The Walking Dead: Season 11 Episodes 9 - 16 (Discussion)

Hello everyone!  We’re in part 2 of 3 of the home stretch here.  This show may have overstayed its welcome, but I’ll keep this going for final 2 parts of the final season.  We can discuss each episode after it airs in the comments.  See you there!

Episode 9 - No Other Way

Started the episode last night, but didn’t get through it all. We caught up on those 2 HBO shows so they took precedence. I’ll check it out tonight!

okay…so they finally got supplies, survived the storm, Maggie went all trigger happy, storm troopers showed up and then we time jumped 6 months. I guess they’ll fill in the blanks of why they’re on different sides, but it looks like we’ll be continuing from 6 months later onward. I guess there’s no villains left to fight so they just have to fight each other now? Lol Just bring back Rick and Michonne to save them from themselves and call it a day!

Oh and…so much for not showing a body…looks like Alden did end up turning. Told my wife…took me 5 seasons to remember that dude’s name! But once I saw the house I knew what Maggie was doing.

Watched last night as well. Lol on Alden. Talking Dead said could be other time jumps

Mike V. said...

They do love their time jumps! At this point I don’t even care…let’s just get this show on the road and bring Rick and Michonne back for one last hurrah!

With the HBO slate haven’t been able to fit in TWD on Sundays. Probably can start next week. But then have some time off coming too. Lol Anyway, we’ll probably watch tonight!

Season 11 Episode 10 - New Haunts

Happy endings don’t last forever or at all, as Darryl pretty much alluded to in the episode. SOmething definitely ain’t right in the commonwealth. It was fun watching our dead heads assimilate into their society though. All in different sects….and it’s run by the daughter of the last President of the US? Crazy. Always hilarious to watch Carol work her tricks….and of course she was baking again! Guess there’s a chance Zeke may pull through if he can get the surgery. Maggie is noticeably not there in this 1 month after the encounter at Alexandria. And we saw the flash to 2 months where they’re at odds with each other. And Darryl has gone through storm trooper training. Judith made a comment alluding to Michonne returning. Seems like the only reason Darryl will stay there is because she is happy there.

Anyway…decent ep. Keep plowing toward the end!

Not hitting it Sundays either. And last night was a no too

Just powering through to the end. Not one of my anticipated shows anymore. Lol

Season 11 Episode 11 - Rogue Elements

Mind was definitely wandering in this episode. Stephanie certainly seemed sketchy. Didn’t seem like quite the meet up that had been built up between her and Eugene. So makes sense that it was an elaborate scheme to recruit their people. Now there’s a REAL Stephanie? Lol. Have we seen her in prior episodes? Or has she come out of nowhere? Who knows? Obviously things are slowly showing their true colors in the commonwealth. Other than that I don’t have much else to say about this one.

This just announced a 5th spinoff featuring Maggie and Negan. Isle of the Dead - 6 episode limited series set in Manhattan. Guess Maggie and Negan are going to survive. Unless it takes place in between parts 2 and 3 of this final season. (I didn’t read the full article lol)

As done as I am with the series…i might be able to stomach 6 more episodes of Lauren and JDM lol

Ugh. Posted to wrong location. Still not watched. But know about next spinoff. Sigh. Enough!

Mike V. said...

lol….and I responded right to you in the wrong section. Just clicked on link in my email. Here’s what I wrote!

All good. I thing the ratings have massively dropped on this show. It’s hardly the must watch sunday night show it used to be. Speaking of…I’ll be out of town this coming weekend so probably won’t be getting to the next ep until mid week some time.

And hilariously, I kept my typo thanks to copy/paste. Good times.

Watched. I thought it sketchy Stephanie broke the rules for him so quickly considering how scaredy cat she was on the radio last half season too. Any show that is so much Eugene iss too much. Murder board was cute tho. And so the wrap up of stories begins! I did not read how long
G the spin off was either

Mike V. said...

Yep good point on Stephanie. Agreed on too much Eugene. That spinoff is like a 6 episode thing in Manhattan I think.

Just got back from my quick vacation so a little behind on TV. Not sure when TWD will fall into the rotation but I’ll get to it!

