Ian McShane is also in Ray Donovan. He's a powerful actor.

LOL on what FNL is about.

Ship--It looks like now that the show is settling in for a few more seasons with the POTUS onboard in more ways than one. MJ, so what's up with the sub, not sure I could understand the terms correctly? I'm not really buying how much power these immunes have though. It's as if what was established in Norfolk and elsewhere doesn't matter. But, there has to be a villian and they've been searching for one for a while now.

Ian McShane - Best known for Al Swearengen on Deadwood. He's awesome. Lot of people are speculating he'll be RT....i.e. ST's father. But it could be someone not even in the books.

Humans - Anyone still watching this? It's been pretty good! Not bad for a show that was supposed to be exclusive to XBOXes. lol

The 100 - Almost done season 1. Still pretty good. I'll have to see if I can be patient enough for season 2 where I don't have to pay extra for it. lol

Wet Hot American Summer (Netflix) - Saw the movie ages ago as I was a huge fan of MTV's THE STATE. Lots of the same players including writer/director plus a load of stars before they were stars. Now Netflix has created an 8 episode series with all of the stars returning. My wife and I are watching the movie and then will boot up the series. All on Netflix!

Last Ship - a little comical how they got the President on board with them - but I'll go with it. What do you mean what is up with the sub ? They'd gone silent to make some repairs. Interesting the Immunes chose New Orleans since they feel protected by the sea walls re-done after katrina.

Humans - yes - it's been very good. Already got a second season call. Have to admit I was taken aback by the reveal of who else is a robot (don't know if you are up to date) as I did not see that coming.

Wet Hot - never heard of it til recent weeks. Have the movie and new show queued up but not yet watched. Looks like totally dumb humor - but such a great cast I want to look at it.

OITNB - finally got anoter 4 watched. This season ok so far - nothing exciting. Prepon's paranoia over who is in there to get to her is amusing. Just finished with the whole business plan to sell used undies to the weirdos out there. LOL Odd that Lori Petty did not first recognize Piper then later was all like remember this and remember that. Also the Kosher meals fun. Last one I saw was red just got the kitchen back - and then found out she won't be doing any cooking.

Sex Drugs - watched the pilot - very funny. Leary def on his game. Didn't realize that 'Slash' (guy from Northern Exposure and Sex In the City was in it as well.

Anonymous said...

Ship--Yes, they said what needed to be repaired and it didn't seem to make sense given it was just attacking and we didn't see anything happen to it.

Humans--I quit watching after the husband and robot had sex then the wife got upset he was cheating on her. Something like that. So, is having sex with a robot cheating--lol?? This show reminds me of Blade Runner a lot (except with too much drama-imho). Robots so much like humans that they are almost impossible to detect, etc. Someone's going to be a "Rachael" of some type.

Ian as RT is kind of what I'm thinking. I think he has a Valaryan sword too.

Humans - Saw the 2nd season renewal. I'm up to date. I kind of had suspicions about the creator's son being one but would've never guessed that he was human before and then consciousness was carried on as a synthetic. And the episode where the cop partner was revealed...I was starting to get a BSG vibe thinking like "you know what? I'll bet some people we assume are humans might be synthetics too lol). Yep..Richard...knowing where you stand on some issues that sounds about like your breaking point with any TV show. lol I still stand by that "DRAMA" as you call it is what makes any TV show premise worth watching. Investment in characters is important.

Wet Hot - Incredibly dumb humor. The State was the same way. But sometimes it's so dumb it's funny. lol The whole concept of Wet Hot is they're all too old to be playing the ages they're playing. In the movie they're supposed to be teenagers (like 18) at the end of camp but they're clearly in their 20s/30s. In the TV series they're supposed to be even younger and now they're 14 years older than they were the last time. lol One guy I totally thought looked familiar and couldn't place him. It's Aaron from Revolution.

OITNB - Yeah...season was decent. We enjoyed it enough to keep plowing through but now that we're done I wouldn't remember it unless I read your update you just provided! lol

Sex Drugs - I think we've watched 2 so far. Yeah I didn't know Aidan Quinn was in it either. He's pretty funny in it too.

Sopranos Rewatch - We're 2 eps into season 3! Shanna was very excited when Jackie Aprile got whacked by Janice in s2. lol Ralphy (Raphie?) just entered the picture in s3.

GofT - Yep, I believe he does.

MJ said...

Robot - Ugh ! They killed Shayla ! I liked Shayla. Not surprised Vera had his brother killed right on the spot though.

Sopranos - OMG - Crazy Janice. Forgot about her. Hmm - not remembering Ralphie. Only story I never liked was Carmella and the guy who came over from Italy. And the finale of course. ;-D Worst ever !

Humans - yeah it was the cop that surprised me. And yes - sex with a Robot that cleans your house and takes care of your kids is definitly cheating. Sexting is being unfaitful too ! ;-D i definitely think Anita really still does have some of the other Synth (? Mia?) in her. The beat a synth fight club was interesting.

Mike V. said...

Robot - I know, I wasn't happy about it either with Shayla. Agreed on Vera's brother.

Sopranos - Ralphie was Joey Pantiliano (cypher from The Matrix among other things)...you probably remember him from the guy that Tony killed in S4 (worst season) and then he and Christopher put his head in a bowling bag. lol I think the Furio story is in season 3. Maybe it's s4...it really was a bad season! lol

Humans - Oh crap, doesn't sound like you're caught up to me! Sorry if I spoiled anything! lol There was an ep that aired last night that I watched this morning. Sounds like it's the only episode Richard hasn't watched too. lol

LOL on cheating MJ.

I'm good with drama as long as it's a natural unforced consequence based on somewhat close to normal events. I detest overboard yelling like from say some reality TV show superstar wannabe. I watch TV to be entertained. I get enough drama from work dealing with high level egos. So, to watch TV to aid in escaping some work related drama just helps. For example, I didn't find LOST being overly dramatized. Lots of shows can have excellent character development without being hugely dramatized. WP I thought did a good job. BTW, I did not realize how many of my friends watched WP and liked it.

I watch Ray Donovan and it's pretty good. Has some drama, but hey they've got Irish tempers--lol. I can say that since my wife is mostly Irish. One thing I really like about Liev Shrieber is how he can be so commanding and yet not say much. That's some good drama--lol. HIm working with Ian McShain is really good and actually I don't see Ian outshining Liev at all, pretty equal. And Katie HOlmes is doing a great job.

Maybe another way to say it is this. I don't like high maintenance types, neither at work nor in entertainment. They can eat up an organization.

Richard

robots--I haven't seen it. But was wondering. Funny how you related it to BSG and I to Blade Runner. I guess that's because Rachael was effectively a replicant that Harrison Ford had sex with(I can't belive I"m saying that, but seriously Sean Young looked amazing) and eventually went on to spend his life with. AFTER spending a lifetime chasing and killing replicants. No one thought she was a replicant except Ford and that was after a lengthy investigation. She actually bled, cried, had emotions, etc. Rutguer Hauer also did a great job bringing the audience in to understand the replicants better.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Understood. I'm usually not up for Reality Show dramatics either. But I don't think that's what we were discussing here. So you don't think introducing synthetic humans to our society would introduce the adultery issues that were presented on the show? If so, you have a lot of faith in humanity! lol

The 1st thing I assumed the show would cover was something very similar to what they eventually did the minute they purchased an attractive female synthetic and brought her into their house. It would ABSOLUTELY be a debate that a husband, wife and society would have to what is considered cheating and "too far" lol

BTW...You need to go back and watch LOST and count how many times Jack Shephard cried on that show! LOL It became on ongoing joke for many of the fans. I think one comedic blogger called them "JEARS" for "jack tears" lol

I think you're right that for the most part LOST did a good integration of the craziness and the dramatics and it's why it's one of the best hour long DRAMAS of all time! (I still will use that word, because it is the category it falls into)

Good to see ol' Joey Potter (i.e. Katie Holmes) is still getting some work even after her Tom Cruise marriage debacle. lol

Mike V. said...

Blade Runner - I saw it so long ago...really need to watch it again. But yeah, both seem to apply as comparisons!

Mike V. said...

Got - Max Von sydow cast as 3 eyes raven. Nice. He's gonna be in Star Wars 7 too. http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/03/game-thrones-max-von-sydow

Anonymous said...

Humans--I started to write what I think about some things related to cheating with a robot but it's probably not worth it. I view the robot thing kind of like a blow up doll. I'm sure some nuts/fruitcakes have done it, but it just doesn't make sense for a normal guy. Which doesn't align with what the show is trying to present. Her skin was fake skin.

BTW, personally,I think anytime a guy substitutes things for his wife is cheating. So, I'm probably not just old fashioned, but ancient fashioned.

Richard

Anonymous said...

Sydow was also in Dune. He's got a great voice.

Strain--some backstory stuff coming out.

Ricahrd

Mike V. said...

Humans - no I don't think you're old fashioned but I think that's how a cheating man would try to justify what he did. Lol I think the whole point of these synthetics though are that they're essentially human except for their ability to have human emotions. Then there are the new type that can that you can't even distinguish.

So yes a fancy blow up doll (which yes I'm sure would still cause issues in a marriage) but you have to imagine this would cause much more trauma based on the realistic nature of it.

I really don't feel like getting into this debate either, but I still think the scenario isn't far off from something that might actually happen which was the point of our discussion anyway.

Mike V. said...

Yeah sydow was in dune and lots of stuff. I just brought up sw because he's making the nerd rounds again lol

This article came up today on robots and sex re "Humans", etc. Very timely. Let me say, this is junk on so many levels but brings up the various points. A robot doesn't have a soul you can connect with. For some that may be OK, don't know. I"m sure someone will have a robot cry and show sadness at some point, but that's not a soul.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/sex-robots-the-norm-50-6190575

BTW, Mike and MIKE had an interesting discussion on thematic type stuff today. And little mike with his Northwestern degree basically agreed that what you get out of a show, book or story has a lot to do with what you bring into it based upon your experiences, etc. So, hard to say someone is wrong when they offer their viewpoint on something and back it up with some reasoning. That was their point on some stories lately.

Richard

MJ said...

Lost - thought i was always Kate crying LOL

Humans - you did not spoil anything

Robots/Sex - not about a soul to me. It's about you betraying the person you supposedly love most in the world. You chose a thing that looks like a hot human - so you wanted to have sex with that.

In a hurry today - will ead rest of comments later

Mike V. said...

Humans - Interesting article Richard! And kind of crazy to think that reality is not far away. There actually is an episode of Black Mirror that is a lot like this concept too. Don't want to spoil too much about it in case anyone is still going to watch it. That's where my thought process was MJ....it would affect the partner the same way as if they cheated with another human being. But the guilty partner...of course they'd try to justify it as not being real. It just seemed like a realistic scenario based on the fictitious (for now) environment. lol

LOST - Very true as well!

Speaking of...just got my full copy of the soon to be published LOST guide! Excited to check it out! :)

Humans - synth cop seems to love that other cop - which does not seem possible. And the other group of 5 and the guy who helped create them keep referencing that they all have to get together for something - but they don't include that cop ? Karen might be her name - not sure though. LOL Not surprised Fred was not 'dead' but was surprised he hurt/killed to get away from that guy - to date I think only Niska had shown violence. Did not see it coming that Mia/Anita was Leo's mother/caregiver - as were all the other synths. Doubting that Max is really dead/not functional any longer.

