New Site!

Hello LOSTIES, Forward Flashers, Idol Watchers and just overall TV lovers!  I'm happy to report that I have locked down this site for future BLOGGING adventures!  Yes, I am the same writer that has poured many hours of my life into the Lost Addicts Blog and some extra hours into blogging about other shows (FlashForward, Idol).   I'm not sure if any show will capture my dedication the way LOST did again, but I still love discussing and writing about TV.  And man do I watch LOTS of it!  (which makes me wonder if I'll even have time to write about it!)   Anyway, I thought this would give me the flexibility to pretty much write about anything that is on my mind at the moment in terms of TV.  (from OLD shows, to NEW....Dramas to Sitcoms, short posts to long recaps, you name it!)

This definitely is a work in progress, but I definitely wanted to get a post out here and allow everyone to start commenting.  Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions.  If I get a chance, I'll update this post with the shows that I am watching, watched but still want to discuss, plan to watch etc...  And then you can let me know what I SHOULD be watching.  And then, we'll just see how in over my head I have gotten myself with such a broad topic BLOG!

8/12 Update: In case anyone is wondering why I haven't started posting, I decided I'm going to officially launch my blogging ventures with the FALL TV premieres.  Sorry for anyone looking for thoughts on Mad Men, Rescue Me and/or True Blood!  I'm watching them all, but summer is just too tough to keep up with blogging!   Keep on voting in the poll and suggesting other shows that I didn't mention!  (by the way, I'm working my way through Breaking Bad right now.  I'm halfway into season 3.  AMAZING show!  Thanks to all of the Lost Addicts who recommended it to me!)

9/13 Update: Based on the polls and my personal preference, I have decided that I will be recapping THE EVENT and FRINGE this season!  But that doesn't mean I will short-change any other shows. Recapping takes a lot of time, but I will try my best to provide quick commentary and initiate discussion for various other shows. If you have any recommendations on shows I should be watching or discussing please let me know!   The majority of FALL TV starts next week!  Get ready for the onslaught!

Thanks to everyone for being such dedicated readers and hopefully, you'll join me on this new venture!   See you soon!

Yo Mike! Can't wait until The Event starts. I hope that is one you will be recapping. Missing your LOST recaps :(

Thanks for the feedback Weasel. I'm guessing The Event will be one that I'm tracking. As far as in-depth LOST-like recaps, I think we need to see how interesting it's going to be first! I don't want to fall into another FlashForward trap. I'll plan to post my thoughts on it and if we start having some in-depth discussions about it, then maybe that's when I know I have a RECAP-Worthy show!

I'm missing my LOST recaps too...so much so that I can't wait to do a recap of the 12 minute epilogue! LOL

About The Event on a TV Guide Buzz Q&A:

Q: So ... what is the event of The Event? — James

A - MICKEY: Great promos, right? As you've seen, there are several strange events that occur within the first hour of NBC's new mystery thriller series. But trust me when I tell you that none of them compares to the one that closes the episode. It will definitely have you wondering what takes place in Episode 2.

Ingriguing! Probably more buzz to come out of Comic-Con for that show among other highly touted new shows. Comic-Con starts Thursday and runs to Sunday FYI.

Looking forward to the new site starting. I'll be here commenting.

Thanks Chris! (I see you added your first name there now, nice lol) I'm looking forward to it too and look forward to your comments!

Thought I would chime in and say congrats on the new site. I've been checking out The Wire as per your recomendation. I'm on Ep. 2. so far so good. I'm just about to the end of Deadwood and have enjoyed that as a ween if you will from Lost greatness. Taking a break from TV for the most part after the finale (Lost) as my brain is still decompressing from it all. Looking forward to the future of this blog for great discussions and your insight Mike.

Mike V. said...

Thanks for chiming in Candidate and for the congrats! (not that it was hard to make, I just paid 10 bucks, got me a URL and put it on the face of a blogger template! lol) Of course, the difficult part will be when I decide to start up writing! Good to see you're watching THE WIRE and DEADWOOD. Funny that you're watching THE WIRE on my recommendation when I never have watched the show yet either. I'm glad you're enjoying it...i'll get there one day. Still thinking about BSG and how awesome that was to run through...and I'm going through Breaking Bad now. Great shows!

Anyone see Mad Men last night? FABULOUS YET AGAIN!

I'm looking forward to continued discussions with all of you as well! I'll probably kick things into gear when FALL TV starts. But if I feel compelled to write about some of these quality summer shows, I may! We'll see. At least we know a LOST post will be coming on the Lost Blog in less than a month!

Keep checking in everyone!

Since I'm seeing some votes for writing about FRINGE here I figured I would share this Ausiello Video interview with the 3 main stars at Comic-Con. You can tell that all 3 of them are really into the show and ambitious on telling a great story. I'm psyched for season 3!

