re GoT as well.

LOL, in the meantime MJ doesn't care.

Richard

MJ said...

WW - LOL - No I do not ! ;-D I gave it up - and now glad I did. But hey - Glad Insecure got renewed.

AHS - I watched 2 back to back so am not sure what happened in which. Saw the one with the whole production crew dying, Actress playing butcher died - getting killed by the real butcher. Matt does GaGa again, and Shelby loses it and kills Matt. LOL I was floored by that one. Lee was fileted (?sp?) . And Shelby slits her own throat? WHAT ? Did not see that coming. But the head bashing totally brought me back to the horror of TWD ! Ugh. It was a blood bath worthy of the end of Cabin in the Woods ! Loved it. So who is left ? Angela Bassett and the Brit accent one ?

MJ said...

Lost - forgot to say - excellent Lost reference made. They are searching the ship for what was until then an unknown room when they find a metal door. One says should we open it ? The other goes - didn't we learn from Lost never to just open an unknown hatch ? LOL Too funny. Don't agree - opening that hatch gave us Desmond after all - but I was amused.

Mike V. said...

WW - There are 3 left this season yes. They're talking about moving it months not YEARS. And they'd be in production all year so it's not like Hopkins wouldn't be working. We don't know how long Anthony Hopkins is meant to be on the show either. Obviously, he's a great asset but it's also risky for a long term project!

It could have something to do with when GOT is airing. That's a good point. Well...maybe not. They're starting later in the summer and will air 7 episodes. So say it starts in august. It would be done by end of September (maybe October).

I'm totally fine with shorter seasons btw. It's becoming a more normal thing to do.

I just don't understand the logic of wanting to rush a quality product. While immediate numbers are gratifying...these networks are in it for the long haul in building their catalogs and making people want to subscribe to their streaming options and access those catalogs. If people are talking 5 years from now saying..."DUUUUUUDE!!! (or whatever the lingo of that day would be) you SO have to check out Westworld. It starts off slow but it gets SOOOOO GOOD. BEST TV SHOW OF OUR TIME!!!!" People might check that out like so many found The Wire after its airing. That's just the nature of how these things work. There were years in between a couple Sopranos seasons. Sure that was contract negotiations but they weren't rushing that amazing product either. And you know what? The audiences always came back for Sopranos.

I always come back to this EVENT television concept. If something is good, people will wait for it and the momentum will only rise. And since season 1 is available on their streaming platform more people can watch before season 2 airs. Your argument is valid that something great may come on while it is off the air and it may not get its viewership back. But..that's where I say the overnight numbers don't matter as much. Since they're looking for a Game of Thrones replacement...they matter a little more than usual. That much is true. But, I don't think this show will suffer in ratings from a couple month delay from the expected. If it does...write this date down and search for this comment when it returns!

I'll comment on other stuff in next post. lol

Mike V. said...

AHS - Ahh yeah that was all crazy stuff!! But was that even GAGA the 2nd time around? Wouldn't Gaga have been the actress in the 1st half of the season? I think those 2 are left yes....and the woman from True Blood...the actual sister that basset played. And the guy that showed up at the door. (I sure hope you're up to the episode I'm thinking you are lol)

Lost reference - I totally didn't catch that! Crazy treadmill is too loud! lol But I would have to agree with you. Desmond was the best thing to happen to that show!

In closing....PIVOT!!!

MJ said...

AHS - yes - I am up to that. LOL Forgot the other woman who played Lee (Bassett) too. I didn't figure out who that was at the door.

Lost - oops - forgot to say that the reference was on Legends - which you don't watch. but it was awesome.

Friends - too funny. I do once in a while sing Smelly Cat.

Anonymous said...

AFtermath--anybody watching?

Richard

Mike V. said...

AHS - No way to figure out who was at the door except I think the actor was in the last season. I forget. You'll find out soon enough. lol

LOST - AHHHH gotcha!

