TV Discussion - April - June 2017

Hello Fellow TV Addicts!  This is our place to discuss all non-recapped shows.  We won't have any other recaps until Game of Thrones returns in July, so we can discuss things here for awhile.  If the comments get too high, I'll post another one.  See you in the discussion!

NOTE: Comments are onto page 2!   I'll put a new post up soon.

Onto page 2 of comments!!

Saul - Yeah he's most likely dead, but they sure wouldn't state it right out on talking saul. And you know the ol' TV rule...if they don't show it, then he's not. They could go a route where he survives but he's in a different state. like vegetative. So the final exchange between Jimmy and Chuck would still stand. But yeah..he's probably done outside of stories from the past. Blockbuster was fantastic, but I was trying to remember what year we're in..is it early 2000s? Because those were definitely DVDs and not VHS tapes that Kim was picking up. lol Ahh I wrote that before I read you said it was 2003. lol Yes on Nacho...what's next for him? He's gotta be out of the mix before saul is over, but I could see him working for Gus. Yes Gus saved Salamanca...but we finally saw what transformed him into breaking bad state! Good finale...no Mike though.

iZombie - I watched. I was trying to figure out how they'd keep Major in town...yep..blow up his new girlfriend and all of his friends. ouch! Liv's visions of Ravi were hilarious.

Thrones - I think the spoiler was more on the suggested "REAL NAME" of Jon. But, I'm not too worried about that! lol Yeah...I never was thinking about the marriage either...it's just something I'm starting to think about because him being part Stark part Targaryan is one thing...but if he was truly not a bastard that would be something even bigger. And it would such that he was raised as one his whole life. And yes...might makes right.

I've always thought Dany and Jon would be aligned in the end against the threat from the north. But, I never really considered their marriage. Guess we'll see! Excited for this season. I'm a little upset I won't be able to recap the first ep due to travelling, but I'll definitely put a discussion post up.

Thrones - new trailer! (didn't watch yet)

i Zombie - Loved Liv getting ravi's sex scenes in her visions. How wonderfully horrible ! And Clive afraid of the germs. And they brought back te old Zombie in a freezer thing - but added a suicide zombie ! So much for the Filmore-Graves army with the exception of Major and Justin. Poor Natalie. When she came back (loved that she wore the tshirt) I knew Major would never get to Italy with her. Hate that the finale is next week.

GofT - they like to do the unexpected so we all think Jon or Auntie Dany will have the throne at the end - which means they won't. LOL The thought of Dany marrying her nephew is just yuck !

Saul - they did state with the show doing forward and backwards scenes that we could still see Chuck. I could not remember if Nacho was in BB or not truthfully. And for Salamanca - we don't quite know yet if he is in his future state. We just saw that he was revived.

iZombie - It can't be a coincidence that the dude in charge of Fillmore Graves was keeping Liv occupied during that bombing can it? I bet he's involved somehow. I know, he's supposed to be the one keeping it covered up, but that seems like the kind of twist these shows would do. Yeah...that sucks for Natalie...she could've been a fun character to keep around for a bit.

Thrones - lol it is indeed yuck. of course so is brother/sister fathering children! lol Granted, they're all off the map now! Yeah...Dany/Jon have a bigger battle ahead of them than who sits on the throne. And one or both may die for the cause. Maybe Tyrion will be in charge when all is said and done. lol But maybe some of the ideals carried forth from Dany and Jon would stick. (i.e. break the wheel.....kingdoms aren't ruled by families but some other way...) That's all very Disney ending though..lol

Saul - I don't think nacho was on BB. The first time I remember seeing that actor was Sarah's ex on Orphan Black. lol

Thrones trailer--points to what we've been thinking. The pack survives.

And of course this goes to a millenia old threat which reoccurs after it is forgotten. I like the idea of the ancient being current.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Thrones - yeah I posted a couple weeks ago about how they may take their time with final season and deliver some really crazy final episodes. (How could you not see that in the 206 comments?? :) lol) maybe we'll get winds to hold us over in between. Doubt it! Lol

Anonymous said...

