Gotham--I get it now--firebug--kind of stupid they didn't shoot and kill her. Crazy place with the monsters. Riddler kills his girlfriend, so sad. Suspect he'll go full on crazy now. When is Gordon going to get caught re Penguin and the murder? One thing this show does pretty well is show how criminals are all a little to a lot crazy. Pretty good when Bruce picked himself up after being knocked down. Poor Butch the punching bag. I would like to see him take a chainsaw to cut up Tabitha.

Supergirl - about what I expected - light and non-serious. Was surprised about the step sister and that she was working with some shadow group on the aliens. Still - like superman - you just have to expect that no one can recognize her when she is wearing glasses. LOL. Had quite the cast though - the guy sent to help her by Superman was on a show I watched for a few years about a shrink for a football team. And Ally McBeal of course. But i know the sister too - just don't know from where, as well as her boss. Also her mom/mom's evil twin is from a Matthew Perry show. Of course recognized the 'parents' who took her in. LOL My only issue is that her pod dragged a prison ship with her - and she was a teenish age when she landed and has presumably gone thru school and maybe college - so where have these prisoners been all this time ?

Quantico - sill liking it. Keeping it interesting.

Homeland - so is the station chief chick the one who put the hit on Carrie ? My husband thought that when the hit man got the call to go to the post office to kill Quinn he then put the phone in the glove box - the phone Carrie got and used came from his jacket. I'm not sure.

Limitless - liking this as well. Interesting little mythology but a light and fun show.

AHS - this is def one of the creepiest seasons. Have to laugh - read that the showrunner swore he would never do werewolves and vampires - so these people have 'blood diseases'. Cop out. LOL Second ep being 1 hr 40 min made it sit around on my DVR for awhile though. SIGH

Gotham - am behind. Not feeling this show any more. I mean - what are they doing ? They killed off Joker ? How is that possible. Try they never named him as Joker - but we all know he was.

Minority - dumped it

Heroes - am close to dumping it. Not feeling it so much. Husband likes it though

LImitless--One of the very few shows both my wife and I like. Bradley Cooper's motivations seem to be coming into play now making it more interesting. So far, no love interest between the guy and the girl with FBI. Actually that's a good thing for now.

Gotham - not firebug...FIRELFLY. It's a Bat villain. They can't kill her. Of course they changed it from a guy to a girl in this story. But I think this was her origin story. Yep Riddler is on the path to going nuts. But I think he's still going to be a slow burn to becoming the riddler. Don't know on Gordon/Penguin...but I'm sure it'll play out eventually. MJ, they didn't kill the joker...they misled the audience into us thinking he was the joker. But the joker that Batman faces eventually has not appeared yet. Jerome probably INSPIRED one or MANY people that will take on the name of Joker. It's just a twist on a story we always have known. I think this season has been better than season 1 actually. But it's something I watch on the treadmill so I'm not 100% invested when watching. lol Of course, that's pretty much the only time i can watch any TV these days so I guess it's the most invested I get in most things!

Supergirl - Watched the first 20 minutes (yep, on the treadmill)...not bad. I saw Dean Cain was her adoptive father...very similar to how Superman III's Lana Lang was Martha Kent on Smallville. I'll see if I have time to watch the rest or keep up with it.

Quantico - Hearing good things...missed the first 3 episodes but have recorded the next 2. Gotta watch them on ABC app before they disappear but have to convince the mrs to watch! It takes us all week to watch Sunday shows as it is!
Limitless - Also hearing good things and have them all recorded. Don't know when we'll fit it in!

Homeland - 2 behind...is it getting better?

AHS - Ryan Murphy said they're not vampires??? gimme a break. They're vampires. Lady Gaga is the COUNTESS! lol It's not that bad of a season actually. 1st episode I was ready to bail but I think it's definitely better than last season so far.

Minority - Getting ready to delete all episodes. Never watched one. But I saw the episode order was cut.

Heroes - Treadmill show...so entertaining enough. Might be slightly better than seasons 2-4, but not close to season 1's near perfection (minus finale)

Gotham--That's it, no wonder I didn't get firefly--LOL. I get tired of TV/Movie people changing characters to the point where they aren't really recognized. I am starting feel MJ here on the Joker. AGain on your statement of "Of course they changed it from a guy to a girl"--LOL. PC police are everywhere.