Strain - creepy scene with the vamps getting all the Financial big wigs. Zach's mom's new army is just creepy, as is her fondness for them. The infected vamps jumping for suicide was also pretty gnarly - and I don't know why Eph and Nora are still happy with their virus - Master is just going to keep making them kill themselves.

Sopranos - oh yeah - now I remember Ralphie.

GoT - wow - Max Von Sydow !

Lost - very exciting !!! Can't wait to check it out.

Mike V. said...

LOST Book - I scanned through it. My finale post was featured in the Finale section of the book. And then my recaps are in the Episode guide in the back for a lot of episodes (not all). They split it up as "Immediate reactions" to an episode (where I fell) and then some Analysis posts. They also indicate how many comments were attached to the recap and a link. So you guys get some publicity too! lol

Comment on more in a bit.

Mike V. said...

Humans - I think they're going above and beyond to show that these special synths are able to have feelings. But of course William Hurt's character still can find the robot in them. But yeah, she does seem to love the cop. Yikes not sure how you remember all of these names! Was Fred the one they tried to operate on? Is Max the one that jumped in the river? I'll have to IMDB the names. lol

GoT - I didn't even bring up one of his biggest roles....Emperor Ming in Flash Gordon! lol

Strain - Way behind on this one, but I just started the pilot. Not bad so far. Didn't realize it was an hour and 40 minutes when I started it this morning! So still have like 30 minutes left. lol Recognized Nora and had to look her up. She was Sydney's sister on Alias. Obviously, I recognize Corey Stoll/Eph. He's one of the Hollywood "IT" guys right now and in everything. Which reminds me...ANTMAN was awesome!

Anonymous said...

Strain--Eph and Nora--I think they're excited because they have a new/different way of fighting them and it spreads. Yea, the master can keep them from spreading too but it's still effective in killing some of them. My questions are about the Prof and him being infected. This cure could kill him. And why is he infected and yet fighting the master?

Humans--there have always been stories about robots taking over and/or living with humans to various levels in various ways. Such as with Terminator and direct warfare. Such as with Blade Runner, kind of accidentally and not at all completely--more like coexisting. BSG a little bit of both. With Humans it seems to be kind of like Blade Runner--perhaps accidental looking for acceptance more than conquering with the robot builder constructing a masterpiece that can't be detected. And having feelings. Where the robots aren't out to kill every human. They are more on a quest. Which in BSG that part came out later, but it was not central for the entire series. Rachael and #6 were of course written and portrayed to be indistinguishable from humans. And had serious relationships with humans.

One key threshold is how/if Humans and synths will be able to procreate with sex. Transcendence the movie was kind of getting into this and is very much a part of this genre with different perspectives/modalities. Melding AI and DNA/cells. Lucy is another movie which does it differently yet again. I won't discuss it since you guys may not want to be spoiled.

BTW, does anybody watch Archer? If so, his old girlfriend-Katya-now a robot comes to mind.

http://archer.wikia.com/wiki/Katya_Kazanova

Richard

Mike V. said...

Humans - Yep lots of stories and different angles. "HER" is another one that was referenced in the article you referenced. Those were certainly AI's on a quest. And once again it was about humans looking for artificial companionship. (for good or bad or indifference lol)

Apparently Ex Machina is very similar to Humans as I've heard the 2 being brought up in conversation together. That movie was recently released on video. I see it on iTunes/Apple TV all of the time but have not rented/purchased/watched.

I don't watch Archer but I've heard good things.

LOST - Thanks for the congrats! I guess even if it's not a profitable venture, at least I can say I'm a published author. lol

MJ said...

Flash Gordon - And you admit to watching that ? LOL

Humans - yeah Max in ocean. Fred was thought o be dead but was just turned on and put his hand thru the door to take out the guard

Antman - figured you'd see it. Prob wait til HBO or SHowtime or Red box

Lost - besides the outriggers you were totally obsessed with some woman - was it Ben's wife maybe ?

Mike V. said...

Flash Gordon - Who wouldn't??? lol It was awesome! Soundtrack by Queen? Doesn't get much better.

Humans - Ahhh ok. Thanks!

Antman - Still need to see MI5...mother-in-law is in town so maybe we'll have chance!

LOST - Ben's friend Annie. I said that she might be Sarah (Jack's ex wife) lol There were those weird moments in season 3 where they were saying all of these people looked alike. I dunno...it sounded like a good theory! lol

Anonymous said...

Humans--Here's another robot love story with Melanie Griffith. I liked how this one ended as the guy ends up with the real girl and all her human flaws vs the perfect synthetic which he spent most of the movie pursuing. He had to gain confidence in himself, etc, etc.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherry_2000

One big reason I didn't buy into how the Humans show had the sex scene occur was what happened right before. I mean he was working on her with her blue robot fluid and fake skin with a repair patch. That is not at all sexy, very mechanical as a matter of fact. VS in other robot/human love scenes there is a build up of how human the girl seems, almost indistinguishable. So, in Humans' case it was the opposite which doesn't make sense when you think about it. Ergo, why I liken it to a blow up doll vs a more traditional scifi human/robot love scene. Anita due to her being so crudely a robot in this ep was not comparable with #6 or Rachael. The later 2 being more grown than built.

So, William Hurt is dead now, right? And they want to distribute the consciousness program?

ARcher is crass many times, but can be very funny.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Humans - Good points. Though, in later episodes her "human" side comes out which makes his family resent him even more because of the way he viewed her. And this HUMAN version of her remembers all past interactions as Anita. So it could lead to some "good drama" :-) lol

Um....if he's dead I missed it!

Anonymous said...

I didn't see the last few eps of Humans and they are not on OnDemand with ATT. I have found Charter to have a LOT better OnDemand btw.

I got he was dead from reading something. Only 8 eps.

I get that they make her seem more human like later. But, that is more the behavior. She didn't change her robot body which is what the sex stuff is about--lol.

I think the grow vs build androids is significant in scifi. I seem to recall that in BSG one of the cylons got pregnant, but I can't be sure.

Richard

Anonymous said...

Robots--I am beginning to think the show is in general about everyone having some level of insanity. The last two eps have had women killed by some crazy guys. And yes, I have ALWAYS maintaned that you have to be somewhat crazy/deranged to kill someone in cold blood. So, two lonely people sitting in an office. I bet the Dr. is a little scared by Elliott.

Have you ever wondered if they would develop a relationship?

Richard

Anonymous said...

BSG--There was a cylon/human baby and it was a HUGE deal.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Humans - There's a chance the whole show aired somewhere else before the US. So you may have spoiled something! lol I think we're only 6 episodes in. But, I guess things were leading towards something like that. As for BSG...I vaguely remember that! lol I forget a lot of the show. Might be worth a rewatch one day.

Mr. Robot (are we calling it "ROBOTS" now to be more like "HUMANS"?? lol) - I'm guessing that the rooftop murder (not guessing..it seems pretty clear) that this was mandated by crazy dude's wife. She's calling the shots...and somehow her death will be beneficial to him rising in the company.

I have wondered about the Doc and Elliot and if there's something there. But he has so many women in his life (1 less now) that you don't know who he'll end up with.

So Mr. Robot and the girl and Mr. Robot and that other dude had a conversation without Elliot there. So either Elliot was there but in Mr. Robot persona...or maybe they're all figments of his imagination. Something is still up! lol

Anonymous said...

Humans--on wiki it said that ep8 aired on August 2nd. Hard to believe they are more than two eps behind. I was asking to confirm if Hurt was dead?

Robot-Crazy IT guy(oh yea, which one--lol) has a crazy wife too. And how crazy is the wife that just got killed for meeting up with a nutjob. And the blonde is willing to blow up everybody's job to find out how a decision is made. That sounds a little crazy to me. The Iranian girl asked a good question about motivations. Why are people doing the things they are doing?

Richard

Anonymous said...

Robot--I think him opening up to her could be a turning point that brings them romantically together. Even though he knows her hang ups he may still find her attractive and so she may like that idea. He obviously respects her or he wouldn't have shown up. That respect combined with his loneliness and just loosing Shayla could motivate him toward her. She also just broke up with a sleezbag. And rebounds happen.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Humans - Okay...sorry I double checked and 8 episodes have aired. Wow I don't believe I've seen 8 of these already. Anyway, I'm pretty sure William Hurt's character is still alive. I think it would've been a more memorable scene if he was hurt. He was starting to be at odds with the blonde "human-like" synth I think. But I don't think she killed him.

Robot - Yeah you're right...they're all crazy. I just can't remember anyone's name except Elliot, Mr. Robot, Vera and Shayla. lol And of course, now I only know 3 names of living characters!

Yeah...the doc is definitely more vulnerable since he knows all about her. But she might be relieved that she can share those painful secrets with someone and he will share with her. But I would think her initial reaction would be "GET OUT!!!" The problem is...she's a shrink and she knows he's suffering and needs help so even if she's scared she may stick with it. But yeah I could totally see romantic things coming out of it. But this show does pretty well at subverting expectations...kind of like an author we know who is taking his time with his 6th book release!

speaking of...

GoT - I just saw that Game of Thrones was released in 1996. I've known that...but it made me think that book 6 is DEFINITELY coming out next year for the 20th anniversary. lol 20 years...damn...and the first 3 books came out every 2 years! lol

Anonymous said...

YOu know, if you take the robot/AI sex down the line you ultimately end up with something like the Matrix. I recall Sylvester Stallone/Julia Roberts in Demolition Man trying to move back to human/human real get togethers--lol. Kind of a full circle.

Richard

Anonymous said...

GoT---1996, wow I did not realize it's been almost 20 years. GRRM must be having a great ride. That has to be some kind of a record in drawing out the story. I mean 20 years is a generation. Many have died/been born during that time who knew or got to know the story.

Richard

Anonymous said...

Earlier comment re the Matrix. I have to clarify. If you're just a robot/AI that's probably true. But if you're like Blade Runner/BSG where you grow the replicants and they have a kind of DNA then you could end up with what BSG did.

It would be interesting if Humans goes the growth route vs build route. Otherwise you're still a robot under fake skin.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Lol...Demolition Man with Julia Roberts may have been a little different of a movie! I think you mean Sandra Bullock. But yes I remember that scene. You know for not wanting to get into this Robot Sex debate, you sure do keep getting further down that rabbit hole! (matrix reference of an ALICE reference?)

GoT - Yeah..it's a crazy amount of time. But it's a life's work I guess. I get his perspective. What's the point of it all if you don't get to enjoy the success a little bit? Sure, you have impatient fans waiting for conclusion, but you gotta enjoy success a little bit. But enough's enough. Finish the books! LOL

Mike V. said...

Prison Break - TCS still going on and Fox Panel is happening. They just confirmed Prison Break is their next limited series revival. I've heard it's been really successful on Netflix. Dominic Purcell AND Wentworth Miller are both signed on to reprise their roles.