GoT, doubt it--agreed. Rewatched EP1, winter is coming. Continue to pick up on many small lines that really have a lot of meaning. Most from that Ep are dead. Fewer Starks and the Lannisters mainly remain. And or course Targaryaens.

Wasn't that Petyr's voice over on the trailer? Showing sophie in Ep 1 vs that trailer of course displays her changes.

Richard

Mike V. said...

Thrones - I watched the trailer with closed captions (no sound) because I was at work...and it did say the voiceover was littlefinger. Nice on the Ep1 rewatch. I'm through seasons 1 and 2 of this Binge Mode podcast. They're doing some solid recapping and talking context through all future episode knowledge.

MJ said...

iZombie - I didn't think of that guy keeping Liv out of the bombing cause he was only with her cause she came on to him due to the CDC chicks brains. And lets face it - there are a finite amount of people you can sleep with if you are a zombie.

Gof T - definitley Baelish talking - and skulking by that stone wall.

Saul - that's where I know that actor !

Orphan - speaking of - I have seen the first one. But know a spoiler from the second.

Mike V. said...

iZombie - touché! lol

Orphan - I'm all caught up so know the spoiler first hand. lol

GOT, a great video on S7, combo of trailers, etc.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AT80qv4syrc&feature=youtu.be

I love the statues representing the various houses crumbling down then a shot of what could be interpreted as a broken wheel.

Richard

MJ said...

Orphan - All Caught up ! RIP MK - and what a horrible way to be killed. I knew a clone died but did not know which one - and honestly thought it would be Cosima. Was a little heart breaking when Kira refused to go on the lamb yet again - choosing to work with Rachel so she can find out why she is like she is. But I do love Helena ! But the cops new partner has to die ! LOL. And for some reason I'd forgot all about Ainsley and Leaky under the garage floor! But Alison walking in with Leaky's head in a bag was hysterical.

OITNB - watched the first 3 eps of the new season.

Mike V. said...

GoT - Nice supercut trailer. Good stuff. Getting excited!

Orphan - yeah this last episode was Alison's episode to shine I'm guessing. The head in the bag was awesome. lol As was her husband drinking the pills. Yeah Kira refusing to go was pretty rough. Also crazy that she sensed when MK died.

OITNB - May start it soon. My wife was binging the last few seasons of The Vampire Diaries...I watched here and there then watched the series finale with her. So maybe we're ready. lol

Iron Fist - Into episode 2. It's not horrible. Haven't watched enough to say if it's any good yet. lol But I don't notice too much lower of a quality than the other ones were. Though, I think Jessica Jones was the standout of the group so far. That season is the most memorable to me. I think Defenders will come to Netflix in July.

MJ said...

Friends from College - netflix show with Cobie Smulders. I intend to check it out but not hearing very good things.

Iron Fist - really ? I know lots who did not care for it. Critics and fans who liked the others were not thrilled with this one. My fave was season 1 of Daredevil, then Jessica Jones. Then Season 2 Daredevil and then Luke Cage. So far any way. But i do intend to watch iron Fist as well.

I recently finished Feud. Next will be Underground or Humans. My SyFy shows are back too though.

Mike V. said...

Friends from College - haven't heard much about it. Didn't even realize Cobie Smulders was in it. I did see Josh Radnor (Ted) is going to be on an NBC show being a high school drama instructor.

Iron Fist - Yeah...I'm probably not into it far enough yet to have much of an opinion. But, I'm curious enough to keep watching. I know the only reason it exists is to round out The Defenders, so that's a pretty poor reason to create a 13 episode show. lol But, it's not horrible yet. Season 1 of Daredevil definitely was good as well. I rank it up there with JJ season 1.

I watched season 2 of Humans. Probably won't remember everything but feel free to post your thoughts about it when you watch. lol

Still pondering watching Legends season 1 and 2 as well since you said season 2 gets better.

MJ said...

Had not heard that about Josh Radnor ! LOL

Humans - ok will do

Legends - yeah season 1 the Time Guy was a drag, as was the big bad. But Season 2 was fun and crazy.

Mike V. said...

Legends - Okay, maybe it won't be as bad binging it.