Aftermath - No, sorry Richard. I'm not even sure I've heard of it or if I did what it's about. lol

Mars - I recorded it and watched first 2 minutes. Had to go to work. :)

Supergirl - We're tackling the tough issues on this show!!

Gotham - We're tackling the tough issues on this show!!

Note: Just thought it was pretty funny that BOTH of these shows have a main character gripping with their sexuality. Granted it's turning one into more of a murdering psychopath and the other one is Supergirl's step-sister!

Westworld - Apparently in addition to 2 timeline theories there's a theory of a 3rd timeline. The scenes where Bernard is talking to Dolores....If Bernard ends up being Arnold...then the theory is this is Arnold originally talking to Dolores. Then William is young man in black. and man in black is old William. lol

Apparently Ford showed an old picture to Bernard and there was a person missing in the photo. Some people think this is Arnold and Bernard couldn't see it because he can't see things that would "bring harm to him or awaken him".

All interesting speculation. Since the Bernard thing came true, I guess we have to give these theorists some credit. lol

Anonymous said...

WW--I have wondered about Arnold being part of Bernard for a while now and could see Bernard/Arnold talking to Dolores. It being another time line, I hope not--lol

Richard

Mike V. said...

WW - Yeah I think the theory is that HOST Bernard may have been made in ACTUAL Arnold's likeness. So the 3rd timeline would be ACTUAL Arnold talking to Dolores in the past. But yeah I've been wondering about Arnold being part of Bernard as well. At this point it has to be someone we've already been introduced to right? Unless we have a Jacob/original MIB situation where they get introduced at the end of season 5. lol (even though smokey was in the pilot episode so technically so was MIB)

Mike V. said...

WW - Anagram news! Apparently this stuff has been out there for a month or so, but I just heard about it on a podcast I listen to. Good ol' Reddit. I subscribe to the west world subreddit but I don't frequent it too often.

So Bernard's full name is Bernard Lowe. The letters for Arnold are in the name as well as letters that spell out Weber. So if Arnold's last name was Weber then this would be too coincidental to not consider almost true. Bernard Lowe = Arnold Weber

Now to go even further...Dolores Abernathy is an anagram for Arnold Base Theory. There might be something to that too.

Here's the discussion on it if you're interested

This is Us--So, I thought the problem Kevin had with Randall was his Mom's favoritism from the pool ep. Great that they worked it out and the basement stuff was funny. The washing machine thing was funny too. My wife said there's zero reason for Randall's wife to say anything about Rebekah knowing about William when Randall was young. I agree since William is not long for this world and it only serves to create drama. Adding extra drama won't help anyone.

Richard

Mike V. said...

This is Us - True, but then she's withholding information from her husband and has to live with that stress. Granted, the greater good might be to keep the stress from Randall, but I dunno. It's a tough spot. But yes...it will be built up for drama and Randall will definitely find out. Another good episode. The way the episode kicked off I thought for sure we'd see that Jack was cheating on Rebecca (apologies for repeated times I called her Kate for a LOST reference when that was not true at all. but there still is a Kate lol).....But I guess we saw the seeds potentially being planted and that there is stress on their marriage.

Mars - Watched the first episode. I liked it. Nice way to tie real-life present day documentary stuff with a potentially realistic future drama. First thing I thought of when they landed in the wrong place was that they'd need to use the Mars Rover somehow to get to the site. Of course, it was a rover but it was a more recent one that they must've sent to the planet.

The Flash - Now there's another super villain? Forget the name but the God of Speed? lol And Alchemy....do we think it's going to be too obvious when they reveal it's Draco Malfoy? Surely they have a twist and it won't be that obvious.

iZombie - into episode 2 of S2. The girl working with Stephen Weber's character is Liv's new roommate. And Major has Spider Senses now. lol

WW--Anagrams--I've never put much credence into them but they are fun. 3 timelines--lol. That would be crazy and I think unfortunate for all the previously discussed reasons. Those discussions between Bernard and Dolores I took as background info that could either be real time or past. We know they pull the robots out for repairs all the time but particularly at night.