I'm not sure who hasn't seen it ever so SPOILER ALERT......ummmmm Michael was dead in the series finale!! Granted, they flash forwarded for that final scene. So maybe it'll take place before that flash forward...or there will be some excuse for that final scene to allow him to still be alive. It's not like they didn't resurrect Sarah Wayne Calles (sp) from the dead on that show too. lol

Apparently this was rumored way back in June...but it was just confirmed.

So, I guess we're seeing the pros/cons of the binge watching years later. These shows are getting a 2nd life on streaming for new audiences which allows for there to be additional content created pending the interest level is high.

So we can still hold out for more LOST: The Hurley/Ben years. lol And dammit my Quantum Leap Movie!!!

MJ said...

Yeah - I read about the Prison Break thing - not sure I was still watching by the time the finale came. Or if I did I don't remember it. LOL Like Heros they ruined the show. My husband was big QL fan - me not so much. He also loved that horribly good movie Evil Dead - so he is exceited that is getting a limited series soon.

OITNB - finished it last night. Nothing too exciting really. Season 3 a bit dull but i did have some interesting moments. The whole panties business was funny - and Piper thinking she is all gansta !

Have Black Mirror, Wet American Summer and House of Cards still to get to.

Stitchers - that ended this week. Was a surprisingly good show - can't believe I watch anything on ABC Family though. LOL

Mike V. said...

PB - Well it should've been a limited series before we had limited series(es??)! Season 2 was not great..season 3 was ridiculous because they were back in prison. Season 4 was okay from what I remember. Instead they were trying to break INTO somewhere instead of out. lol I've heard about the new Evil Dead stuff....but I never saw the movie myself.

OITNB - Yeah I think I have the same ho hum reaction. The finale definitely was underwhelming with the swimming stuff. But yeah panties and gangsta piper were highlights.

Black Mirror - I'd start with that. It's 6 unique episodes and they're all great. I still haven't watched the Holiday special with Jon Hamm...if it's on Netflix now let me know! But I think it's on Youtube.

House of Cards - Still on back burner...it's a slow season and we're crawling through it even slower.

Wet Hot - Watched the movie (which I saw 15 years ago lol) and 2 of the new episodes. It's the same kind of dumb funny stuff I enjoy!

No Stitchers for me. My wife watches PLL on ABC Family now and is obsessed. I would think the Full House reboot would've been on ABC Family if not for Netflix...but I'll be checking out the Netflix one! lol

The Strain - Finally finished pilot episode and onto episode 2. I doubt I'll comment much until I'm caught up which might be by the end of season 2! :) I did notice Carlton Cuse did the "PREVIOUSLY ON THE STRAIN" just like he did for LOST and Bates Motel. lol

mj said...

Strain - yeah he has a distinctive voice. Just got renewed for season 3. Keamy with russian/polish accent funny. Kinda liking season 2 more then one even

Mike V. said...

Strain - Yeah, Keamy just showed up in episode 2 as a food inspector. He found a rat in a restaurant. lol I had heard mixed things about season 1...so your claims of season 2 just improving inspired me to dive in. lol Also noticed Mr. Filch/Walder Frey has a large role in the show as well. And of course...Mikhail from lost "lost" his head in the first episode! And I just looked him up on IMDB and his character name in the episode was "peter bishop" ahhh good times.

Anonymous said...

Strain--I think S2 is better in a lot of ways.

Richard

Anonymous said...

Ship--Wow, the Dr killed Niels. I like how this show takes people out. Now they have introduced the kids patrol along with the new Prez. The storyline has almost changed too much for me though. I mean what happened in Baltimore is like it never happened now. That location is now locked down and they had a presence where people believed in the Navy, etc.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Humans - Hmmm...episode 7 William Hurt's character dies. You must by psychic Richard! lol Now if in the finale they try to continue his consciousness in a synthetic we'll know either you should be writing scripts or you read stuff that aired somewhere else previously! :) Still a good episode.

Strain - On S1 episode 3 now.

TD, so I read the USA Today review of the finale. Were you good with it? Seems like what I read that nobody was satisfied??

Richard

Anonymous said...

Humans--yea, I'm expecting some Jon Snow moments--lol

Richard

Mike V. said...

TD - I stopped watching like a week after you guys did. lol I think I only watched 3. I've heard pretty much everyone was disappointed in the season.

Humans - lol makes sense

GoT - (potential spoilers) - Richard, did you see the casting news on Winter is Coming? I think Bran might be looking into the past soon.

Anonymous said...

TD--I liked the actors a lot. So, I'll watch the finale.

Richard

Anonymous said...

Ship--I should have added Norfolk to that too. But you know they're pretty close to each other.

This show is supposed to replace Falling Skies, which I really like, and so I can see why they would start setting up several stories so the series can go long(football term).

Richard

MJ said...

Ship - Last Ship is supposed to replace Falling SKies ? First I've heard of that. I didn't understand the nitty gritty details on how she killed him but glad he is dead.

Anonymous said...

Ship--This is Falling Skies last season and it's been a good show for TNT. TNT wants to keep the time slot a positive for themselves.

The gene scissors separated the immune part from the virus part to take away his immunity. At least that's how I understood it.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Strain - Plowing through season 1. I think I'm almost done episode 4 now. Rudy/Samwise/Mikey from Goonies/mole on 24 finally admitted to letting the van pass through Airport security. One of the plane crash victims ate his dog and then the wife sent in the annoying neighbor to be killed by him. lol That was kind of comical actually. Eph has lost joint custody. Overall I'm enjoying it. It's a good treadmill show. :)

Sopranos Rewatch - Stopped for a couple weeks but getting back into season 3. Chris is a made guy, Paulie is starting to show his authority on Chris (I thought this started a lot earlier. I missed it in the 1st couple seasons lol looking forward to Pine Barrens!). Jackie Aprile Jr. is starting to do stupid things. AJ just had a panic attack on the football field. I remember a lot of this like it was yesterday. Which is funny because I forgot A LOT of season 2. lol

Anonymous said...

Strain--a great ep. story is expanding very well and connecting people in a positive way. Scaled up and out--lol.

MIke, it gets better too.

Richard

MJ said...

Ship - ah ! I guess. LOL SOunds good to me any way.

Strain - yeah first season was not bad. Geez - forgot Samwise was even in it. Surprisingly the guy who drove the van is still in it.

Sopranos - I loved Christopher - Adriana too. LOL on Pine Barrens.

Mike V. said...

Last Ship - I'm sure you guys saw or assumed it would be. Renewed for a 3rd season.

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/10/last-ship-renewed-third-season

MJ said...

Last Ship - no did not see it - but not surprised.

OITNB - meant to say finished it up. Nothing earth shattering that is for sure. LOL

Black Mirror - got these watched too - very interesting most of them. Last one was odd though. Like Twilight Zone on steroids. Thanks for the recommendation - had not heard of it.

Anonymous said...

TD--saw the finale. Actually I don't know that you needed to watch the various eps before after say the first two or so. I didn't like the ending but it wasn't all bad.

Vince Vaughn did a GREAT job! And the girl playing his wife was pretty good too. Actually the acting for everyone was good.

BTW, I think McAdams is dating Kitsch now.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Black Mirror - I loved them all! I forget what the last ep was. Was it the prison? They were definitely Twilight Zone but all near future technology based. I liked the one where they could pretty much rewind any moment they experienced. Like a life TIVO...and what it led to. Crazy stuff...

OITNB - You mentioned it already! :) And agreed.

TD - Wouldn't surprise me if they are dating. lol I heard the actors turned in great performances but the writing was just all over the place the entire season. I'll take your word for it on the finale!

Strain - On Ep 5 now!

Star Wars - EW's cover story this Friday will be Force Awakens related with interviews with JJ/Kennedy and Kasdan. I think they're already unveiling most of it on the site though. 2nd link is PART 1 of the featured article. PART 2 coming later today. But I love reading the behind the scenes stuff. The inspiration stuff. Of course, what was comical is how they answered what remains of George's vision for the new trilogy. lol

MJ said...

Humans - not surprised Millican died since Richard spoiled that one. LOL Still say cop synth seems to actually have some emotion - loving the other cop and this week wanting to be killed. I always love these shows where any random teen can just hack whatever they want to. And Fred (the one that was believed dead) is definitely not right - he was odd several times - that cop/investigator who had him did something. And why were the humans arrested? Technically they have done nothing illegal. They'd only just found out about Niska killing people.

Anonymous said...

Humans--Sorry on the spoil. Yea, the brown haired cop synth definitely has feelings and was part of their group per the photo as I recall it. She is setting up the pro/con of them being able to "procreate" by downloading their consciousness.

Her having sex with that guy to show him how much she cares for him was again WEIRD when she pulled her plug cover off. AGain, it's like blow up doll stuff. ONly very strange people fall in love with their blow up doll--lol. I hate to say this, but why build a robot with female and male parts anyway? It really makes no sense whatsoever as they are tools. Unless of course they are sexbots--lol. And I've not heard anyone mention differentiated roles like that.

These robots have no endocrine system to effect their skin for example. Hence why they patch themselves. It's really comical.

Star Wars--thanks,will check it out later.

Richard

mj said...

Black Mirror - think the last was the child killer. Loved the bike riding/idol ep and the rewind one as well.

Humans - good point. why do they need the bits and bobs? Lol

MJ said...

Fall tv - need to start looking at the new shows and what they are. TV Line has done a few First Impressions that I've read. Heard of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and thought was a sitcom - apparently it's an hour long and has musical numbers? I have no idea what that means. Besides Minority Report there is some other show about future crime - and we already have a show called Person of Interest that is kind of that already (husband watches it). Another Medical drama - yuck. Not feeling really excited about the new season so far.

Fear the Walking Dead - when is that starting ?

Anonymous said...

A Fall TV schedule, not a bad format
Funny how I don't like most shows.

http://www.businessinsider.com/fall-tv-show-return-dates-schedule-2015-7

Not sure which new ones I might look into?

Mike V. said...

Network television shows sound pretty horrific this year. I'm sure there will be a couple standouts as always. I'll probably watch The Muppets. Maybe I'll check out Minority Report. There were a couple others I thought might be possibilities. Maybe Limitless too. I did enjoy the movie. They're all rehashes of existing stuff though. There's just so much better stuff on cable now it's tough to even take it seriously.

Fear TWD - I think it starts 2 Sundays from now. Probably will lead right up to TWD season 6.

Lots more Star Wars stuff on EW. They're all linked within each articles so you can get to them from the links I shared. Plenty to speculate about.

Anonymous said...

Robots--yes, Elliot is Mr. Robot and that girl is his sister. Craziness abounds.
The Chinese hacker was so funny and yet taking himself so seriously, time, time, time.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Robot - Well...and Mr. Robot bears the resemblance of his father. I had a feeling they might be going there a few weeks back and forgot to mention it. Figure! lol I guess it's still up in the air whether Slater is really there or not. i.e. is his father alive and pulling the strings or his he dead and part of Elliot? It's most likely the latter..but they left it ambiguous still.

Anonymous said...

Robot--Obviously the sister knows he's nuts and has been for a while. And he's wanted her before. She is very concerned for him. His father's death was caused by EvilCorp. So, it's very likely that his father's death was a shock to him and drove him bonkers.