Iron Fist - Still okay. Maybe a little corny, but I'm still okay with it. Couple subtle references to the Avengers New York Incident and daredevil so far...and a cameo from another character from Jessica Jones. (Not spoiling) I'm 3.5 episodes in and I'll probably finish regardless of how weird it gets. lol

Mike V. said...

Better call Saul - Renewed for s4. No surprises there! I'll be surprised if they go past 5 though. lol (Since BB technically didn't. They did have a 6 year series though with the 2 halves of s5 and 2 years of production. But thematically it was one season.)

Mike V. said...

Thrones - the exclusive access to producers and character interviews are starting to surface. Here's showrunners:

http://ew.com/tv/2017/06/28/game-of-thrones-showrunners-season-7/

Littlefinger interview too: http://ew.com/tv/2017/06/28/game-of-thrones-littlefinger-arya/

MJ said...

Saul - yeah I heard. Agree - thinking 4 or 5 seasons.

iZombie - still have not watched. Husband had eye surgery (cataract) so waiting til he can see better. LOL You can post if you want though

Have a good weekend everyone ! And Happy 4th !

Mike V. said...

iZombie - naaa I can wait! lol Hopefully I still remember what happened. :)

Happy 4th to you as well. Hope your husband has a speedy recovery!

MJ said...

OITNB - finished this. Odd season - kinda high on the comedy aspect of it all. But still good.

Humans - started this. I think I watched the first 2. Nothing to note though.

Mike V. said...

I was going to start a new thread for July, but we have like a week and change until Game of Thrones starts. So maybe we can handle going to page 2 of comments until then. lol

(REMINDER: I will not be able to recap the season premiere, but I'll still have a separate post for discussion)

OITNB - We're 4 or 5 episodes in. The Idol/Litchfield's got talent episode was pretty funny. But the fact that it feels like this prison riot is going to be the whole season is a little much! The last episode we watched was when Tastee(sp) had her emotional plea to the press. I think we are seeing what the focus of this season is now. More preaching on social issues.

Humans - Yeah...You might not have much to note until the end of the season. lol

Iron Fist - I say ignore the critics. It wasn't the best Marvel Netflix show, but it wasn't horrible. And I feel it's a good backstory for Iron Fist for when Defenders will be released in August. (I looked it up that's only going to be an 8 episode series) Plus it has 2 game of thrones actors in it. Granted, one of them is a sand snake (still), but she's better on this. lol

Goldbergs - almost done season 2!

GoT--do you think Jaime might kill Cersei? Rewatched some of the old eps and he wasn't happy with her at the end. Tyrion is likely going to be on opposing forces vs Jaime. The witch's prophesy seems to indicate Dany will replace Cersei. Who knows for how long and Dany's vision when she walked around the burned out throne room seems to show it might not be worth much. Tyrion and Jaime have always been close and NOBODY has had Tyrion's back better than Jaime.

Also, is there some more wildfire left? Tyrion knows all about it and had lots stored. It was used twice---Blackwater and the Sept by Cersei. But in thinking about the burned out thrown room I'm just wondering if Tyrion may use some of the wildfire to fight Cersei?

Richard

Mike V. said...

GoT - At the end of season 6 Jaime certainly did not look happy with the turn of events. In the books he was certainly pissed at her at this point (for different reasons). The prophecy seemed to indicate (at least in the book) that a brother would kill Cersei, right? I don't think that came up in the show. I still think Arya is a possibility too.

That's a good point with the wildfire. He told the pyromancer (I think that was his name) that he was no longer to make wildfire for cersei, but for him. So he may have a secret stash somewhere. We were meant to believe they used all of it in Blackwater...but that would be a nice twist if he stashed it somewhere.

Anonymous said...

GOT--yea, a younger brother is to kill Cersei per the witch in the book. But, that wasn't on the show. I have been thinking about Jaime's golden hand. That was a big turn off for Cersei in the show and the book. She made it a wedge between them. SOO, I was could see him killing her with it. I mean he confessed his love for her(basically) when he was negotiating with the Tulley and Frey people when he said he would basically kill them all quickly to get back to her. Then when he saw her it seemed he was devestated. AND in a way horrified at what she had become. The thing is too that Cersei wasn't that big of a deal in the books. I think the show plays her up for obvious reasons.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of Tyrion and wildfire! Of course most(including me) have assumed that the dragons were the ones who destroyed the throne room with fire.