The way I'm recalling it we've had about 3 or so days so far. William's current run seems to be 3 days, maybe 4. I could count it up if I believed it very important--lol. Anyway, Dolores has been repaired at least once for sure we know of, probably more. One thing I'm not crazy about are these long term multi day narratives--no wonder they're expensive. But, they can also open up areas of confusion vs the original movie. Maeve seems to be on that same 3 or 4 day time period too--thinking back on her repairs.

Did you notice Charlotte saying the ENTIRE board is coming? That's a big deal I would think. I rewatched the scene between her and Theresa and there was something about the idea of a "blood sacrifice" being more than a robot. When Theresa looked back at the robot on the bed, Charlotte said nothing like that then looking directly at Theresa. Not 100% sure but rewatching after Theresa's murder the scene could be taken as a kind of warning.

SWars--Carrie Fisher had an afair with Harrison Ford. I'm not sure I'm surprised. But she was 19 and he was married and 33. Seems like she fell hard. I've never thought of her as great looking so in a way I don't get it for Ford on MANY levels. But eveidently it went on for a while during the second movie.

BTW, the latest SW movie is played all the time on my premium subscription on TV. I've never seen it a second time, nor have my kids--lol.

AFtermath has been worth the time given I can FF through the commercials. One crazy thing is that it stars James Tupper and his long time partner Anne Heche--they have kids together. They're husband and wife on the show. In some ways it's predictable but really no more than most other TV shows. And in the WAY it seems predictable it gives you some comfort that you can trust the show. The production quality is reasonable. If Event TV is a 9/10 I'd give it a 7/8. Anne is the star and she can get on your nerves since she's in probably 70% of the show.

Supergirl - Right ?!? Green on White hate. LOL And the coming out thing. I thought she could not get drunk ? or is that Flash ? And why would mama Luthor take an alien ? She hates the aliens I thought.

Blacklist - meant to say - how hysterical was Aram undercover ? Loved it

iZombie - That girl working with Weber is his daughter on the show. Kept waiting for Major to come over and see her.

Mars - taped and not watched.

Aftermath - started it and quit but my husband still watching. I think I left after the town where they were meeting the one daughter was blown up or something. Why is it crazy that Ann Heche and Tupper are both in it ?

Anonymous said...

Aftermath--It's unusual for a couple to start out in a show together after having a family, etc. I can't recall it happening before but am thinking it must have. Crazy isn't a good word to describe my thoughts, better with unusual. MJ, LOL your husband and I both watch Evil Dead and Aftermath--lol. Yea, towns and people keep dying out, it's kind of what happens during an appocalyspe/world ending event--lol. That's one of those comforting elements--lol.

Mars--I have it on DVR.

Blacklist--I've kind of forgotten the last ep--lol. Except that REd wins and we don't find out about Liz's father--again. They eliminated Kirk as Dad. Even though they tried to set up REd, it wasn't a solid set up. Oh and Mr. Kaplan is out and about--that whole storyline wasn't bad.

Richard

Anonymous said...

Blacklist--LOL on Mr. Kaplan--I mean once you get over the incredible unbelievable survival after being shot by Red--the story line wasn't bad.

Richard

Mike V. said...

SW - I read about it too. I thought it was during the filming of A New Hope in '77. I'm not surprised either but it is kinda crazy that it actually happened. And crazy that she published it. At least she gave Harrison a heads up. It would've made sense during Empire because their chemistry was amazing in that movie. But maybe there was tension from their affair in the first film. Crazy stuff. I have no comment on the morality of the situation or Carrie Fisher's attractiveness. lol But...many SW fans would beg to disagree with you during the original Star Wars era!

As for Force Awakens I saw it 4 or 5 times in the theater and a few times on Blu-ray/digital. Love it more every time I watch. My son still talks about it and can't wait for episode 8. My 2 year old daughter loves Rey, Finn and just yesterday was wearing a Kylo Ren mask for a good hour. lol

Supergirl - I thought the same thing with getting drunk...but it was definitely the Flash. The shows are so similar. I mean Cisco and the dude making the costumes on supergirl are the exact same character. lol LOL on green on white hate.