Interesting how the sister and blonde know each other. They also share a bond over the EvilCorp dumping health issues.

The crazy guy's pregnant wife stabbing herself was sick.

Just fyi, I FFwd through this show a lot since it's got a lot of sick stuff going on and moves slowly at different points in an ep.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Robot - You probably fast forward through the parts where I'm staring at what I'm going to do next on the treadmill. lol Yeah there is some slow/sick parts. Agreed. But it's part of what makes the show so different from everything else that's on. I enjoy it for the most part.

Deadwood - Buzz started yesterday that HBO may finally revive it for a movie! Very exciting. Of course it's just based on one guy spreading rumors. lol

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/12/hbo-deadwood-movie

Fall tv - yeah very much seems like same old same old. Def very little original thought any more. SOme guy at FX pretty much stated that there is too much on tv and he predicts less programming in the coming years. I doubt that though. But he has a point - I've had a hard time catching up to Netflix and have no Redbox time. Didn't even get to marathon any old shows like I usually do. Too much to watch that is new.

Penny Dreadful - I'm surprised no one here watches this. Very good show on Showtime. They just finished second season a few months ago. It is a horror show but they use literary characters like Frankenstein - all I can say without spoiling things.

Mike V. said...

TV Landscape - I've read studies more that there will just continue to be more programming. No one intends for you to watch it all, but each program has its niche community. And a target audience, even if smaller than the masses, is a powerful audience. And with all of this quality/risky programming out there, it makes programming targeted at the masses less appealing and almost laughable. Every once in awhile, they still pull off a hit.

I agree with you though...if you're someone that likes to watch it all...it's impossible!

Penny Dreadful - See above comments for why I don't watch. :) Sounds like ONCE UPON A TIME - the pay cable version. lol

MJ said...

Penny - nothing like Once Upon a Time I can assure you - but that's cool

Mike V. said...

Penny - I didn't really mean to imply I thought they were the same show. lol I just meant the concept. Same with Grimm. They're taking on famous characters from stories and putting them in a show together. The tone and the plot could be totally different. I wouldn't think it's a stretch to assume that it exists BECAUSE of Once Upon a Time. lol

The recommendation is noted though...if I end up with no shows to watch...I'll check it out. Though, I've had the whole 1st season of Outlander on my TiVo forever...and I've been hearing more and more great things about it. I think Richard watched it on my recommendation and I never did. It won the fan voted EWwy for best show not nominated for an Emmy. But those are usually popularity contests. All of the comments said in this case it's popularity AND quality. lol I'm intrigued! Plus, it's Ron Moore of BSG fame. (and DS9 of course)

Anonymous said...

Ship--I think the stuff with Rachel is nuts--to condemn her. Ship avoiding torpedoes was fun. Bluetooth--lol. Interesting how the good guys are made to look like the bad guys. I've never been a fan of false accusation storylines, unless their short lived.

Propaganda war. Hard to win without hearts and minds.

Richard

MJ said...

Robot - so what just happened ? LOL Robot is his father ? Darlene is his sister? Holy crow. And wasn't Darlene's whole personality differen in this ep? Ballet ? And she was alot less dark. And the crazy pregnant lady - stabbing herself so that she has to be rushed to the hospital rather then answer questions by the police. Caught up to your coments now - Slater is his dad and agree that he's not really there. Why wouldn't the sister know the blonde - she has supposedly knwn Elliot since they were young. And White Rose is a guy dressed like a woman ! LOL

Anonymous said...

Falling Skies--interesting ep. But not sure how this close to the finale that it fits in and is so important. The stuff with the Capt being taken over essentially covered 3 eps so that's a lot of time for a final season. I think there are two eps left until finale or something like that. So, of course we didn't get to see the overlord's overlord--lol. I kind of wondered if it was Tom or Kochees, someone who would be a shocker. And maybe give some credence to what the Capt was saying. The thing with Tom coming back from the Moon is not 100% good with me. It's so up in the air really.

A galaxy far, far away is now closer than you'd think.
Disney has announced it's building two huge "Stars Wars" attractions at Disneyland, California, and at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Visitors will be able to fly in a Millennium Falcon, drink at a Mos Eisley-style cantina, and get stuck into an epic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
Fantastic roaming beasts
Each of the 14-acre immersive lands will be staffed by droids, "fantastic roaming beasts" and other inhabitants of the "Star Wars" worlds, Disney CEO Bob Iger told the crowd at the company's D23 Expo on August 15.
The "jaw-dropping new world" will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space.
It's Disney's "largest, single-themed land expansion ever."
Sadly no timetable has been announced for completion of the new sites, so don't don your Jedi robes just yet.
Eager fans can console themselves with separate "Star Wars" attractions appearing in Disney's parks later this year, to coincide with the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Mike V. said...

Star Wars Land - Oh yeah, the minute it was announced, my star wars app let me know! :-) lol it was definitely part of the Lucasfilm purchase that there would be a larger presence, but the details and sketches were welcome news!

I've been stuck in meetings all day.

Robot - Definitely have seen Mr. Robot...we commented on it a little bit earlier in the thread. I was suggesting it was still a little ambiguous of Mr. Robot is a manifestation of his dad in his head or his very alive father. Can comment more later

Humans - watched the finale..it was good. can comment more later.

Strain - I'm about 8 episodes through the 1st season. getting there!

Anonymous said...

Strain--I didn't like this ep too much. I really thought that Eph was wasting his time on the DC detour--lol--and he was. And seriously who didn't see the blonde getting killed the moment he kissed her. And in many ways that just didn't make sense with his girlfriend taking care of his son back home. I never thought of Eph as a sleeze bag but he was in this ep. And when the German guy was waiting to receive his masters worms, etc who didn't see that it was going to be the guy standing next to him.

I really hope this show avoids more of these useless storylines that are too predictable.

Richard

MJ said...

I'm behind on everything. Been re-watching last season of Sleepy Hollow ;-D

Mike V. said...

Strain - on penultimate ep to the season 1 finale right now. Eph's ex-wife got turned, they faced the master, the blonde is back with the crew and they're getting ready to broadcast a message on televisions across the city.

Sleepy Hollow rewatch eh?? - Interesting! lol Funny considering so many of the hard core fans were so disappointed in season 2. I enjoyed it, but never considered rewatching! How's it holding up?

Mike V. said...

GoT - Damon Lindelof provides his 2 cents on Game of Thrones and haters. lol Haven't read yet but of course I'm going to share!

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/18/damon-lindelof-game-thrones

Mike V. said...

Robot - So, biggest non-surprise of the year confirmed. lol Granted, the surrounding drama was still engaging and the twist on it being his father was a good one (even though I suspected that too). Loved the flashback that opened up the episode with Slater working in a computer fix-it shop and being put out of business by Best Buy. I really thought last night was the finale...but looks like we get one more.

Leslie said...

Hey everyone! I've been crazy busy this summer getting ready for wedding in October and doing some home repairs. Looking forward to Fear the Walking Dead starting Sunday. Watched Humans. It was okay. Interesting how the wife went from feeling like she was being replaced to helping save them in the end. Has anyone been watching The Whispers or The Zoo?

Anonymous said...

Robot--Yea, Elliott seeing his Dad(or himself) was on track. But, now they have 2 crazies working together. Like that the guy was fired. Him putting on the gloves had absolutely ZERO tension though and so that scene was kind of weak. Some old computer shops still around here in places. I quit buying desktops btw. I have them custom built now.

Like a corp would hire someone who is suing them for 100s of millions of dollars--lol.

The crusader lawyer not hiring the blonde was realistic though. She's just a piece of junk to them now.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Hi Leslie! Exciting on the wedding planning. Maybe not on Home repairs! :)

Fear TWD - I'm looking forward to it too. I saw initial reviews that were so-so about it but I'll check it out.

Humans - Yeah it wasn't the greatest show, but it was entertaining enough for me to stick with.

Have not been watching the others.

Robot - Agree...didn't understand the rubber gloves scene. I just assumed he was going to attempt to take Elliot out and then it switched gears. The logic on the Blonde's career change, I agree, was a bit of a stretch. lol

Anonymous said...

Robot--it looks like the blonde being at Evil corp will serve as some tension with Elliot.

If that happens, then it just became a show of made up fake drama which I don't like.

Richard

MJ said...

Strain - I was sorry they killed Fitzwilliams so quickly - he was a nice addition to the team. Not surprised Eph's great plan hit a snag - nor that it was Stoneheart was behind it. I was surprised Master chosse that Rock Star to take over next though. Pretty ridiculous that the Indian place is delivering - no matter what they charge for it. I don't think Eph and the woman back home are dating any more.

TWD - re-watching last season. So weird seeing Beth and Tyreese again. Amazing the things you pick up on the second viewing - just looks and what seemed like off hand comments have such meaning now that I know what is coming. LOL Especially some of the Tyreese stuff.

Behind on almost every thing else due to rewatching Sleepy and TWD though.

Humans - Found it interesting that they needed the cop synth to finish linking together to help other synths but none of them knew that they did.
And how creepy is Hobb's plan to make synths that can feel and love - but are still controlled by their owners.

Sleepy - yeah alot of fans were hating S2 - but I liked it. Still amusing on the re-watch.

Hey Leslie ! I am watching both Whispers and Zoo. Hated the rats episode. LOL

Mike V. said...

Strain - Finished season 1 and onto season 2!

TWD - interesting on rewatch. Might be a fun one to rewatch the whole thing one day. But I know you wouldn't enjoy rewatching season 2. Honestly, probably me either. :)

Sleepy - yeah I still enjoyed it too!

Anonymous said...

Ship--surprised the Isralie girl got it. I guess to make room for the Valkyrie. BTW, am I the only one who can't take that girl(valkyrie) with the red streaks as a serious Phd smarty pants. And seriously the Cobra team getting into a gunfight was so obvious and getting boring while waiting.

Falling Skies--Lots happened with Pope and a "Lexie" fight. Lots of things to consider about this Queen stuff. But, it looks like the Esphenie are bringing the fight to the 2nd Mass vs the other way around.

Richard

MJ said...

FTWD - I was so tired last night that I kept nodding off. Sigh ! Have to rewatch it.

Falling Skies - didn't get to it yet but next week is series finale.

MJ said...

Robot - mean to say - I did not record it last week. Tivo says I cancelled the recording. It re-airs this week I will have to watch cause I think this weeks is the finale.

Mike V. said...

FTWD - I don't know how I wasn't tired. Our kids drove us crazy yesterday and our 15 month old daughter watched with us. lol We had no choice! :) But I'll refrain from commenting until anyone else watched. I'll say that it was a good setup episode for the show.

Talking Dead - New ep yesterday before FTWD. Some hints of season 6 and a clip that gave away nothing (intentionally). Hurley was the guest too so that was fun. It'll return for the finale of FTWD in 5 weeks.

Robot - Yep this week is the finale. it'll be a good double header for you!

Strain - I'm on episode 2 of season 2. Keamy and blondie just went skinny dipping. lol They had to have recast the kid right? I know puberty can make people look different but he looks totally different. lol

Anonymous said...