Richard

MJ said...

G of T ep list. Most come in around an hour. One clearly not even an hour but the 2 last eps are pretty long. I can def see Jamie killing Cersei. Especially if it comes down to her refusing to give up scenario where it will kill many or harm the city. He started the series as a less then honorable knight who killed his king. Sure he's redeemed himself - but he has proven he will take out someone for the right reasons. I do not however think Tyrion would kill her - not unless he absolutely had to.

Episodes

Season 7 consists of just seven episodes, versus the usual 10.

Episode 1: 59 minutes, directed by Jeremy Podeswa (directed “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken,” “Home”)
Episode 2: 59 minutes, directed by Mark Mylod (directed “The Broken Man,” “No One”)
Episode 3: 63 minutes, directed by Mark Mylod
Episode 4: 50 minutes, directed by Matt Shakman (new to Game of Thrones)
Episode 5: 59 minutes, directed by Matt Shakman
Episode 6: 71 minutes, directed by Alan Taylor (directed “Baelor,” “Valar Morghulis”)
Episode 7: 81 minutes, directed by Jeremy Podeswa

Gbergs - I'd forgotten you were still watching that.

OITNB - yeah the riot is def the whole season. Some people thought talent show was dumb - but it was humorous. They def outline mental health and peoples reactions to mental illness. And motherhood is a big theme too. So surely by now you know about who accidently got stuck in the prison during the riot ?

Iron Fist - we will def watch. Just started S1 of Grace and Frankie - heard it was very funny and has been lingering on my list for 3 seasons now.

GOT

Thanks for the info. I agree, seriously doubt Tyrion killing Cersei. Looks like the last ep is going to be the big one. Probably with a big battle--maybe the one with the wall coming down. I could see the remaining 2 seasons having 3 big battles.
1 with Dany vs Westeros power brokers, 1 with a ice vs fire battle with the fire loosing ground and a finale with ice vs fire where fire wins. The last assumes that Martin had planned all along for the "good guys to win" of which I'm not 100% sure.

I rewatched Winds of Winter again. As always you pick up different things on a rewatch. Let me know when you rewatch it. But, I might suggest looking at a few things.

1. Sansa and Litlefinger. She actually says she can see them on the Iron Throne--in a way. Then watch her when they all say King of the North for Jon Snow. She and Littlefinger are probably the only 2 not cheering.

2. The Stark family has no future, it's legacy is done for. No men left to have children. This assumes Bran can't or won't. Essentially when this generation passes, just like the Lanisters--it's done for. Makes me think that what Dany wants--to break the wheel--is already happening. The Tyrrell's are done for too. I think the Greyjoy's will be also given I can't see Euron surviving. Martells and Baratheons are done for. Think about that for a minute--almost all the houses have NO future. I can't recall about the Tullys for sure(I think they have heir potential) but we know the Frey's are done too. The only major houses with a future are Arryn(the Vale) and the Targaryans--Jon and Dany. But, something makes me think that Dany's breaking the wheel is naive when you consider that many houses have gone extinct before and she doesn't know about the threat from the Night King nor does she have an understanding of the ancient threats that eventually come around.

3. The tower of joy baby eyes fading to Jon Snow makes it clear that he's for sure not a Stark.

4. The Mormont girl getting the crowd behind Jon had as the basis of her support the assumption that Jon has Stark blood running through his viens. This combined with Peter and Sansa not cheering makes me wonder if Peter knows something about Jon that they might use to dethrone him. Note that Sansa does not seem during any of the last 2 eps to be ALL IN for Jon. But to me, seems to be using him as a tool. Much like what she's seen other ladder climbing leaders do.

5. I forgot about Varys showing up during Ollena and Ellaria's meeting at Dorne. Isn't he pulling for Targaryans. He may know about the wildfire too?

6. We spent 6 seasons building for winter. Now it seems we will only have PORTIONS of 2 plus this ep for winter itself.

7. Benjen can't go past the wall because of it's magic. Nothing dead can pass the wall. I can see the wall coming down this season in the last ep as stated above.