WW - I'll comment more in a bit. on a call.

Mike V. said...

WW – Yeah but when you can come up with Arnold in an anagram and there are strong theories towards Arnold being Bernard…it’s tough to dismiss it. Even Arnold being in Dolores’s name…choosing that specific spelling of her first name and making her last name Abernathy! Lol Even LOST used Anagrams in the show. Remember the infamous HOFFSDRAWLER Funeral Parlor in Jack’s first FlashForward? Anagram for Flash Forward. The clues were there!! Lol

I don’t think it would be unfortunate to clarify WHEN everything was happening. That’s the one thing that hasn’t been clear (And it seems intentionally) the entire season. Surely they’re being vague about it because there will be a reveal eventually. Now whether that’s a cheap trick to have a magical reveal when they could’ve been open about it since the beginning…I dunno. But it certainly has people talking.

The fact that Dolores is a prototype model in the park makes it especially interesting to show different time periods of the park….maybe to the early days vs. 30 years later. Come to think of it. If the park had been around for 30+ years….why would William’s friend be so excited to show him around the park as if it’s a novelty? It’s 30 years old! Surely William would’ve known about the park and the history behind it before going in those doors and would know a little more of what to expect. It makes me think even more it’s in the early days of the park vs. Man in Black being in present day in a more tired/established park where they’re looking to spice things up…add new storylines, Ford is looking to do something crazy…etc…

Maeve is definitely in the present day timeline (well her “awakening” is)....we witnessed her seeing her “friend” host “decommissioned”

Yeah…the more I thought about it…Charlotte knew that Theresa would be a blood sacrifice but was probably testing her limits with Ford. Like they know Ford is dangerous…but they’re going ahead with this anyway at whatever cost.

Supergirl - Cisco is a little more amusing - but they are giving Winn more personality now

Aftermath - did not know they are a couple. i still can't get over that you watch Evil Dead ! too funny. Is too campy for me

SW - yeah I saw that about the affair.

Colony - read comes back in January.

Timeless - so I thought they could not return to a place where they existed ? Surely Finn was alive in 1972 ? But alot of secrets got told in this episode. But I def saw it coming that her dad would be the Rittenhouse head guy. Also knew there was something up that the guys inthe past and rittenhouse kept saying 'doc' while our time travelers kept saying document. Creepy though when the Rittenhouse guy mentions Rufus' brothers lost b-ball game. Loved the call back when Rufus tells Lucy at the black panther bar to stand outside and not make eye contact. LOL. Only complaint - how'd then NOT get a list of the members from Doc before they let her leave ? just saying.

Sons of Anarchy - heard they are moving forward on the spin off. I loved SOA but have no interest in a show about the other biker gangs - BizLats and I don't remember the others. LOL

Saul - read that they are working on season 3. Can't wait for it, iZombie and Bates to come back.

Definitely watching Luke Cage over the thanksgiving weekend.

WW--On your last point, I think the board in some ways fear Ford.

Good point on the Dolores spelling, unusual. Also good point on William not knowing much about the park.

Richard

WW - Thanks...yeah I didn't really think about him not knowing much until I was just writing about it. Makes sense if the park is brand new. And it makes sense to educate the audience since we're brand new. but does it make sense if Westworld is a popular/dying attraction 30 years past when it was a novelty?

Supergirl - Cisco vs. Winn...yeah Cisco is definitely more amusing. But they basically serve the same role on the show...crack jokes, 3rd wheelish, design suite, come up with nicknames etc...lol

Colony - Never finished season 1! still have it recorded I think.

Timeless - 4 behind on this. Worth catching up?

Sons - UGH...I'm out! (I say that, but we'll see)

Saul - I really did love season 2 when I finally watched it. Looking forward to seeing how the show progresses. I like the idea of doing 3 seasons of Jimmy before he becomes saul...maybe 1 season in parallel with Breaking Bad era...and then 1 season AFTER breaking bad in the cinnabon phase. Could really be an interesting route to take. Of course...that season after mike wouldn't be able to be in it. But he already looks older than he did during breaking bad. lol Suspension of disbelief!