Falling Skies--yea, one more to go. I will miss this show. So many various groups in play here with the Dornians?, Esphenie, Volm and Humans. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I can't believe they're going to wrap it up in 1 hour from where it is now. So, much time seems has been wasted.

Hell on Wheels--Just an overall AMC complaint!! Once AGAIN, they are dividing up a final season!! I'm really so sick of this that I am not watching any more AMC serials until I know something has changed. Atleast TNT can finish a series decently as with Falling Skies. Funny how I now watch more TNT than AMC programming.

Richard

MJ said...

Strain - yes they recast the kid. LOL

FTWD - i liked it. Agree good set up. Glad they did not drag out the junkie thinking he is crazy and the parents not knowing something really is going on. Was surprised that Cal was his dealer - not surprised Cal tried to kill him. Like the daughters boyfriend - too bad he is probably a goner.

Last Ship renewed for S3.

In its second season, the show is basic cable's #1 scripted series this summer with adults 25-54 and ranks as one of the the Top 3 with adults 18-49 and total viewers.

http://www.spoilertv.com/2015/08/the-last-ship-renewed-for-season-3.html

Richard

Mike V. said...

GoT (SPECULATION/SPOILERY) - I just assumed he'd be coming back eventually (in books and in show).....and technically he may have already come back in the books but just not confirmed by name..only features. But I saw that article too! lol

FTWD - LOL on daughter's boyfriend probably being a goner. I got a lot of similar vibes between this daughter and the older daughter on HUMANS. Lot of the same character beats. Not being happy with the family, all up in her device, etc... lol It's cool that Los Angeles is still a functional city...it'll be interesting to see the devolution. Unfortunately, I also heard that the pilot was shot IN Los Angeles which made for some pretty nice shots with the city as a backdrop. Apparently production moved to cheaper Vancouver for regular episode production so we may see differences starting in ep 2. But I'll stick with it!

And of course...the ratings were great. I don't think anyone thought they wouldn't be. lol

Strain - Still catching up...this recasted kid is AWFUL!!! I'm sure they wanted a kid that could be more of a brat than the cute kid they had in season 1...but he's laughably bad so far. lol Or maybe it was truly a casting conflict/issue. I think I'm through 2 episodes. I'm on vacation next week so I might catch up or might not...but chances are I'll catch up the week after Labor day. lol

Anonymous said...

Strain--yea the new kid is a brat and it looks like he's supposed to be given where the show is going. Of course it's just extra made up drama and you know how I feel about that--lol.

Richard

MJ said...

FTWD - not surprised so many watched it. A few pretty silly moments. That car that hit Nick - Nick had been standing in the intersection for like half a minute already. How'd ya not see him ? Knew guy playing Nick was in Harry Potter but could not place him - then realized young Tom Riddle. Apparently his dad is Stannis Baratheon.

Last Ship - I liked the ep. Know the actress playing Valkyrie but can't place her. Was very sad that the chinese guy and Israeli girl died. Pretty realistic to have losses though. Probably setting up a cliffhanger with the Capt refusing to have the surgery he needs right away. That Brit guy really is getting quite crazy - and his brother sees it !

RObot - still haven't got last weeks ! Ugh. Taped it on a repeat and USA ran late with their stupid wrestling. Taping it again today.

Falling SKies - Didn't see Lexie coming back ! Was pretty sure Pope would die though. Feels like they have an awful lot to close out for the finale.

Strain - yeah lots of talk how the Strain made the kid alot like the earlier/non likable Carl from TWD. It's proabaly hard for kids to be nuanced - they are trying to show a pretty bad dad not handling what is going on in his kids life very well.

Mike V. said...

Strain - I'm with you on this one Richard. He's awful! lol I get what they're trying to do. They just aren't executing it very well. But it's a minor nit on otherwise entertaining show. I'm up to the point where Eph/Corey Stoll finally has shaved off the hair and actually looks like Corey Stoll now. lol I think it's about 20 minutes into episode 5. So 2 eps and change left to catch up. I might be able to do that by the end of the week but there's also Mr. Robot....and then I'll probably be 2 behind again before I catch up. (unless they're taking Labor Day off...doubtful)

Sopranos - Pretty close to the Pine Barrens episode! I forgot the whole BMW Lady affair for Tony (Gloria Trillo) was part of season 3. I thought that happened in season 4. Maybe it continues on into season 4. Because I know stuff hits the fan with Carmella at the end of 4.

FTWD - I meant to mention that yesterday that it's Stannis's son. lol I knew they had the same last name. But yeah...didn't realize it was young Tom Riddle. I had heard someone was from harry potter in the cast though. Yeah...good question on the car....I'm sure it was just for dramatic effect to show the city is still a functioning city unlike the mother ship show that we've been watching for 5 seasons!

Anonymous said...

Ship-I was wondering which brother is right. The leader with the idea that they have set in place a scenario where the Navy will be viewed as bad regardless or the brother where loosing the comm tower was a big deal. With the red stripped girl I would say it's 50/50 at this point since they need a source of conflict.

It's been kind of good to me that the love interest stuff has been on hiatus--lol. Interesting to see where this red stripped girl will go.

Richard

MJ said...

Strain - you're pretty far in then since he is going to DC. his wife and those little kids are creepy. Riachard - I call them skitters like on Falling Skies.

Sex/Drugs - are you caught up ? i just watched last weeks - almost squeeled with joy when I saw who was guesting. And she was awesome as always. I cannot believe the lines that her and her daughter were getting away with saying on non-pay cable.

Ship - to me the brother in charge is becoming maniacal and too egotistical. Losing control of communications seems worse then thinking you're so superior cause you got a couple of civilians to attack some military. He's starting to believe that he really is a savior of the people

Mike V. said...

ROBOT - What to expect in finale http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/25/mr-robot-creator-sam-esmail-discusses-elliot-tyrell-and-shows-finale

Sex/Drugs - Nope not caught up. I think we only watched the first 2. Still good?

Mr. Robot - finale is postponed because of the shooting today.

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/26/mr-robot-finale-postponed-wdbj7-shooting

Mike V. said...

Robot - better check your dvrs. Mine is still set to record ep 10 tonight as a new ep. I changed my season pass to record reruns and might have to manually set to record next Wednesday.

MJ said...

Robot - dang it ! I didn't hear about it not airing and started it up at 10:15 after I finally got to see last weeks. So I guess now we know there is a shooting. Now about last weeks - wow ! Agree with all you said - psycho wanna be CTO teaming with Elliot can't be good. And yeah - no one is hiring the girl who is suing you.

MJ said...

SOA - meant to say - no thanks ! Focus on the Mayans - why ? LOL I'm not even checking out his new show. Seems like period pieces are popular this season. Cop show in the 60's, Sutter's new one, Detective show in LA in the 80's I think. This might be the fall that I check out the least of the new stuff.

Mike V. said...

Robot - Yeah sucks that it got postponed but understandable. The world sucks sometimes! Well...just particular unstable people suck! I'll be on vacation next week so guess I'll be waiting until I get back to watch the finale.

Strain - on the plus side I only have 1 more episode to catch up. So Eph had a little fling with the D.C. lady and now she's dead. lol And his friend is too. So not sure how that impacts the legislation he was trying to get passed (or whatever he was doing with the vaccine thing). The rest of the crew ran into Zack's mom in the church and Fitzwilliam got axed (literally). I kinda got spoiled on that by scanning the blog here...but not a big deal! lol That was my own fault! So by tomorrow I'll be caught up then I'll be 2 behind by the time I'm back and watching again.

SOA - Yeah, apparently some people love the Mayans and want to know more (judging by the comments). I'm really not that interested. Apparently, Sutter is interested in telling the prequel story of JT, Gemma and Clay's days too.... That's great and all, but I think we've learned from prequel stories that the stakes just aren't as great because you know how some characters will turn out.

Sopranos - Watched the Pine Barrens episode! Still holds up awesomely!

Mike.....did you see this? It's good to know Phoebe is still singing! Love it!!

Robot - was glad the whole hack and Fsociety were not hallucinations as well. That would have been annoying. Having just seen the previous weeks it very fresh - at the end Elliot stares at the popcorn machine - where Darlene hid a certain item. Think with what is in the machine and what happened to cause the pre-emption we can guess what will occur. They spoiled it. LOL

Heard two of the peeps involved in Va were from PA. The woman anchor and the camerman's fiance - or something like that.

TWD - up to the part where Carol has decided Jessie's husband is beating her and possibly her son and is about to go all crazy lady on them. LOL
Noticed somethng I'm not sure I noticed before - the first half of the season they seemed to focus on the fact that Abraham's cut on his hand won't heal - or he keeps re-opening. I've not seen that occur since they arrived in Alexandria. I don't think they ever addressed that.

Ship - is the girl with red stripes from Lost ? Ben's daughter ?

Strain - he was trying to get the vaccine made and distributed in DC. But he's still a wanted man so needed back channels.

Mike V. said...

@Leslie - I saw it in my tweets today, but still working on getting to it! Thanks for the link. I'll check out later. :)

Robot - I actually don't remember what's in the popcorn machine! But I can guess. I heard also but didn't make the connection when it happened...the song playing when Elliot realizes he is Mr. Robot also played at the end of Fight Club. So at least they acknowledged the very obvious homage or copy.

Not sure I knew they were from PA. Just an awful tragedy.

TWD - Ahhh Carol...loved how she went all Creepy Suzy Homemaker in Alexandria. lol Hmmm...don't think I remembered about Abraham's cut. Interesting.

Ship - Not that I watch but I did see Alex just got cast in something else. lol

Strain - Ahhh right. Thanks!

Mike V. said...

AHS - I just saw there might be 2 seasons of this next year (I'm assuming not counting the overflow of this fall's season into 2016). I'm exhausted just thinking about it. lol It's an EW article but the link isn't on the site yet. I got it via twitter.

Mike V. said...

Strain - All caught up! Just in time to fall behind again. lol

MJ said...

Catching up - so much is now ending - its a good thing.

Was that Phoebe and Taylor Swift ? I saw it too.

Strain - the blonde's ex-girlfriend is an idiot. She has to die. LOL

TWD - of course it was also the ep that Noah died. I hated that part.

House Cards - started this. Not much to say 3 eps in. LOL Waanted to see Frankie and Grace or Grace and Frankie - whichever it is - but don't think I will have time. Never finished Kimmy Schmidt either.

MJ said...

Oh - ejoy your vacation Mike

Mike V. said...

Strain - Yeah she can't be in it for the long haul. lol I loved all of the comments about her running away from the grocery store. Eph referring to her as the Track Star was pretty hysterical.

House of Cards - That's how we felt about every episode we watched in s3. Couldn't have gotten much further than 3 episodes. lol

Sopranos - We finished season 3 just in time for vacation. So we'll resume later. Unfortunately, s4 is a letdown but maybe binging it won't be bad.

TWD - Ahhh....starting to come back to me!

Yep Phoebe and Taylor. Taylor has been on quite the roll of guest stars at her shows. Must be nice to be the most powerful person on the planet. lol

Thanks!! I fully intend to enjoy it. :) Talk to you guys when I get back. Of course, if anything interesting happens next week I'm sure i'll find a way to post a comment. :)

Ship--am I the only one who thinks the black girl and the red stripe girl could possibly become an item? I was wondering when they would run out of ammo/torpedoes. Time for resupply. Not a bad ep. What happened to the helos?