8. I think Bran will make Winterfell this season. That could complicate Jon being King of the North too. Since he's a legitimate Stark.

Richard

Mike V. said...

GoT - Yeah they said the finale will be the longest episode of Game of Thrones to date. But they also have the shortest episode to date too (still 50 minutes). But all in all, even with 7 episodes they're still filming about the same amount of show. I also read a rumor that the final season may all be feature length film size. (i.e. they compared length to episodes of Sherlock)

@Richard - I think GRRM said the ending will be bittersweet. I take that as victorious, but not without losses. lol

I've already rewatched Winds when I got the Blu-Ray around Christmas. But I've easily forgotten details by now. I'm still binging through this Binge Mode podcast though and they do fill in some nice background on each episode. (on season 4 now)

1. Definitely remember and noticed the Littlefinger/Sansa stuff on first watch. I think it’s intended to be ambiguous and definitely setting up a next season conflict. Littlefinger’s meddling continues.

2. Interesting that the oldest family lines may not survive. Makes sense…though I always saw the end as there being redemption for the Stark line. Ned’s honor is already restored after confirming what he did for his sister. (i.e. he didn’t have a bastard child. He protected his sister’s son.)

3. “You may not have my name, but you have my blood.” Ned says that to Jon the last time they talk. He may not have the Stark name, but he has Stark blood running in his veins. Same as any child of Arya or Sansa. But yes…the name cannot carry on based on what we know. I always thought Rickon would survive to do that. And I still think that may be a book possibility.

4. Why would you think Jon doesn’t have Stark blood? He is Lyanna’s son! As far as everyone up north knows he’s still a bastard son of Ned Stark. So he doesn’t have the Stark name either. A King could change this. (btw…people still think Robb’s will in the books will come into play to legitimize Jon Snow as a Stark. But…obviously it’s more complicated than that since his father is Rheagar Targaryan)

5. Dany forged an alliance with the Martells thanks to Varys. In that final scene with the ships you see Targaryan, Martell and maybe Greyjoy banners. (I’m pretty sure) But if you’re wildfire theory is correct, then yes I’m assuming Varys would know too.

6. Same concept as the book. The threat of Winter coming was a major theme in the story….Winter arriving signifies the end battle and near the climactic part of the series.

7. Yep….I think the wall is coming down this season as well. Though I thought it would be last season so what do I know? Lol It would make sense that going into the final season the wall is down. This season may be about resolving the Westeros conflicts with Dany coming East. But then it all is dwarfed by the coming storm from the North.

8. I really don’t think Bran would challenge Jon for the throne. Jon saved Winterfell. Unless Sansa falls for Littlefinger’s tricks and tries to align Bran on her side. But that’s just silly. It’s too late in the game for too much Stark infighting.

Gbergs - finished season 2. Still good stuff.

OITNB - If you're referring to Nina from Fringe aka the Martha Stewart of this show...yes I know she got stuck in there. But they just released her in the episode I was watching. Didn't get any further last night.

GOT
4--Yes, you're right. He does have Lyanna Stark's blood, but that's not where the lineage comes from and that's what I was thinking. Lyanna's blood may be enough to satisfy those who may challenge Jon.

1 and 8--Yes, and her ambiguity is in itself a problem. IE, that's the definition of not being ALL IN for Jon. I think she and Littlefinger could play a pivotal role as the Vale is between the North and South. Consider the following thoughts about the upcoming S7.

1. GOT always has multiple things going on in multiple places. So, I'm thinking a North and South centric season for the most part.
2. Dany lands at Dragonstone and comes down from the North to attack KL. Those in Dorne will come up from the South to provide a pincer move on KL.
3. Meanwhile Jon will be up North preparing for the Night King. Bran will show up and provide pivotal help. (It COULD be an opportunity to challenge Jon?) There will be a lot of activity around this.
4. The Vale is between the North and South. And so Littlefinger will get word of the Dany landing(may already know she's coming?). Then he will consider that he may need to choose sides between Jon and Dany. I'm not certain, maybe even doubt that Dany will attack Jon as things are playing out. Littlefinger may believe she might attack Jon, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I could see some drama with Sansa and Littlefinger trying to figure out a way to come out on top somehow since they could go either way.
5. I suspect that Jon will fight the Night King and loose as the wall comes down in the last ep. Dany will not likely be in the ice vs fire fight this season. And that last point is why I think there will be some time for political drama.