Luke Cage - Not sure if I mentioned I wrapped that one up. I'm sure I did. There's a preview for Iron Fist out there now. and then there will be THE DEFENDERS which is The Netflix Avengers (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Elektra and maybe someone else)

Mars--I didn't find the critics assessment very accurate. Why didn't they start off with it's like 2 distinct shows in 1. Too much overblown reaction about it being confusing or not knowing what it is. It's new and different and to me informative on one side and entertaining on the other. They're not mixing those 2 things in the same script with the same actors. There's 2 sets of scripts and actors if you will. It worked for me and I'm normally critical of new shows. IN the face time for the crew on Mars I thought they got across a lot about themselves. Interesting that they're talking about the rover being overloaded on Mars. Mars is about .38 of Earth so they should have been easily moving in the ship and ladders, etc. All 6 crew members with equipment should weigh about 1100 or so pounds on EARTH!--500 or so KGs on Earth and around 350 on Mars. 2,000KG is over 4000 pounds so that didn't go down well at all. Being OVER 2000KG beyond the rovers capacity is just nuts since it has to be able to hold some number of KGs!!!

Still liked it ok.

Mars - I didn't even see the critical response to it. I had read (thanks to MJ posting an article here) upfront what the show was so I got fully what I expected. Didn't really pick up on the metric system inaccuracies, but that's why we have you here Richard. :) lol

I was pleased with the first episode and will tune in again.

Designated--So, is the VP candidate being coerced with his kids being kidnapped? The FBI assistant director doesn't look like the guy you want to mess with. LOL on the coach being a double agent--I didn't see that coming but looking back on it things were going TOO smoothly. So, just get a DNA test and once it comes back go from there. REminds me of Blacklist.

Richard

Designated - Unfortunately didn't get to this last night. Maybe tonight. I did finally watch last week's though.

AHS - Interesting end to the show! It was a good season. I guess we confirmed the ghosts were real and that at least this universe, asylum and the circus season are all in the same universe!

Flash - hysterical - and unbelievable - that Iris knocked out Wally with one punch. Was I the only one who wanted to yell at Iris that she ISN'T part of them team and to stick to journalism? The show really needs to show her as a journalist. And for some spice she could be doing an expose on how the Flash just captures these metas and throws them in a cell. Just saying. I originally liked HR - but now he is annoying. I say send the faker home. And just to say - in the future we see Frost and Vibe fighting - it does no mean eiter one are bad. One could be under someones influence temporarily - or Cisco could be the bad one. It was very obvious that Malfoy was not around when they are going after Alchemy - hoping he now is not Alchemy. But I guess that Wally will now be a speedster. I liked Kid Speedster in the Flashpoint - hoping that this version of Wally isn't a dark speedster since he got turned by evil.

AHS - didn't see but have heard alot of disappointment. But a lot of people just didn't get this season in my opinion.

Timeless - tough to say. They def have gotten better the past couple of eps. And moved the whole what is Rittenhouse forward pretty well.

WW--a link to some things about Dolores and a show runner response on her paintings among other items

http://io9.gizmodo.com/new-footage-solves-one-mystery-of-how-westworlds-park-a-1789095775

From the inbedded link to WW. Very interesting about them owning what you leave behind--I read that as DNA. I did not enter my email, wouldn't ever and find it intrusive.

https://www.discoverwestworld.com/#

Like the map, I can't recall for sure, weren't Dolores and William looking at the canyons area, down south if you will?

Richard

Flash - No you weren't the only one. I was agreeing with Iris that she serves no purpose there! lol Agreed on HR. He doesn't really serve a purpose there too. Surely they could find a way to bring Earth 2 Wells back. Very true on Cisco's vibe on both scenarios. Yeah we'll see on Malfoy...but the fact that he's even there because Barry messed with the timeline makes it hard to explain anything other than he IS Alchemy. But it is way too obvious. Kid Flash is cool and agree hope he's not dark. Or that he tries to fight the darkness.