Ausiello interviews Joshua Jackson, Anna Torv and John Noble

Wish we'd be doing Fringe all along ! I def think this should be one you cover as well as Event. The comiccon talk with the chick who plays Astrid revealed a few things too. I adore HIMYM - but don't know how much discussion that it would truly generate, lots of comments - but not real discussion.

Mike V. said...

For the comedies, my guess is that if I posted anything, it would be my favorite quotes from the episode and maybe some of my favorite moments. With HIMYM, maybe speculation on the eventual Mother, but I usually don't get bogged down with that lol I did hear that this season is going to get back on track where last season got a little too "sitcom-my". Take from that what you will! I did hear we might be getting some more Robin Sparkles! lol

Totally agree with The Event and Fringe as top priority shows. That's my view going into this endeavor. Dexter is going to be great too. I'll just have to see how things go! Maybe with some shows it will be just a quick "Discuss this week's episode here" instead of an all out recap. I have to think of some way to maintain my sanity!!

Ah - your Dday has arrived. Bet you are dying to go watch that special tonight. Damon Lindelof tweeted, "I'm so glad we made 'The New Man in Charge.' I was starting to miss getting yelled at." Too funny.

Mike V. said...

Oh yeah...I have a 2-4 meeting and then I'm probably bolting home! lol I'll be posting on the LOST Addicts Blog again for the Epilogue and Other Features. But I'll also be promoting this blog with the post too!

I read that tweet a few weeks ago when he said it...cracked me up. I'm really not getting my expectations too high for the 12 minute epilogue. I'm more just excited that there are 12 minutes more of LOST footage that I can watch! :-) lol Did you already watch it? I know you said you were planning to!

MJ said...

I have seen it. Won't say anything else. ;-P

Mike V. said...

lol, nice. The new blog post is up (on the lost site)! :-)

Mike - loved your Lost blog - can't wait to get the DVD's so I can read your new posting. Ever consider something like Dexter? It is an amazing study in human nature...

Mike V. said...

Thanks Anonymous! Definitely considering Dexter. I caught up on the first 3 seasons last summer and then LOVED season 4 as it aired last year. It is on this site's poll and definitely considering recapping or at least sharing my thoughts each week so we can discuss! That, THE EVENT and FRINGE seem to be the most popular on the poll so far. We'll see how things go!

Lost my whole comment to time!! Double drag.
again....

Hello Mike!
Hello MJ, Stedman, Candidate...nice to read everyone again.
I have missed the Lost blog. I don't mean to be sacreligious, but I don't watch much TV.

I really love Rescue Me, and when Damion got wiped out by the safe the other night, I yelled so loud that I woke the boy! It was sad that there was no one to talk with about it, even in print. I hope that RM is one that you will blog about, I love your take on things.

I hope that you have all had amazing summers!

Looking forward to following your recaps of hopefully something I will watch!

Mike V. said...

Hey Jennifer! The problem with summer tv is that I easily fall behind. There's always a lot of stuff going on. In rescue me's case I am 2 weeks behind so I didn't know what you said yet!! :-(. But it's all good lol it's my fault for falling that far behind. I'd love to tell you I'm gonna recap RM but I'm not sure it's gonna be possible. But since the next season will be the last ten eps maybe I'll consider it! I think ever since the show's low point (season 4), it's been on top of its game! Love it!

MJ said...

Hey gnni4 ! Good to read you again. LOL I also watch Rescue Me, and while it's been good I do feel like it's time to end it. It's getting that been there and done that feel to it - but looking forward to it's last season next year.

Ugh - I watched all of Persons Unknown - it was pretty good overall but wasn't that thrilled with the dialog in the last two eps. The story was good, but the dialog could get pretty bad on the show. And NBC almost screwed those who stayed with it by apparently being secretive about airing the second from the last ep on another day! I went to watch the final 2 and realized that I'd missed one. Luckily I found it online. Idiots !

Mike V. said...

Still haven't watched those 2 episodes of Rescue Me! Might be a 3 episode marathon tonight to close out the season! I do know that they have already filmed the rest of the episodes and that it's technically Season 6 part 1 and part 2 that are airing a year apart. They want to end with the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I hear you MJ on the show getting been there/done that. But there have been some stellar episodes this season. Especially the one when they were looking for Colleen. And I can never get tired of Lou, Sean, Mike and Franco...those guys crack me up! But yeah, they're definitely ending at the right time.

Never watched Persons Unknown so I can't comment! :-) Pretty crazy with NBC though.