Just some thoughts anyway. Fun to speculate now tha the season is approaching.

Richard

Mike V. said...

GoT

Old 4. I just assumed he has the North behind him. I would think Lyanna and Rhaegar’s blood give him a legitimate claim to the Iron Throne. Whether he wants it or not is another thing all together. That said…what you said about Littlefinger knowing something…there’s a good chance he does. He certainly provided Sansa with stories about her Aunt Lyanna in the crypt.

Old 1/8:

1. Well it’s had multiple things going on because people were all over the map. But yeah not everyone is consolidated still so North and South makes sense. (don’t forget Sam in Oldtown too)

2. I don’t disagree with this. We’ll have to remember Euron’s fleet of 10,000 ships that he’s building in his spare time will be coming at sea. But who will he support? Cersei or Dany?

3. I guess it’s possible that Jon/Bran will be at odds…but I never got that feeling since Bran was trying to get to Jon for 3 seasons. I do wonder if Dany and Jon will meet this season. I’ve heard the show is “faster moving” so there’s no telling how much may happen in these 7 episodes.

4. All good speculation. I just never saw Jon/Dany being at odds when I envisioned her coming East…but I just assumed the thread from north of the wall would be here when she got here. Didn’t think about all the conquering she might do before that. I guess if someone is coming with an army, a fleet and 3 dragons everyone is going to see her as a threat. Then again…she has Tyrion as her advisor…and if Tyrion learns that Jon has been proclaimed king of the north, he may counsel Dany into forming an alliance.

5. You don’t think Jon will be in the final season? I gotta disagree with you there especially after all the effort (off-screen and on screen) to raise him from the dead and the show going so far to say how important he is to the end game.

Definitely fun to speculate. Something we couldn’t do in prior seasons. Well actually, you and I always went into “spoiler” sections of these posts to predict the future of the series/books. Lol Now we’re here. Crazy stuff.

Legends of Tomorrow - Forgot to say...started it this morning. On season 1 episode 3. Not bad so far. Definitely corny, but I don't mind corny. lol Plus I'm a sucker for time travel shows. Speaking of...I still need to finish Timeless now that it's coming back. I do have some time before next summer tough!

MJ said...

OITNB - Nope - not Nina. Hmm - One of Caputos conquests. She works for MCC or MMC - whatever the company that runs the prison. She'd be hanging with Piper and Alex in the early days of the riot

Legends - Cool. The Egyptians got on my nerves big time. LOL And I was not the only one. And Rip Hunter did eventually as well.

Timeless - yes ! that show improved as it went for sure. I was very unhappy it got cancelled at first. So weird how they cancelled then un-cancelled it though. LOL

Mike V. said...

Ointb- ohh yeah I did see her. I'm confused to how she's a prisoner. lol I did fall asleep during a couple eps so I must've missed something. Lol

Legends - I can see that. I did see rip has a bit of history he doesn't want the others to know. But don't know enough yet.

Timeless - yeah I think I have like 4 eps to watch. It has been good. But similar to oitnb always have been watching while tired and kept falling asleep. Lol these kids tire me out!!

GOT, most all great points! Great on LF.
1. Yes, Sam at Oldtowne, another storyline.

2. From the almost misandrist/lesbo scene between Dany and Yara I would say he'd have a hard time getting to be on Dany's side! Those 2 are after Euron since they basically said he was misogenistic(which he just might be). It's possible Euron beats Yara at sea, but I doubt it. And that adds a 4th battle to the list unless it's part of the taking of KL by Dany.

3. I'm not saying JOn and Bran will be at odds. I"m saying that those who don't support Jon will use Bran as a reason to dethrone Jon. IE, LIttlefinger and/or Sansa.

4. Exactly, much to do around KL and the Iron Throne. As per my 4 above, I kind of doubt Dany and Jon fighting whereas before I was leaning more that they would. I'm still pulling for a Targaryan incest wedding though, LOL!!