Richard

Anonymous said...

Falling Skies--Lapedus is the calvary. Ann watching Tom's fireworks show was pretty good. Dornians to the rescue for Ann and some good flashbacks for Tom.

There's no way Pope could have made it to DC and lived through the explosions. And nobody checked to see if he was dead, that part was dumb. So Pope is a terminator.

Ben writing the speech was good. The galaxy lapel pins were an interesting touch.

Finale was actually better than I thought it would be given the last few eps moving slowly. This show started out great went through some bad patches but ultimately was good.

Richard

Strain-So, the lumen must be a big deal as it keeps coming up. The girl sleeping with the Palmer was kind of gross. Wonder if she's spying on him. Quinlan agrees the ancients are out of it. Looks like Fet may get the girl back? Funny how Abe keeps reminding him to stay focused on the mission. Nora did not seem happy about Eph sleeping with another woman.

Richard

MJ said...

Strain - I can't even rmember why the book is so important ! French chick - thnk she just wants to be with money and power - but she does keep trying to find out what he's up to.

Under Dome - finally cancelled. LOL

Coach remake - not happening. Mike will be disappointed.

Falling Skies - I laughed when I saw Jeff Fahey's name. Was kind of an odd end to the series - but this show was always doing the unexxpected. Yeah - that was dumb with Pope. Kinda lame that technically none of the main characters died but I was ok with it.

Still no Ship - finale next week though

MJ said...

Oops - meant to say - during Falling they showed the Librarians will be back 11/1 and Legends 11/2

Mike V. said...

Coach - I saw that as well. I'm coping just fine! :)

Anonymous said...

Dome--I have been watching via dvr and so FFWD sometimes. But really the show is at a change of phase and so cancellation can fit in just fine.

Yea, glad to see the Librarians and Legends spots.

FallilngSkies--I liked this show and am not as down on it as perhaps most. It could be over dramatic at times due to poor writing and of course just stupid--lol. But, the acting was good for the most part.

Strain--lumens book. I recalled that it was something about the origins of the vampires and I think Abe believes it has information on how to end them. What I did not realize until this ep is that the master believes it too.

Richard

GoT - don't know what this stuff means since not a book reader but figured you guys would.
http://www.vulture.com/2015/09/game-of-thrones-euron-greyjoy-cast.html

Anonymous said...

GoT--yea, we've been expecting the Greyjoy's to make more of an appearance next season. Since we no longer have the books to specifically guide us, it's mostly from what we have suspected might happen based on the TV show and the books. Their are a few others we are expecting to come into play next season as well. The thing with GoT is there are a LOT of characters and when you think they may be decreasing them as we're into the second half or better, we still get "new" ones.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Got - that's true for the most part. But there was a greyjoy plot in books 4 and 5 that was skipped last season. So the popular guess is that they are revisiting that this year. So it might be important to grrm's end game. Hopefully the show makes it more interesting than I found it in the books! Lol

Anonymous said...

Robot--well it's obvious why they delayed the finale. It was still ugly. So, Tyrell has taken the FSociety lead now it seems. The wife had their baby--I hope she's not an abuser. She told him he had to fix things.

Interesting how they opened up the after effects of the crash. With questions like, "now what?" It's the inmates running the asylum. It eerily is paralleling how I think our police are being treated vs criminals.

Richard

Robot - very good finale. Did not see it coming tha White Rose - this time as a man - was one of the 1% ers. Tyrell's crazy wife was making me nervous when Elliot was looking for him. Loved 'Mr robot' picking the fight and Elliot getting punched for it.

Last Ship - didn't see it coming that the capt would be asked to be CNO - makes sense though. But really - one of the immunes got away and shot the doc ? LOL - kinda lame.

Strain - can't believe Faraldo convinced the citizens to fight back ! LOL And they didn't kill Nikki ! SIGH.

With still a few weeks to most shows starting and lots of stuff ending just started Bloodline on Netflix. Heard good things.

House Cards - finished that - not much to say except Frank should have been afraid to sleep after firing Claire. LOL

Mike V. said...

Robot - Watched this morning. Enjoyed it as well. I wasn't sure what that dude was in the post-credits scene, but I suspected white rose. Loved that scene as well. I guess we know what scene caused the 1 week delay too! That said, I still forgot about the off-screen connection when I was watching the episode.

Strain - 2 behind again so I'll watch them this week.

FTWD - Watched the one we missed last week. Pretty good.

Sopranos - started the dreaded season 4. There were still some comical moments in the premiere so maybe it won't be as bad as I remember. lol

LOST - Interesting article on Damon's personal career highs and lows. It also had a link to something I read before but always fun to read again. It's from a LOST writer who wanted to document with proof a lot of the day to day life of writing for lost. In the context, you kind of get the idea that some of the things that came to fruition over the course of the show were in those early day discussions and not "made up as they went along". But, of course, they evolved in "the think tank"

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/09/03/damon-lindelof-highest-lowest-lost

PS: I think about 10 days until the LOST book that features some of my recaps comes out. I should be getting some advertisements to post soon.

Anybody going to watch the Bastard Executioner coming up soon?

Last Ship--the finale set up a big change for S3. Keeping in mind this show is supposed to be a flagship--pun intended--I'm wondering if there are contract negotiations in play for Rona Mitra. Also noticed that the contagious cure(isn't that combination of words strange--lol?) is only good for a few days. It wasn't that way a couple eps ago so that could play into S3 somehow. And now they could write it so that since they sprayed the people in St.Louis there isn't any more ingredients to make a cure. Chandler bringing his family out could be an interesting story--will he go by land or sea-lol? St.Louis is a strange place to base a show when the show is supposed to be about a ship.

BTW, there's another show(scifi) that had it's center in St. Louis recently and it went downhill after a while--lol.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Bastard Executioner - Dunno. It's a new Kurt Sutter show (sons of anarchy). I think MJ said she's out above somewhere in the comments. lol

Caught up on last week's Strain. In the middle of this past Sunday's ep.

MJ said...

Robot - see your lack of procedural watching has caught up. LOL I immediately recognized the actor in drag as White Rose from Law and Order years ago - so had no problems realizing that was his in the post Credit thing.

FTWD - yah I guess they proved that the mom can kill when needed. LOL

Sopranos - not all eps were equal but I don't remember an entire season being bad. But it was many many years ago. LOL

Last Ship - I thought the same about St Louis - not even on the ocean ! Other show was Defiance - and it was a land-locked show. It's had some rough patches but I still watch it. They recently blew up part of that arch.

Bastard Executioner - no not getting sucked into this one. A lot of period pieces coming out - 80's cop show, some other LA show that will keeps taking places in different times, a BBC show that is billing itself ast GofT without dragons (Last Kingdon) though I doubt that is about the times before England became england or some such thing. I thnk this fall will be my lowest sampling of new stuff ever. Not even checking out the new medical drama - tired of them. Nor am I watching Quantico - hear it's alot like How to Get away with Murder in that we will keep seeing the same thing from each persons perspective - I hated that. LOL

Leslie - don't know if you Netflix but a new season on Longmire comes out tomorow there. I think you used to watch that as well as me.

Anonymous said...

LOL, I don't know most of what's coming out with so many broadcasters to keep up with.

I don't know how long I'll watch anything that's new. Defiance, that's it. Yea I quit watching as it became just silly to me. There's nothing on scifi I watch right now.

There's only about 4 or so shows I keep up with now--some more will be coming back this fall.

I just googled quantico and I won't be watching it.

I like Longmire, but don't do netflix.

I am continually reminded that my taste in TV is very different than most--ie I like Longmire a LOT more than what quantico appears to be. Yet one is going on ABC and the other was kicked off into netflix land.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Robot - Yikes....so the woman was a man dressed in drag earlier in the season? lol I may have seen 20 Law and Order episodes over the course of 20 years. lol (probably more) But that's the thing about procedurals. You don't need to see them all! :)

FTWD - Indeed she can!

Sopranos - Season 4 was definitely the low point of the series but there are enough highlights to make it entertaining. Even a bad season of Sopranos is good TV. We're up to the "columbus day" episode which I recall being pretty rough. lol Then eventually the Pie O My Horse arc.. But it ends with a Ralphie/Tony confrontation and eventually with a Tony/Carmella split which was amazing tv.

B.E. - You're finally hitting your max, MJ! Welcome to my world! lol

Longmire - I thought Richard watched that too. But I heard about the Netflix news as well. speaking of...

Black Mirror - I also heard Netflix is going to produce new Black Mirror episodes which is pretty awesome. (it was originally a BBC production)

apple launch yesterday--I know not TV recap stuff, but several here are into apple. I think I mentioned at one time I was a reseller with CNN as one of my good customers.

Anyway, yesterday's launch left me yawning. Also, for the first time I bought my daughter a non apple laptop, a Dell. Mostly because the connectivity methods/media varieties and repairability and upgrade ability of the macbook pros has become miniscule to non existent for serious computer users. You can no longer add ram or a larger drive to a macbook pro--that's crazy. I sold thousands of those things over the years, so sad to me.

apple TV seems to still be a question on how successful it could become.

Stock fell afterwards.

Richard

Mike V. said...

APPLE - Stock always falls after an Apple announcement. But sales are always strong. I've been waiting for the new Apple TV for awhile so I'll be getting it pretty close to day 1.

Phone definitely isn't the most exciting release but it's an "S" model. I'll probably be on board when the 7 rolls out. We'll see.

The MacBook RAM upgradability is definitely annoying. I have one and enjoy it. But won't be happy the day is starts slowing down!

WINDS OF WINTER - Publisher announced they expect it next year. :) (saw it on winteriscoming.net) I'm still banking on March!

Strain - Caught up again!

Anonymous said...

apple. I really think the new mac book pro config will cost apple sales too. I use myself as an example. I have also heard from others who know my background with apple.

I had my entire extended family sold on apple before it was "cool"! And most of my friends.

Now they're calling me with doubts about buying a computer that can't be upgraded or play a DVD, etc. I used too but can't now defend apple's new architecture. There used to be options for different user types such as thin and light with not a lot of functionality vs heavier with more hardware functionality. Now the product line is not as diverse, it's like they want everything to be an "air" type.

You can tell by all this writing that I am passionate about apple. Especially since I've spent so time and energy with the company.

So, what did you think of Strain's last ep?

Richard

Mike V. said...

Apple - The thing with Apple is they're trying to push technology ahead. With that, they are ahead of the game with removing optical drives. It's a tough adjustment, but they're looking at a world where you don't need discs. Streaming will improve and improve and download speeds will improve so there is no need to stick a disc in your machine. I, myself, had to buy a Blu-ray burner so I could burn home movies to share with family as I can't share a one hour home video of a Disney World trip in HD. lol But, one day I might be able to. They've removed all cables from the newer macbooks in favor of one cable that does everything. They're trying to simplify these machines and free them of wires and external attachments. But to do that, they have to strip stuff off of the machines and force the industry to conform. And it causes pain along the way.