Gotham - Well once she had the suit on she looked just like Firefly. And I only know the character from the Arkham games (which are awesome!!). That's just the world we live in these days. Changing races, sexes and sexual orientations of all the characters we know. But, I guess in a time where superhero movies and TV shows are in overabundance and rebooting....you have to tell the stories from new angles to keep things different/interesting/unpredictable. How do you tell the Gotham story about characters we know without twisting things up a bit??

The showrunner...(Bruno? he did HBO's Rome too) had said in interviews last year that they're going to mess with people's perceptions because it's one tool they have in their arsenal. Joker was a perfect example of that.

I'm fine with it. I don't look at this show as the gold standard of the Batman mythos. It's just an entertaining story set in that world. Kind of like Once Upon a Time uses characters we all know but twists their stories and mixes them together in one big Fairytale/Legends/Myths/Disney Owned franchise melting pot. lol

Supergirl - and her adoptive mom was the original Supergirl !

Homeland - I'm liking it.

AHS - Ryan Murphy stated he would never 'do' vampires or werewolves. So these aren't. They have a blood disease - they don't bite their victims. Agree - like better than Freak Show.

Gotham - yeah - that's crap that he was not the Joker. Still say it hurts this show that they can never show the villians we know cause they Can't show Batman with them. A shame - cause I liked him as Joker. But will be glad to have him back on Shameless

Sundays - Some weeks I don't get caught up from Sundays. I also watch The Affair which no one watches here - have all 4 taped and have seen none.

Mike V. said...

Supergirl - ahhhhh duh!! lol

Homeland - Good to know. It couldn't even keep my attention the 1st couple episodes.

AHS - Oh I believe you that he said it...but I'm just saying...they're vampires! lol He can twist his words however he wants. Sure looked like they were biting their victims but maybe I'm imagining things.

Gotham - I don't know if that's true that they can't show the villains we know. We see Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler and Poison Ivy in their origin stories. We got the firefly origin story the past 2 episodes. Joker is the BIG origin story and they were moving way too quickly with it in my opinion if Jerome was going to be the actual Joker. Like you said, he can't be an INFAMOUS supervillain before Batman's time...I wouldn't think. Jerome was already getting notoriety in Gotham with his antics. We'll see what happens with the show if it gets more seasons. We know that Smallville eventually dipped into the pool of Superman villains and started bringing them to town early (i.e. before he was superman). They even had Doomsday on there.

It's true shows like Gotham and Shield are not serious to me at all. I actually laugh and so that's good.

BBT--I found last nights show very interesting with a kind of dichotomy of the character's locations/events. Most time spent at Howard's house. Kind of related to something we brought up last time.

Richard

Mike V. said...

BBT - Maybe that's why I found the episode pretty much UNinteresting. lol It couldn't keep my attention!

SHIELD - I'm sure you loved the ep Richard since it was 100% about Simmons. lol Once the man was introduced I knew they were introducing a new roadblock for Fitz and Simmons' potential relationship. (Not that it was a hard code to crack)

BBT--Nimoy's son to be on show!

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2015/10/28/leonard-nimoys-son-appear-big-bang-theory/74730152/

Haven't seen Shield yet. But, they set her up as a central theme on her needing to go back last week.

Richard

Mike V. said...

BBT - I saw that as well. Pretty cool of him to do that!

SHIELD - I know they did. And this episode explains why she needs to go back. I just thought you mentioned before she's not your favorite character/actress on the show. lol

MJ said...

AHS - yup - they are vampires. But on the show they cut then neck and then drink the blood. LOL Gaga uses her metal fingernail.

Shield - odd that this astronaut was living on that planet. Wasn't a bad ep - kinda like when we spent a whole episode with Beth and Daryl on TWD. Sometimes too much screen time is not a good thing. LOL

BBT - don't watch but did read about Nimoy's son being on.

Flash - hate that they are messing with the Victor Garber character just so he can leave and be on Justice League !

Mike V. said...