AHS - I dunno...endings are hard. I liked the effort in the ending...but this season was unique and I liked that it was 10 episodes. It dragged on so long because of the Christmas break before. This was perfect.

Timeless - Considering I don't even know what Rittenhouse is besides a square in Philadelphia....I may not have watched enough episodes yet! lol

WW - I did see about Jonathan Nolan trolling redditors by posting the video. I'll have to see what else he sais in your link. (I brought this up before but this showrunner is Christopher Nolan's brother for whatever that is worth. He also was the showrunner of Person of Interest, which I didn't watch past like 5 episodes but heard good things about)

I was on the official site back before or after the first episode, but looking now. Yes I think they were in the canyons. It's close on the map to Ghost Nation which they went through on the train.

BBT--has everybody noticed now Cuocos hair is longer now and they even made a thing of it on the show. ie, they agreed with me, she had lost some of her hotness with the short hair--lol. Of course my wife pointed out that she is wearing extensions also.

It is ironic that Sheldon is so smart and yet really hasn't had much success after having so much success early on kind of before the show. I'm wondering if toward the show's end if he will win a nobel or something. I kind of felt sorry for him last night.

Richard

Mike V. said...

BBT - I love that they called back to that awful haircut she had. lol Guess the whole world had the same opinion of it. I definitely noticed her hair had grown out because I couldn't stand the season when she cut it off. Maybe that makes me shallow, but whatever! I'm sure my wife would've pointed out the extensions too if I discussed the topic with her. lol

Sheldon's failures and his inability to enjoy his friends and coworkers' success is a constant source of hilarity for the show. But yeah, surely he'll have success in the end. It's not like he's doing horribly for himself.

Last night's show was funnier than the past few. Enjoyed it. remote control Hawking was ridiculous but funny too!

Timeless - LOL on square. Hmm - I thought they brought it up in the first or second ep. You probably just don't remember. Rufus (black guy from Ted) was forced to spy on his fellow travelers by taping them for 'Rittenhouse'. That was all we knew.

BBT - are we still at that point in society that we dissect how the actresses and their hair looks but not the guys ? They are not judged by their hair and style. I heard a commercial for the ep and one of them says 'Paper even beats rock' and I cracked up. Cause I always say that about Rock Paper Scissors. Never understood the order of that. Just saying. LOL

Mike V. said...

BBT - lol...no I exaggerated when I suggested I hated the season. I don't really remember the content of that season, but her performance was just as good as always. But the hair was distracting. And clearly, the show has now commented on it too. Even my wife commented how she hated the style. That made me feel safe in discussing it. :) Was that this episode with paper beating rock? Hmmm...I remember that comment just not from this week. It all blends together. lol

For the record, this isn't a "WOMEN BEING JUDGED" issue for me. I will fully be the first to admit I hated ROSS's hair in season 5 of Friends. It was a disaster, plus he was an emotional wreck which made his arc painful to watch. But at least they addressed his hair on the show too. (Chandler is always good for that) Of course....if it wasn't for his depression and that hair we wouldn't have the hilarity of his coworker eating his sandwich. lol

Googled "Ross Gellar Season 5 Hair" and this came up with a Grade of F lol

BBT--yea it was funnier and the paper/rock thing was funny. I was telling my wife he's going to drop that rock on his foot and so when we found out he did, it was a good laugh. Well, they commented on Howard's hair. So, yea when the girl on the show is portrayed as the hot babe that the geeks can't get--I think the hotness factor needs to be discussed--lol. An article was released today that I read about cosmetic surger too, so her hotness is something she's wanting to go after. I'm thumbs up--lol. SEriously, I"m laughing hard trying to have a good time on Friday afternoon.

BTW, the midshipman beat my golden hurricanes on Saturday. I'm very surprised how good they are this year.