I don't know how that factors into their RAM decisions. That's just Apple being greedy as they tend to be. They want you to get a new machine instead of upgrading your existing one...which sucks. I agree.

I'm an apple guy too so I feel your pain. They make great products. Not everything they do is great, but I'm willing to deal with it as long as the good outweighs the bad. We'll see if that trend changes!

Strain - I enjoyed it. Not much to comment on. They once again encountered the mother. They saved a town/island from initial invasions. Norah is skeptical of Eph's trip to D.C. as she should be. And they tried to take down the Master's #1 or 2 dude again and failed. But it was entertaining along the way! lol

MJ said...

Robot - yes - it was that man dressed as a woman. Might have been L&O SVU actually - he played a shrink

Black Mirror - good to hear !

Strain - you mean Staten Island that was saved by Ferraro ? LOL I'm from NY - Staten Island is one of the 5 boroughs that make up NYC. Sits between Brooklyn and Jersey. Red Hook - the next to be saved - is a neighborhood in Brooklyn. Just saying.

Mike V. said...

Strain - Yeah I know Staten Island and I knew that was the setting in the show. I'm not even sure why I didn't specify. lol Maybe it was Red Hook that was throwing me off. lol

MJ said...

No Strain or FTWD last night - had to watch my Giants screw up the win they should have had. ;-P But man - your team (second team) doesn't play til 10:20 or something like that. But at least your other team gets to start at 7:20. Going to bed at midnight has me sragging today. LOL

Lomgmire - watched the first one. Was actually an hour long now that they can do that without commercials. They pretty much picked up right where they left off - and I was't happy with the results.

Mike V. said...

lol on my team and my other team. My friends are trying hard to convert me to a full fledged Eagles fan this year. My son is getting to an age where maybe he'll start getting into it and I'm not going to force him into the red and gold. And I've always liked the Eagles...we'll see. Could still be tough for me. I have my principles! That said..i probably won't watch much of either game. Just checking in on scoring updates and my fantasy scores! lol

Didn't watch FTWD either though...I did watch Strain this morning but can wait to discuss when everyone else has watched!

Anonymous said...

Strain--Eph shooting Palmer was just so laughably stupid in that there was no tension. NO one believed he was going to be killed. Funny about Coco. And the Lumen is more important than eph and dutch. Of course Fet has an interest in dutch. I think Fet needs a reality check.

LOL on Dutch and the monkeys having sex all the time. I just can't see Eph and Dutch as an item. And really nobody expects dutch to be killed outright. The show wants her weirdness.

I don't like that the tv show makes eph look so stupid sometimes.

The Lumen was found and then of course lost again. I still don't get that Abraham has the worms yet is not a vampire.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Strain - It was pretty dumb, I'll agree. I don't think they'll push for an Eph/Dutch romance..not just yet. He has plenty going on with his vampire ex-wife, norah and the girl that he got killed in D.C. lol But, at least they're showing a bond growing there. Because before this storyline, they pretty much hated each other.

Not sure how they made him look stupid. It's not like he's a warrior. He's an alcoholic scientist/doctor who was trying to assassinate someone with a sniper. lol

Yeah...would've been too easy to get the Lumen. I don't get, nor do I think we're supposed to get, the worms thing with Abraham either. I think it has to do with the way he's been applying it. Or maybe he is a vampire and we're just not meant to know yet. As far as we know only Norah knows about him, right? Maybe some of his vampire adversaries know.

Anonymous said...

"Not sure how they made him look stupid. It's not like he's a warrior. He's an alcoholic scientist/doctor who was trying to assassinate someone with a sniper. lol"

Exactly, couldn't have said it better--lol. And, it's a lot more than that. For example, the trip to DC that was dumb just on face value. Not one member of the audience thought that was going to go anywhere.

I think you're right, we're not supposed to know about Abraham. At least that's what I"m going with since I don't know--lol. It certainly adds some intrigue and perhaps will require him dieing to kill the master.

BTW, the dutch character isn't in the books. Just made up for TV drama.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Strain - Good point. The trip to D.C. really didn't accomplish anything at all. lol

Honestly, I forgot this was based on a book...but now knowing that I could totally see them adding a character like Dutch. lol

Yea, I don't have many shows I'm watching now.

New shows didn't look that good either. I don't see any show on this list that I'm looking forward to.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/columnist/2015/09/13/fall-day--day-2015/71881950/

Ray Donovan was a good finale.

Richard

MJ said...

Strain - agree to all comments. Didn't expect they could hold onto the Lumen even if they got it. Bye Coco - not gonna miss ya. Now get rid of Dutch's girl and we are good. Eph and Dutch - ewww! Not a good coupling.

FTWD - damn - Madison is ready to just kill the neighbor out of pity. She's wasting no time.

GofT - you've probably all read this already. http://www.vulture.com/2015/09/kit-harington-jon-snow-game-of-thrones-30.html

Bloodline - I LOVE this show. 2 eps left and it really has built the tension. Netflix has a real winner here.

Mindy - Hulu - they aren't releasing all at once so I am going to wait for them to be done then get Hulu for a month and binge it. SIGH

Executioner - not bothering. You have to let us now how it was Richard.

Mike V. said...

Strain - Is Coco the girl working with the old dude? (yeah bad with names still) The one that Eph accidentally shot? If so, bad news for you the Master came and healed her at the end. lol

FTWD - Yeah they're catching on quick. I liked how it was about to go into TWD territory with the caravan at the end but then the military swooped in and snagged them. lol

GofT - I read that he may have accidentally spoiled something (kit) but not sure I saw that article. I'll check it out!

Bloodline - Good to know, it's on our list if we ever get to it!

Mindy - We want to binge this one too. I have the whole last season tiro'd, but we don't want to subscribe to hulu either. lol (I'm guessing you're just talking about the latest season. We haven't seen any!

LOST BOOK - Comes out Friday! I'll probably prep a post for this blog, Lost Addicts Blog along with adds on each site that give opportunities for discounts. (if anyone is interested of course!)

Executioner--historical fiction set at the time right after Longshanks, ie Edward II who was a horrible king. The 2 hour pilot I thought was very good. Better than most shows.

I found one weakness in the story line, so it can't be too bad--lol.

It's for mature audiences for sure.

IN some ways it feels like Vikings and NOT because of the time period. It brings in all the cool stuff. Lots of intriguing plotlines. I recognize some of the actors.

Richard

GoT, WOW that link really says it all, doesn't it?

Limited spoilery below--lol.

JS in some form is coming back in some form. I held out about 20 to 30% that he wouldn't.

Strain--Eph and Dutch, yea how about that conversation. Don't you think she was coming onto him? She's one of those monkeys that loves many at the same time. Coco and Palmer just adds to the creepiness of the show.

Richard

MJ said...

Strain - LOL - I forgot he healed her ! That's not a good sign about a show that I forgot something so big. Jeez. Dutch/Eph - me and my coworkers have some pretty strange conversations with R to X rated topics but it's not flirting.

Mindy - yeah I don't subscribe yet. But I will only have one season to watch so will get it for a month eventually.

Lost Book - am definitely interested. Just don't know when I'll read it since fall is here. But I'll be getting it so the links would be great. Dang it - just ordered something from Amazon this am too !

Anonymous said...

Strain--LOL. It looked like she was flirting to me. Not with just the monkey stuff. But more importantly with her eyes and asking about his love life, etc. He said he didn't really like to talk about it, but she kept at it.

Richard

Mike V. said...

will comment later on other stuff. As for the book no fear it's digital only. Lol as for reading I think it's gonna be the type of book you reference more than try to read cover to cover. It's looooooong! Lol But their overarching goal was to be able to read it via a logical end to end flow.

I'll post more info Friday! :)

I think Gotham is coming back soon

LOST book being long, I kind of expected that given all the info you said it was to include.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Gotham - I think it's back Monday!

Sherlock - I was way behind on this. Just wrapping up season 3 now. Great show. Not sure why I hesitated so long to watch season 3 lol

Strain - I must've tuned out some of the conversation! lol

LOST BOOK - I've skimmed the book and there's lots of good stuff in there. But it's certainly daunting to read! My finale post is featured in the finale chapter. And then most of my stuff is in the episode recaps sections at the end. There are 2 recaps...1 for immediate response to an episode and 2nd to really deep dive and analyze after the fact. No surprise, mine were the immediate response ones! lol (even though I felt we did some deep dives!) Each recap indicates how large the comments section is and there's a link to the original recap on the site. So you guys might be getting exposure from this too. LOL

I'll be out of town tomorrow, but I have posts scheduled to go up on both this site and Lost Addicts Blog with information around the book. May not hurt to go back to the LOST blog to see if people come out of hiding to comment again. lol

Where, what, when on Sherlock?

Richard

Mike V. said...

Sherlock - The Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes) /Martin Freeman (John Watson) BBC Series Sherlock. The do like 3 1.5 hour episodes every year, 1.5 or 2 years. There are 3 seasons so far. But the 3rd season aired sometime last year or maybe earlier this year. And I just got around to watching it. I think they're all on Netflix. But they're fantastic.

MJ said...

Lost book - oh no ! I don't use an ereader ! Ugh.

Gotham - yup - back on monday. Think the 2 part finale reairs tonight

Sherlock - my husband loves this show. I've never been a Sherlock fan but heard this one was a very good rendition of it.

Jessica Jones - Marvels newest comic to be a show on Netflix is certainly getting alot of attention. Never heard of her.

Zoo - terribl ending. LOL

Mike V. said...

Jessica jones - I think we get a Luke cage series first. I know Rosario Dawson will be showing up in various series tying them together.

Book - sorry about that! There is a pdf format you can purchase to read on the pc too and there's a 20% off coupon on my sites if you purchase those formats through the take 2 online store.

But for what it's worth all smart phones and tablets can download kindle books among other formats. :)

But yeah I physical copy of the book would be nice for the book shelf. Lol

Mike V. said...

EMMYS - YAY Game of Thrones for finally bringing in the Top Prize! Along with 11 other Emmy wins breaking the record for most wins for a show in one year. Totally deserved, even if most BOOK fans think it was the weakest season. I thought it was pretty strong from a TV show perspective.

Nice Jon Ham finally got his win for the iconic Don Draper too.

Mike V. said...

some people call him Jon Hamm also :)

Leslie said...

Really glad Jon Hamm got an Emmy finally! Well deserved! Didn't care for the host at all.

Mike V. said...

lol Leslie - Andy Sandberg is an acquired taste...but I've always thought he was hysterical on SNL and now on Brooklyn 99. I thought he managed the night pretty well.

Mike V. said...

Strain - Watched, good flashbacks, good rescue mission.

NEW TV: I set the TiVo for a bunch of stuff but I doubt I'll watch much. Based on early reviews, sounds like a lot of stuff is regurgitation of the same crap. But, you never know what will catch on. So I set TiVo for:

Muppets (we'll definitely check this out)
Blind Spot
Minority Report
Limitless
Blood and Oil (my wife wants to watch but it's a bad timeslot)

I think that's all I set. But yeah, not planning to pick up most off the bat. I'll let the DVR build up!

Gotham tonight! Jensen gave it a pretty average review. Matt Roush (former tv guide) seemed a little more favorable, but still thinks the show needs a jolt of humor/fun.