Season 11 Episode 12 - The Lucky Ones

Really trying to sell this Eugene/Max(Real Sam) relationship. I was all on board with it in prior seasons. This one seems more legit so maybe I can go for the ride. I’ll admit I was falling asleep for half the episode. (Not the episode’s fault but it didn’t help. Still vacation recovery). Aaron apparently is taking on one of Rick’s stories from the comics. Not sure if the story is from this ep or in the preview for next week. But this episode he seemed to be trying to make sure this deal with the commonwealth went through. Tension building with Maggie and Oceanside. So funny when we go back to Oceanside. They’re barely on the show anymore. Lol.

Anyway…past couple eps have been pretty darn slow but I know they’re necessary to build up to what’s coming. But I’m guessing overall…it’s going to be the case for this “MIDDLE FINAL SEASON BATCH” of episodes. It’s mostly setup for the final conflict.

MJ said...

I always forget oceanside exists. I am surprised our group hasn't tried to take over commonwealth yet. Guess too armed and organized. I am also over Eugene.

Season 11 Episode 13 - Warlords

Better episode than the past 2 and the start of peeking behind the curtain of the Commonwealth. CIA dude who was also on Ozark and lots of other stuff played his 2 roles convincingly. Loved the surprise that Negan was with this group and is trying to help Aaron/Gabriel by recruiting Maggie. It felt like when they all got into the building that we had time for the final conflict only to be met by the credits. 3 episodes left in this middle batch so it seems like we’re building to a final series conflict of our ragtag team vs. the commonwealth to end the series. But…we’ll see I guess. I thought the last villain would be Pope and he was taken out in the first batch of 8 lol.

Season 11 Episode 14 - The Rotten Core

Kept the story going from the previous ep with getting out of that apartment complex or whatever it was. Tied back in Dixon’s girl as the instigator of the whole thing with the weapons. But Negan vs. Hershel 2.0? Yikes! Pretty raw stuff. Crazy how much they’re able to draw from this Negan “being a good guy but never forgiven for his sins” drama. Now he’s set a date in the future to settle up with Hershel for the death of Glen. Interesting. I think I’ve forgotten how much time has passed since Negan/Maggie went different ways. Because now he’s married with a child on the way??? WHAAAT?? I thought we were still working up to the “2 months later” flash forward (or was it more than 2 months?) where Daryl/Maggie are at odds. So Negan got in quickly with this group and got busy. Only thing I can figure.

Still 2 or 3 more to go in this mid section. I think it said 2 to go before the mid season finale. but that would be ep 17. Maybe they’re doing 9 this go round. I’ll check the IMDB

Mike V. said...

There’s 2 more and then back in August for the final run. So weird that these eps are available a week early. I refuse to pay! Of course I refused to pay for paramount + and now look where I am lol.

Mike V. said...

It took until last night but finally watched ep 15. So Daryl’s girl now may work for the commonwealth. With them merging those plots it would seem the commonwealth is indeed the final conflict. So we’ll get a battle in the woods for the mid season finale and some huge conflict at the commonwealth at the end maybe. With it being a big deal and a population of 50,000 I could see Rick and michonne’s stories somehow bringing them there for a final showdown too. Guess we’ll see. But in the meantime this new villain dude from the commonwealth. They really have a way of getting these dudes you just want to punch in the face. Lol

Episode 16: Acts of God

We’re 2/3rds through! Now we’ve gone full Nazi Occupation for the final 8 lol. Poor Oceanside…the ugly stepchild of the TWD Trio. They just get thrown in for seconds at a time. Interesting that there was no Carol or Rosita featured in this episode. But I guess they weren’t needed for the newspaper revolution at the Commonwealth. And of course Daryl had to take out Leah. But…kinda felt like Maggie should’ve handled it. Lol. Interesting with Maggie telling Negan she trusts him now…or starting to. But if anything would earn the trust it would be protecting a child.

Well…8 more eps left….all we can do is hope that the heavy hitters return for the final ep(s).

MJ said...

Am totally behind. But why are they calling last night's finale the S11B finale and not series finale?

Mike V. said...

It’s not the series finale. Final season was 24 episodes broken into 3 parts. So there was 11A, 11B and 11C is coming in August. Final 8 episodes.

Mj said...

Ugh

Mike V. said...

Every 8 additional episodes gets tougher to convince my wife to watch with me. Lol At least we can finally do a countdown. The episodes aren’t terrible we’re just way past the expiration date of this show.

MJ said...

Yeah. Finished them. On FTWD now

Thrilling wasn’t it? Lol