5. Yes, I think Jon will be around. But, many can survive a lost battle. I think some will be lost when the wall comes down but that JOn will survive. My thought is that it adds urgency, need and motivation to Dany when she hears that Jon's army was run over and only partially survived. It also provides a need to bring Melisandre back into the fold.

Something occured to me re Dany and the last ep. Tyrion had her break up with Daario so that she could possibly use marriage as a part of negotiations.

Any Speculation on who she might consider in that arrangement??? Littlefinger or Jaime seem to be the most likely candidates since I'm thinking meeting Jon will come later. There's really no one else with any power, except for women. Oh wait a minute, that's it--Dany and Ellaria, lol. I don't see Dany and Yara consummating things, but who knows.

In many ways, this season seems 100% the most predictable and it doesn't have a book! So, that makes me think and hope that a fair amount of this speculation is rubbish!

I'll respond to your post shortly...Hibberd just posted an interview with Kit Harrington about tension with Sansa. lol That was timely.

Mike V. said...

GoT

2. yep, possible additional battle or they align with someone and it’s all one grand battle.

3. Ahhh gotcha. That’s possible. I see what you’re saying now.

4. I won’t rule anything out (re: incest wedding lol). That’s a good point with Dany’s breakup too. Guess that’s a good foreshadowing of some wedding to happen. Yeah most options have been taken off the map…so it would seem Jaime or Littlefinger would be the only other current options. Or Tyrion but I don’t think so.

5. I think it’s inevitable that Melisandre and Arya will cross paths this season. Not sure if she’ll get back up North! Lol True on Jon surviving a conflict with Night King.

I think we always saw this having an inevitable conclusion…but you’re right there could be some twists coming our way!

(sorry for brevity…multi-tasking lol)

Twin Peaks - I'm not watching, but it's because I didn't watch the original. I have listened to my regular podcasts though and they talk about it. I think everyone is just enjoying entering into David Lynch's crazy world/mind again...so overall they're liking it. Maybe one day I'll binge it all. lol

Episodes - I saw there is a trailer and that it returns in August. The teaser picture has the trio laying in a coffin because the show is being laid to rest. lol I'm looking forward to the final eps.

Thrones - Hilarious!! I'm still mad at my wife for graduating the same year I did and her class scheduling their 20 year reunion on the weekend it returns! I'm going to have to watch the premiere streaming on my iPad after the kids sleep (they never sleep when they're down there) with crappy wifi. lol But I'm still excited about it!

Legends - finished ep 3, started ep 4. They killed the bad guy and he's come back in 1986. There was already a Top Gun reference. Love it. lol Captain Cold tried to change his father's timeline but he didn't. Looks like they got some course correction logic going similar to LOST. Which is weird because this is the same universe as The Flash and Barry changes history by just sneezing in the past. lol

OITNB - Watched another episode. Some Tastee flashbacks and they burned the Cheetos. lol

Goldbergs - started season 3...Adam is going through puberty and has the awkward squeaky voice. lol Loved him trying to sing Toy Soldiers on the phone to his long distance girlfriend.

Spiderman Homecoming (not spoilery) - Saw it this wknd. I thought they did a really good job with it. I enjoyed the Raimi flicks (especially Spider-man 2), but having Peter be a kid that is actually high school age (already introduced and stole the show in Civil War) and being able to tie it into the MCU were incentives to have yet another retelling of one of the most famous comic-book characters ever. It was an enjoyable film from start to finish with lots of Spidey and Avengers easter eggs hidden in there. Keaton was awesome as the villain too. Looking forward to Infinity War movies and the next stand-alone spidey film.

OITNB - still plowing along. Fell asleep during last night's ep again. lol But there is infighting in the prison now.

Candy Crush the TV Show - Yes, I play the stupid phone game. I gave it up for years then somehow got sucked back in. The app made sure I was aware of the tv version hosted by A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez)....I knew it would be horrible, but still had to see for myself. Anyone remember when Joey Tribbiani auditioned for the game show Bamboozled? This was the real life version of that! It was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. In fact, I'd encourage checking it out just to see how dumb it is. It turns out that watching other people play candy crush even watching teams compete simultaneously playing the game...is not interesting at all! LOL Fast forwarded through the hour long episode in 5-10 minutes. Even that was watching too much of it.