Not sure I'm ready for the onslaught of Fall TV. I've liked the pace I've been watching stuff all summer! Speaking of:

FTWD - Probably will watch that tonight.

Oh yeah...I'm recording Heroes too and probably will suffer through it because I'm a glutton for punishment! lol

Strain--I liked the flashbacks a lot, confirmed his character--or lack thereof.
But, seriously nobody thought dutch was in trouble. If they had killed her off then that would have been brave. I hate it when shows threaten what is an indespensible cast member like it's going to be the death but yet we all know it won't be. It's just silly. Which leads to Scorpion premier.

Scorpion--that's right, they can't quit trying to continually add immenent disaster on top of immenent disaster threatening a lot of lives or key player lives. I'm getting bored with the same storyline. And Paige/Walter need to grow up, quit acting like high schoolers. Convenient that the son is on the other side of the continent. That story line was explained well, just that it makes Paige "more available".

Strain - Yeah I thought the same thing with the Dutch rescue mission. Still...the whole experience drives her and fet (sp?) back together. So it makes it a useful plot device.

Scorpion - I quit the show last year. It's a procedural. what do you expect!!? lol I'm sure it's still entertaining from episode to episode, but I just don't have time for it (correction: don't want to spend the time to watch it! lol)

Gotham - Decent premiere, despite the reviews. Got into the Batcave...loved that the password was Bruce and he couldn't figure it out so they blew it up. lol The Villains storyline may be a little silly...and are we really meant to believe that Barbara has just lost her SH**? lol But, it's definitely a premise they can work with for the season. Gordon getting a little dirty for the better good is an interesting angle to take with him too.

Didn't watch any of the new stuff but recorded Minority Report and Blind Spot.

Ship, MJ check this out.
http://timesofsandiego.com/military/2015/09/21/widows-sue-navy-alleging-ship-flaws-contributed-to-pilots-deaths/

I can't believe their pulling the old training routine vs just a failure of common sense.

Richard

MJ said...

Navy - yeah - they know the ship design is appalling but let's blame the way the captain drove the ship. Can't sue the Military though.

New Shows - have all those except Blood & Oil. I think there are bets going around what gets cancelled first Blood/Oil or Rosewood. I will look at Rosewood cause I think it has Taye Diggs but not hopeful. Minority Report got a very bad review today. Strangely Tivo set up a crap load of new One Passes for fall shows for me a few weeks ago - don't know how or why. had to delete a bunch. I have a few others also on my list that you don't. Yes to Heroes - but 2 hrs means won't be watching it that night. Also Scream Queens - can't resist that one but also 2 hours.

Strain - ugh - that part when Eichorst makes her take her pants off and turn around made me squirm. I kept thinking there is no way they go there ! Actually Richard - I did get a vibe that they might kill her for a short time. But more scarily they almost went with what I already described. LOL

FTWD - Liza is in so much trouble when she gets back ! I think Madison will slap the crap out of her for causing Nick to be taken - kinda like she slapped the crap out of Nick for his junkie ways. It was pretty low of him to be lying under tht guys bed stealing some morphine and lying about being clean though. I know junkies will do what they have to to get their fix but why lie and say you are clean - surely he had to know that the morphine wasn't going to last and then he'd be outted as not being clean ! Chris is still a whiner but it's true what madison said to Travis - spend a little time with him and have an actual conversation. Kinda sad at the end - the people flashing the lights for help in the end shoot themselves - or did the army go in and kill them after Travis told them they were there ? Didn't think of that til just now for some reason. Interesting that they have the army removing the 3 people from the safe zone who have the best chance of dying and changing. 2 eps left - and that means 3 weeks til TWD ! Yay !

Gotham - I saw some improvement over last year. Bruce is more adultish. Gordon actually operated in the grey area instead of being so goody goody, though he is still so stiff. They found something to do with Barbara - but a villian ? Really ? LOL Don't know that I am buying that - social butterfly to bad guy !! This show doesn't know how to write women apparently cause now Morena Baccrin (sp?) is the new Barbara - just hanging around with nothing to do. But Barbara will come after her so that shouldn't last too long. Just read your comments Mike - see we say the same thing. I think the crazy/silly villans is how they are trying to bring some fun.

Life in Pieces - wasn't a bad show. Such great talent had to check it out. Was amusing - will watch again.

Minority report/Blindspot - did not get to see them yet

Mike V. said...

New Shows - Yeah forgot about scream queens. I set TiVo for that too. I totally agree on Blood and Oil. I'm not even getting invested. lol Saw minority report got a bad review. May wait to start that one and see how if it improves.

FTWD - I don't know if it's the time of night I'm watching but I keep falling asleep while watching it. It's soooooo slow! I mean slower than season 2 of TWD slow! lol But I'm getting through it.

Gotham - I think we kind of said the same stuff! Especially around Barbara. lol

MJ said...

FTWD - LOL on Slower that TWD S2. I'm not having that problem but yes not alot of real action.

Mike V. said...

FTWD - Just reread your comments and realized I didn't interpret the events at all like that. But they certainly did seem like gunshots at the end. I guess it makes sense if they shot themselves but also makes sense that the military went in and took them out. I was just interpreting it as confirmation that there were actually people out there because it was night and they were still seeing light in there. lol

Gotham - Funny, I didn't even get to the point of your comments where you said we said the same thing...so then I said the same thing AGAIN! :)

Maybe I'm still sleepy today! lol

MJ said...

FTWD - have since read that it was the National Guard who went in and hunted them down and killed them.

Blindspot - wasn't bad. Def like Blacklist in that there will be the deeper mystery while doing cases of the week.

TWD - just watched the finale last night. Had watched all of the season earlier in summer but saved the final 2 eps til closer. Can't wait for it to be back.

Gotham - Ian from Shameless does a really good Joker FYI Wonder if he won't be on Shameless this year ?

Bastard Executioner--Getting to be really good. You need to pay attention and so I don't think most will get it. It's a serial and so that's usually a problem too. But interesting that it's by SOA creator and stars his wife too.

http://deadline.com/2015/09/bastard-executioner-review-kurt-sutter-fx-1201514029/

And for me, it doesn't have the nonsense of made up drama--lol.

Gotham--Barbera and Leslie both have had dark sides all along. Barb going nutso is strange though. But just waiting for Leslie to take a trip on the wild side. Gordon and Penguin can't last and I was disappointed in Gordon going bad for a common good. And yes a more adult Bruce suggesting that route was interesting. I think the show intentionally wants to put front and center both the good and bad of the characters. I think Gordon is supposed to be played stiff btw. One of my favorite scenes was with him at the bar with his old partner.

I think the show also telegraphed that Gordon's work will become a problem for his relationship with Leslie.

The new Comissioner will of course not be there at some point, I'm betting she gets killed and that results in a stepping up of police action.

These new baddies, the psycho rich guy and his psycho sister are wanting to unleash chaos it seems. I'm not sure if chaos is the goal or if it's a diversion for another action? This chaos was predicted in last years finale when Falcone left.

Gotham--btw I laughed when Bruce and Alfred turned on the desk lamp after blowing the door down. The concussive forces of that blast would have disabled the lamp and many other things in that room. So, yes the letter sitting in exactly the same place as his Dad left it was hard to swallow too.

I was literaly watching as they approached the lamp and said, NO, they aren't going to turn it on are they--lol. There was other problems with that whole explosion line like the cave in that would have resulted from the blast. But, again I'm bringing in too much real world experience--lol.

FTWD - I kinda feel like an idiot in hindsight. But, in my defense, I was asleep! lol

TWD - Nice! I think I remember enough of what happened. I'm ready! Not sure if I'm ready for recapping again, but I'll get there. lol

Blindspot - That sounds pretty much like what I heard. I'll leave it on the DVR and get to it eventually. Need to ask the Mrs. which ones she's planning to watch too.

Muppets - It was pretty funny! We're already muppets fans so this take on it is right in our wheelhouse.

Gotham - Didn't the military find him in Shameless? I think I remember when I saw that happen I thought, "that opens him up to play Joker on Gotham!" lol Who is Leslie? Catwoman? lol (or girl for now) I thought the same about Gordon. but I guess they want to make him a more intriguing character by giving him a bit of an edge. Yeah, I'm sure Harvey (his partner) will come back into the trenches soon. But the bar scenes were good.

Bastard Executioner - I think we told you it was a Kurt Sutter series (of SOA fame)....and his wife was a main character in SOA too. lol She also was Peggy Bundy and Helen on LOST (among many other things) Still not convincing enough for me to watch. Sutter got a little over indulgent in the final seasons of SOA so I can only imagine what this new series is like. I still loved SOA, but I just have too much on my plate!

Anonymous said...

Leslie is the doctor he met at ARkham. She was on Firefly.

Hard to believe she was Peggy. I forgot you mentioned that. I like this much more than SOA btw. Probably because I can relate to some of its' historical context and enjoy the time frame moreso.

Richard

MJ said...

Gotham - who is Leslie you are both talking about ?

MJ said...

Gotham - her characters name is Leigh (lee) Not sure of spelling. LOL

Gotham, from wiki

Morena Baccarin as Leslie Thompkins – Morena Baccarin was cast in October 2014.[31] Baccarin was promoted to a series regular for the second season, after recurring in the first season.[32]

IMBD has the same. But, I'm sure you're right about them calling her Lee for short.

Richard

MJ said...

Gotham - that is so funny. I swear he calls her Lee - but maybe I'm wrong.

Scream Queens - OMG ws this funny. Probably not anyone elses cup of tea - righ in line with any good snark filled slasher movie. They did it pretty well.

Limitless - not bad. We shall see where it goes.

Minority Repot - eh ! I've seen worse but it was not as bad as some of the reviews. WIll also see where this one goes.

Muppets - was very cute. Laughed a few times. Will be a good mindless half hour show to watch before going to bed some nights.

Anonymous said...

LImitless--you're correct--not bad. I think possibly could be good. Liked having Bradley in for a while. This could be a rarity where my wife and I may like the same show--lol.

I've seen that girl in something else, but just can't place her.

Gotham on Leslie/Lee--I couldn't remember her name and so googled it. So, I think you're likely correct with the name they're using on the show vs IMBD, ETC.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Minority Report - Not even going to watch...it bombed in the ratings.

Limitless - Didn't get to it yet but I heard Bradley Cooper makes an appearance.

Scream Queens - Still on my list, but ratings weren't terrific.

Muppets - Yep, the office meets muppets...I liked it. lol

Gotham - Have no idea if she's Leslie or Lee, but both sound familiar. lol

Mike V. said...

Modern Family - Hasn't skipped a beat. Still great!

MJ said...

Limitless - she was Dexter's sister. Tink Bradley will pop in and out several times - saw his name as a co-producer credit

Muppets - actually seems more of a Muppets meets 30 Rock since it's about making a show. And a crazy blonde diva. LOL

Ratings - I don't go by that any more since almost no one is watching live any more. Once the plus 7 comes in then that is telling.

Scream Queens - was over the top but I liked it. Showing my age now but I did not recognize Joe Jonas or Ariana Grande - but had heard of them.