AHS - I did notice that more now that I'm aware they're trying to put a twist on traditional vampires. lol

SHIELD - Yeah, I suspect there's still something shady about that dude! He did kill all of his crew....but he said it was that "monster" in the smoke. Hmmm..smoke monster?? :)

Mike V. said...

SHIELD - Good point on too much screen time. Though, i never had a problem with Simmons! lol

Anonymous said...

Shield--You're right, she's not my fav. I watched the ep and FF through some of it. The astronaut stuff and the prior 1800s or so travelers were interesting especially since set up in prior eps. There will likely be more come of this than just saving Will.

BTW, on Shield I dislike bobby a whole LOT more. I used to like Mae, but she's getting on my nerves now. I used to not like Skye at all with that forced relationship, but she's improved to me.

simmons I've always had at a medium level.

Richard

Shield - i don't mind Simmons. I hated the story line with her and Fitz being all weird with eachother. But a whole episode of her could be a little much for some people. It was actually a very moving story.

Grimm - it's back this friday ! Yay!

Mike V. said...

SHIELD - Agree with most of what everyone said! Don't have much else to say about it. :)

Grimm - Yay!! Not sure where I'll be fitting everything in but I'll have to make room for this!

GofT - Speculation on the start date of season 6 based on the announcement of the shows that precede it. Looks like we might be looking at late April unfortunately. Good news, George has a little more time to get that book out! lol (Of course maybe that played into HBO's scheduling antics) http://www.ew.com/article/2015/10/29/game-thrones-season-6-premiere-date

Star Wars/LOST/etc... - JJ Abrams gets grilled by celebrities including George Lucas. Pretty funny stuff. But funnier that we witness JJ getting harassed about LOST even though he barely had anything to do with the show after the creation/pilot. Loved his last comment. lol

Blacklist was good. I still don't get how they're going to get her "cleared" Samar's right, she needs to pay for what she is guilty of.

GOT--I can't imagine any other reason than timing the S6 opener with GRRM's release of the book. Of course that may put them behind for S7. And maybe that's intentional.

It could also be a S-T-R-E-T-C-H play--lol.

I've always said, whatever you put your name on, you are going to have to responsible for.
Bad Robot--

Richard

Mike V. said...

GoT - You just never know. It can be a domino effect with HBO depending when other shows start and end that are in the same time slot. But yeah...I wouldn't put anything past GRRM and the powers that be! Even D&D asking for more time. Or it's simply that that's how the schedule worked out.

lol....that's all well and good with JJ but in reality he wasn't involved with the day to day operations of the show. And people don't understand that when his name is attached. I'm sure he doesn't care. Directing the pilot means he got a lot of money for that show! Not to mention being a co-creator.

Anonymous said...

GoT--I have said over and over that I don't like these long breaks between seasons and I"m not alone. Starting in late April means I won't be as actively watching since it will run into the summer at a time when I'll be getting busy.

I'm sure the show will be fine, especially with the release of TWOW. But, there is opportunity cost that will be evident.

Richard

Mike V. said...

GoT - I know you've said it. For me it's still event TV whenever it airs. I'll find time to watch.

I don't think any networks are AS concerned about overnight ratings as much in this new era of binge watching/streaming. They will be adding 10 more episodes to their library that will be accessible for the foreseeable future. And coming off an Emmy win, I would be very surprised if we don't see ratings growth again for the show in season 6.

MJ posted on last week's discussion thread! Here it is:

"Sleepy - the crossover with Bones was better then expected. Loved the zombir army.

Flash - benn good these last few weeks. Like the new Iris - more involved. And now another clueless one to take Iris's place - Patty Spivey so far has some chemistry with Barry - cause they are REALLY highlighting that. LOL Going to miss Stein when he leaves - I really like him and Victor Garber who plays him. the guy who is replacing Ronny was ok too. Loved how Caitlin automatically assumed the brainy one would be best. Only thing - It feels weird that Caitlin seems so into Jay Garrick since she just lost her husband a few months ago. Just saying. And I've heard that Iris uncovering this half-brother is supposed to be something - but i don't know what.

LOL on me calling Sleepy Flash. "

Bones/Sleepy - I'm almost through the Bones episode, but didn't get to Sleepy. The extra hour of television threw my schedule off!! Add Grimm to it now and I'm really gonna be messed up! lol