6 days until GAME. OF. THRONES!!!!! (still figuring out my viewing strategy. I'll be in a house full of kids and adults that don't watch. May have to escape to the car and watch on my phone. lol)

OITNB - I never heard of Takis til watching this ep. Or Hot Cheetos either. So you saw Poussey then ? Made me sad. And the guard who accidently killed her also made me sad.

Candy Crush - uh yeah - no thanks.

Legends - I didn't ever watch Arrow but over the 2 seasons I was able to cobble together who/what the blonde was. Can't think of her name now - but is the canary's sister.

Spidey - eh - not sure. I will probably see it eventually. Tired of that whole line of comics - been done so many times. And I didn't think he added all that much to Civil War except stupid jokes. Probably watch when it comes on tv or Red Box evertually.

GofT - how dare they ! LOL

Mike V. said...

OITNB - yep saw Poussey :(....the guard is in bad shape. Agreed. Fell asleep again during the ep last night! Getting the basic gist. I think I saw piscatella sneak in at the end of the ep. And also Nina/Fringe leaked that a guard was shot to the press.

Candy Crush - I only brought it up because of how horrible it was. lol I knew it would be but curiosity got the best of me!

Legends - Yeah the series premiere had Canary in it and they made it pretty clear. lol Don't know "blonde's" name though...so that's funny that you still call her the blonde! lol

Spidey - Yeah...there are a lot more jokes in the movie, but it's the adolescence that they nailed with this incarnation of him. The Spidey movie plays like a John Hughes film set in a super hero universe. There are even some blatant nods to Hughes films (and apparently the director had the cast watch The Breakfast Club to prepare). I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I'm actually surprised how much I was looking forward to this after the Spidey Franchise has been exhausted so much. This is a fresh take and within the MCU....and it's the first movie in the MCU that seems to acknowledge that they live in a world full of super heroes. (comes from High Schooler's eyes) It was handled really well. But yeah...wait for TV works too. lol

GofT - 5 days!!

Salvation--premiere tonight. Anybody going to watch?

OITNB - oh - if you saw Piscatella sneak in then you already know about ?Freids?'s bunker ! I thought it was ridiculous at first - then to find out it's even bigger. Too funny. His story line made no sense to me. Since when were him and Red at such war with eachother ?

Legends - Only because I can't remember her name. Easier then League of Assasins chick. Or chick who should be dead. LOL

Spidey - I thought the first iteration also really came from the adolescent point of view too. Awkward HS kid and his crush on MJ.

Been meaning to say - the 'I'm not a robot thing' has become really painful lately. Makes you go thru like 10 screens selecting stuff now

Mike V. said...

Salvation - not sure I know what that one is. But I'm heading out of town so probably won't be catching it.

OITNB - Yep, we saw the bunker. Hilarious. Piscatella's storyline...no idea. They're playing him up as a villain so I guess they needed some kind of motivation. We watched one more episode that ended with Red finding everyone he captured (the episode played out like a horror movie)....Won't be watching much more until we get back!

Legends - That's what I mean...I just thought it was funny that 2 seasons in you still can't remember her name. I do realize a lot of these shows I binge I really don't know everyone's name. Or maybe it's just a sign of getting older!

Spidey - Yeah they did...but Tobey looked and acted a little older. And they rushed him out of high school and got him working for the bugle and in downtown manhattan. This one they got a younger kid (he's 21 now but when they started he was in his teens lol) and he's playing a sophomore in high school and in Queens the entire time (except for the stint to DC which is all over the previews lol). And they way they set up future ones he'll still be in high school.

Ugh...sorry about the "I'm not a robot" thing. I guess as the site admin I'm allowed to skip it. I have the checkbox but can just click on "publish". Any chance that works for you? If I didn't get so much spam I'd turn it off! (still get spam with it on...more on the LOST blog still lol)

Salvation--I liked it. It's not all engrossing. It's basic serial entertainment. Involving the geniuses, government and save the world stuff.