A little less than 3 weeks until the onslaught of Fall TV starting! Ironically, that big week (9/19-2/24) is going to be my busiest week at work. I can't catch a break! lol I will try my best to get my thoughts up about The Event though after its premiere on 9/20 and of course Fringe on 9/23! I can't promise LOST-length recaps just yet though, but enough that it will initiate a discussion. So much TV starting that week though...it's gonna be nuts!

Mike V. said...

lol...that's one long week! obviously I meant 9/19-9/24 (not february!)

MJ said...

Yeah I'm starting to scan for some of the finales that I want to see again. Fringe's 2 part Over There 1 & 2 should be on around the 16th I'm assuming since it's not the 2nd or 9th.

Kelly said...

Sons of Anarchy! Sons of Anarchy!! i know you haven't watched it yet but it's a GREAT show!

Mike V. said...

That Fringe Finale was spectacular! I might not mind watching it again either. (BTW...caught up on Rescue Me. Good stuff! Although I thought the finale was just alright. Of course, I'm not sure it was originally intended to be hyped up as a season finale. But whatever!)

Kelly - I keep hearing that about Sons of Anarchy. I would love to watch it, but there's only so much time in a summer and a day! lol Maybe one day I'll get to it.

BTW - As anyone heard about The Walking Dead on AMC? It's a Frank Darabount creation (Shawshank) and it's all about zombies...but it looks REALLY good! lol

you should write about Rubicon. Great new show and I hope it sticks around. There have only been 5 episodes or so but definately a show that has possibilities of theories/alternate understandings, conspiracies etc.

Mike V. said...

Thanks for the recommendation Anonymous! I actually watched the first episode of Rubicon and really enjoyed it. I have the rest of them TiVo'd and totally plan on watching them. The problem has been all of the other Sunday TV I have been wrapped up in. I'm sure Rubicon would be more intellectually stimulating than True Blood and Entourage (maybe not Mad Men but I'm sure since they're paired together it would be close!) But sharing the TV with my wife brings its share of compromises! lol Maybe I'll be able to catch up soon especially with the HBO shows ending next week. Of course, Boardwalk Empire starts then, and I'm really hoping that one doesn't bomb. So much potential!

David S said...

I added my votes, but wanted to mention a comedy that I really enjoy -- "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". The main characters are so off-putting they are hilarious, and I love the cheesy music, too.

Mike V. said...

Thanks David! I love Always Sunny too. (afterall, I live in the Philly area! lol) I actually fell behind on the latest season but have only like 4 episodes left to watch before the new season started. I'm thinking with comedies that I may do some posts about favorite quotes just to generate discussions or something like that. We'll see!

"Dayman, fighter of the nightman! Champion of the Sun!" ahhhh good times.

MJ said...

Rubicon has moved a little too slowly for me - and it's staying on until early October - so I'll be stopping that one. Summer shows just need to end with summer. LOL

Walking Dead looks fab - saw a trailer and am psyched.

The Fringe finale is def 9/16 and 8 and 9pm - llooking forward to seeing it again.

Mike V. said...

Ugh...got an error when I posted. Good thing I didn't post much! lol

I heard about the "slow burn" of Rubicon...it's definitely the reason I've been so hesitant to press PLAY on my TiVo! Maybe I'll get around to it eventually.

Definitely looking forward to Walking Dead! We'll see if it's recap worthy!

Thanks for the heads up on Fringe. Maybe have to set the TiVo to watch that one again. It will be a nice refresher for the 23rd!

MJ said...

Sounds great Mike ! We might have to talk some Chuck too. LOL

Kelly - OMG on last weeks SOA. Who do you think was responsible for the drive-by at the end last week ? Mayans ?

Mike V. said...

Definitely on Chuck. I love that show!! As you can see, it made my cut for the Background Collage lol There were so many more I wanted to add, but I'll stick with this for now. :-)

Hi there, accidentally followed you from my personal Twitter account, and now following you from my entertainment blog account, CelebSquare. Would love to link your blog from mine. I'm a huge fan of "girlie" tv series, but would love to find out about new shows that are not shown here in Malaysia. :)

Debbie, by all means link to my site! I'll secretly tell you that I enjoy some of the "girlie" shows too...I'd just never admit to which ones! :-) lol (Hey, gotta watch some shows with the wife you know!)

Loved The EVENT tonight folks. Lots of potential with that one. I thought about posting a quick post about the other shows I watched last night and tonight, but it may be too time consuming! I'll see what I can do. But stay tuned for THE EVENT Recap!

gnni4 said...

I CAN NOT wait for your The Event Recap! I was sitting on the edge of my chair for most of it! Aaaahhhh, I need your recap and to rewatch it NOW!

So looking forward to it! (And to read a Fringe recap also!)

It's already up Gnni!!! I just posted it. Don't get used to this aggressive timing! I need to go to bed lol
